I replaced the caps and it fired right off. Also I went ahead and tried it on the pack rat and got him! It’s nice for this little revolver to also have a practical purpose, so that’s satisfying.
If you haven't already many people advise adding a second main spring in the pocket pistol. It's a bit of a pain and obviously gives you a very heavy hammer and trigger pull but it will strike the caps with real authority making them much more likely to go off.
Nice 1849! The first thing I did was replace the nipples with ampco bronze and tune the hammer contact and man did it help! Uberti from factory needed a little help tbh. Did a trigger job (I do gunsmithing) in process and now I need to make a small holster and a cast some conicals. Have a 22lr kit for it and need to test that too. But I prefer BP in a BP revolver. Handy little pistola. Everyone should have an 1849.
Beautiful, amazing video. Loved the "smoking home" quote. Sorry I haven't been around, but I'll get over here more often. Drinking to you while camping this weekend.
@@BarefootViking OK great, shoot me a message on Instagram or messenger so we can chat more about it. So far that’s two guys interested in coming out to camp.
You might try loading your revolvers with paper cartridges. And if you're not shaving led off your projectiles when you seat them you measure them and or buy should factory led projectiles. Love your videos videos videos
Thanks, these are definitely shaving lead. They’re actually pretty dang tough to seat. I’m gonna replace the two caps that didn’t fire and try it again.
I’d love to go camping with you and a few guys, but I’m probably 1000 miles away, which would make it wayyy too expensive for me. I was just thinking that same thing about how I can’t smoke a pipe where I live. 🙂. I shoot a lot, but not black powder, but if you look at your primers and see solid hits on it, then it’s not your springs.

I may be a little late to the party but I would absolutely be interested in coming out to camp and learn some of your methods.
I decided not to do it, who knows about the future though.
I`d love to come to a camp like yours good video greetings from Ontario Canada
Greetings in return, thanks for watching.

Glad you like the cigars!!
Yeah they’re great!
Good to see you posting again
Awesome video. Love the BP revolvers. More, please! @OverOnTheWildSide
Will do, I have an idea to do quick and easy vids every day.
Id like to go a camping, already have most of my equipment and would like to put everything thru the paces and share some craft techniques if needed
That would be great, would you be able to make it over here? I followed you on Instagram if you can chat there.
@@OverOnTheWildSide yes, got just about all my stuff and would appreciate some time in the woods. I'll be free of commitments soon and able to travel

Oh I been waitin for this one!
Great video. I'd certainly be interested in visiting and camping, but sadly it's just a tad too far. ;)
It’s only an America away… haha

I’m keeping the camp trips cheap so that people can afford to fly if necessary. But even then it can be pretty expensive.
Yes, garage rats!
