I just finished The Monsters We Defy, and it was fantastic. It's definitely underrated, and I highly recommend it. It's a very quick read.

i really need to figure out what I am reading after The Sky on Fire. this week seems like a great week to read We Used to Live Here.

My TBR is very simple: Forge of Darkness (which I have already started, as it is 2AM as I type this). And, if I have the time, I think I might pick up We Used to Live Here, too, as it was recommended to me by a friend. I don't know if I can read anything else this month, it's very possible that I can't. Forge of Darkness will probably take me at least a couple of weeks, maybe even 3 to 4, and I read one book at a time, so it is what it is Also, I also have the Baru Cormorant series on my eventual TBR, so I look forward to your thoughts on Exordia, and I might read that at some point as well, as a taste test. And 100% agreed on what you said about Malazan. As much as I love it and I can just actually read a bunch of them in close proximity, it still takes work and requires a lot of mental energy. One per quarter seems like a good way to include it into your plans. If you do want to make videos about them, I'll be very glad. If not, I just hope you enjoy reading it!

On my rereads of Vorkosigan, I tend to start with Falling Free because I like reading in chronological order. I always enjoy it, once again Bujold provides an excellent story and interesting characters. Can’t remember when I read it first time through, but I think I read both it and Ethan of Athos in isolation from the main Miles story arc. It is a bit different from the rest of the series but I think you will enjoy it - it certainly tackles some important ethical issues.

I so want to read Paladin's Grace but I haven't read any of the White Rat series yet. While I've accidentally read and enjoyed a series that I started reading at, say, book 7, I don't know if I can go in knowing that it's not book 1. IMO We Used to Live Here deserves all the love and buzz and hype surrounding it. Depending on the day or heck time of the day it is either my #1 favorite reads of 2024 or #2. My other favorite was T. Kingfisher's Nettle & Bone 😮 I can't wait to hear your opinion and I really do hope you enjoy it. Have a Happy New Year

I just finished We Used to Live Here and it was sooooo good! It was TENSE. It kicked off a reading trend of 'family moves into house and discovers things from previous owners', I immediately picked up the other We Used to Live Here by Daniel Hurst (that one was okay, not great) and then I just started Keep it in the Family by John Marrs.

Planning to actually vote for SFF awards in 2025, so for January: 10 2024 SFF Short Stories, 2 2024 SFF Novellas, 1 2024 SFF Novel, 3 Whatevers

while haven't watched too much booktube recently, coming back to it through videos like yours is so cozy. There should be a trade paperback without a set-back for Demon Copperhead because I hvae that and it's the American cover. It has deckled edges tho (which I personally love).

Orbital is definitely NOT science fiction. It's barely fiction! My worst book was All This and More by Peng Shepherd. It had a fun premise but it totally failed the execution.
