I just read Haunt Sweet Home and it was a lot of fun! Really nice lightly spooky read for the season. The Lotus Empire and We Solve Murders are probably the only books I really want to get to before the end of the year. My reading is all over the place, though, so we'll see if that even happens! 😅
I atleast had fun lol sometimes I remember I use to make nice title cards for tag videos, early booktube Angela really posted 3-4 videos a week AND did that level of production 😂
@@LiteratureScienceAlliance yeah I cannot relate I think for a couple months in the very beginning I did 2 a week and even that wasn’t sustainable for me long term 💀🤣
🥀 I have a huge amounts of ‘possibles’ on my new books shelf. And I’m feeling rather relaxed about it - I view them as a bunch of presents waiting to be opened, and they wait patiently as I deal with life stuff (recarpeting my house, so currently moving stuff in and out of rooms). No reading stress here. 😂😂
🌹🌹 My only firm TBR plan before the end of the year, is that I want to read Labyrinth's Heart (last book in the Rook & Rose trilogy). I started the year with book 1, read book 2 in July, and i just really like the symmetry of finishing the series in December. 😁 Otherwise I'm mostly vibing. I want to read 7 more books by the end of the year so I can hit 100 books, but no particular plans for what those books will be. I've had a great reading year as far as 'project' reads go, so I'm happy to coast into the new year.
I cant wait for you to read both Due and Juniper & Thorn, Im reading Dues other book currently and its excellent, and J&T was tied with Nettle & Bone and Flower Bride as spooky gothic fairytales last year but I think I might just slightly prefer it to the others. Very excited for The Wolf, Ben actually mentioned last night him and Grace now have copies :)
Long Live Evil really does have a diabolical ending hahah, I love it. And I am soooo ready for Wind & Truth!! Hope the anticipated reads live up to your expectations ;))
I feel like I have kind of decided what will be will be as far as reading for the rest of the year. There's so much I want to read but the brain has given up already. So glad you are liking Good House, though. I still think it is one of the scariest house-related books (but it was also one of my first haunted house books). And I am excited to reread Jasmine Throne whenever I get it out from the library. I'm hoping it will be a book that grows on me more during the reread.
🥀 lotus empire!! i actually haven't finished the Oleander Sword yet, I read a bit of it when it came out but I wasn't in a headspace for it so I paused it and just never got back to it. I don't know if I'll get to it by the end of the year with everything going on but I want to.
🌹🌹🌹Most of the books I was looking forward to got rolled over into 2025. I suppose reading them (assuming they don't get pushed back again) is my goal for 2025. Otherwise I won't start thinking about 2025 goals until late December-early January.
The Suri/Sanderson hype is so real!!!! I also want to dive deep into Malazan too. I hit pause on book one but I definitely intend to restart it when the right mood takes me! If you wanted some recs for series to try next year, I reckon you'd really enjoy The Winter Sea series by H.M. Long, The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman and I'd also say it's worth giving The Soldier Son series by Robin Hobb a shot. It's no Liveships, but I'd rate it just as high as the Fitz and the Fool books.
Being a mood reader, I don't really have plans for the rest of the year or the next year, but I would like to finally finish Ship of Magic (says she who' been 140 pages into that book since 2020 and haven't read a page of it since then 😅😂) 🌹🌹🌹 Oh! I was also wondering - will you maybe be making an r/fantasy Reddit Bingo check in video, since we're about mid-way through the challenge? 👀
I’m trying to stroll through the end of the year with my reading…nice and leisurely 😅 But I also have been trying to keep my unread owned TBR below fifty books, so we will see how that goes
I love reading these lists but I stick to personal goals better. As I age, my dyslexia gets worse so I've been focusing on literacy. I want to read something deep, not necessarily Spooky, but haven't found *the one* yet. So I guess my goal is to keep reading, as silly as that sounds. Oh! I forgot! There are some stories in Never Whistle At Night that I skipped for reasons, better read in the darker seasons, so I might get to those.
🥀 my reading plans for the rest of the year are to finish my current books and read more owned books than library books 😅 I tend to save the annual reading planning for Dec/Jan so haven’t quite got that far ahead yet!
I sign up for too many challenges each year and then this time of year get stressed that I'm not going to finish them. Every year I say I'll do less and then let myself mood read for a while at the end, but it never happens. Why do I do this to myself??
*Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?* Children of Dune. I've procrastinating it for the last couple of months, because the translator for the Brazilian version changed from books 1-2 and I haven't been vibing with the translation (and I'm sticking with the translated version because it is a buddy read with my best friend, so I'd rather we read the same version) *Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?* Not really. I'm not a season reader like that, and it's not even Autumn where I live, so *Is there a new release you're still waiting for?* No, I don't really read new releases, most of the time. I'm not caught up to things yet. Well, I guess that's a lie: Togashi, the mangaka of Hunter x Hunter, has come back from hiatus and we're getting at least 20 chapters this run, I think. So there's that *What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?* Well, there's a few things: 1. I want to finish the Poppy War trilogy (but I've only read 1 so far, so books 2 and 3) 2. I really want to finish the Novels of the Malazan Empire (also 2 books left for me, "Blood and Bone" and "Assail") 3. Elantris, which will be my first Brandon Sanderson book. I don't know that I can read all that this year, but hey, we'll see *Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?* No. I read books 8-10 of Book of the Fallen this year *and Babel*, by RF Kuang, so the competition is way too strong for the books I plan on reading, I think. My top 3 so far is Toll the Hounds, The Crippled God and Babel. *Have you already started making reading plans for 2025?* YES. I want to read more Brandon Sanderson stuff, namely Mistborn and, if possible, Stormlight (which is the one that interests me the most). And I want to reread Malazan: Book of the Fallen. A bunch of people I know will start reading it next year, so my plan is finishing the NotME this year, if possible, then next year reading the Kharkanas Trilogy and reading The God is not Willing *and then rereading M:BotF*. So it's a very ambitious goal, as there's A LOT of pages to cover and I'm still reading non-Malazan stuff this year, but we'll see how it goes
@@LiteratureScienceAlliance Thanks! Yeah, I'm honestly very curious too. I really don't know what to expect of Brandon Sanderson's work, so it'll be nice to see. I'll definitely keep you updated through the weekly/monthly check-ins!
