      I believe the question you have is, what is the life expectancy after replacing the bicuspid valve and aorta. I have not gotten any straight answer from any doctors, maybe because in every case, every surgery is different, and the result is also very different from patient to patient. But the best answer I got was ' Life expectancy after valve replacement would be close to normal'. What I know from my experience is we need to do what options we have in front of us and hope for the best. Medical technology is changing every day, so there will be more solutions if we can buy the time now. Hope this helps, take care.

    • @baybongdiary
      @baybongdiary 3 дня назад

      I happen to have one Apple watch and one Samsung watch. So, initially, I was wearing both, but later, I settled on an Apple watch. I had AFib events during my hospital stay and wanted to track whether it was coming back. The Apple Watch tracks regularly, which is a bit of assurance, but you cannot trust the watch completely. It also has ECG, heart rate monitoring, walking tracking, and everything, which helps when going for a walk. You need machines to check your blood pressure, oxygen level, and weight every day and track it for a few weeks after surgery. I think that is all.

      @@user-iv1bj2zr7n@user-iv1bj2zr7n I have an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and a Samsung Galaxy Watch 6. I compared their readings, and both are very close to each other. However, the health features are the same in both the Regular Apple Watch and the Ultra, so either one should be okay. What I mainly used is Afib, heart rate, walking and running distance and pace. A few times, I used to run an ECG, but I don't know how to read the data for that. Again, this data cannot be used for medical purposes, but it gives some assurance.

      Hi Alisha, I’m truly sorry that your two-year-old has to face this issue. I understand how challenging and overwhelming it can be for you as parents. It's important to understand the situation clearly and explore all possibilities, as uncertainty often leads to anxiety. And you cannot live day and night with anxiety. While I’m not an expert, I’d like to give some information that might help you navigate this. About 2% of the population has a bicuspid valve, a congenital condition. Typically, it doesn't cause symptoms until a person is in their 30s or 40s, and some people may never experience any problems their entire lives. Aortic dilation can occur for two main reasons: either the aorta itself has a structural issue, or a leaky valve causes uneven blood flow, which places abnormal pressure on the aortic wall, leading to dilation. You mentioned that your son’s aorta is dilated. Dilation usually develops over a long period, often decades. This raises the question of what the current diameter of the aorta is and how the cardiologist determined that it’s dilated. If the aorta dilates further (beyond 5.5 cm) or if the aortic valve is leaking severely enough to require surgery, given your son’s age, the surgeon might recommend the Ross procedure. This is considered the best option and can allow for a normal life afterward. In the Ross procedure, the surgeon replaces the diseased aortic valve with the patient’s own pulmonary valve, which is then replaced with a donor valve. Now, Let's say the valve is working fine and only the aorta needs to be replaced; then, if they place an artificial tube to replace the aorta, that tube itself will restore the valve geometry, and that should last for a long time, if not forever. I know this might sound overwhelming, but the key is finding a medical center experienced in the Ross procedure. Although we don't hear a lot about this kind of problem, it is very common in the medical world, and help is available. Your son will have a normal and healthy life. I hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you. I will be happy to do some research for you when you need it.

    It is encouraging seeing you. I'm 39 years old with 4.94 ascending aortic aneurysm and moderate to severe aortic insufficiency. Aneurysm slowly was increasing. 4.20 in 2015. But the insufficiency was mild to moderate for a decade. Last check up before a couple of days i got the news it worsened for the first time. I will be having a CT coronary angiography in LA e September and the decision will be made when to have the surgery. My cardiologist initially wanted me to have the surgery in 3 months but he saw my valve functions as bicuspid but anatomicallly is tricuspid so depending on the results of the scan he may delay the surgery till 5.5 cm. How big was your aneurysm? I don't know yet if it will be a repair or replacement. Everyone says repair is better, but with replacement I'll most probably not need another surgery. None has given me a number for the years a repair can last and what's next. Another surgery? Most probably. I've been watching videos of the surgery and after the surgery on RUclips to possibly prepare myself. I'm super anxious and scared. I think of it all the time. From the time i wake up till i sleep. I'm not in the mood to do anything.

    • @baybongdiary
      @baybongdiary 10 дней назад

      I understand your situation; I have been there in the same situation as you only a few months back. Honestly, you really cannot get over it until you do the surgery. Definitely listen to what your doctor is telling you, but based on my knowledge, if an aneurysm goes beyond 5cm, it is better to take care sooner rather than later because the last thing you want is rupture. My diameter was 4.3cm, but I had other problems like severe aortic insufficiency and blockage. If the valve is not calcified, they will try to keep it. But the final decision they will make during the surgery, when they can see it up close, but you can give your wishlist or choice. You also need to decide which valve you like to have, the biological or mechanical valve, and both have some advantages and disadvantages. This is what I understand: ruclips.net/video/M7F25K-DTQo/видео.html Repair is better because lifestyle won't change much, but they cannot tell how long it is going to last. They only keep the original valve if they feel it is going to last longer than the artificial valve. You will be anxious for sure because this is a serious surgery, but nowadays, this surgery is safe and usually comes with excellent outcomes. Two, three months after the surgery you should be able to do almost everything, close to normal. For now thell yourself, this surgery is good for you and it will give you a healthy and long life. Try to focus on things you like to do, I was keeping myself very very busy. Take care, all will be okay.

      @baybongdiary 7 дней назад

      @@user-iv1bj2zr7n I started working after three weeks (I got only three weeks off), but I was working from home and had fixable hours. In three weeks' time, your body will still be relatively weak, and you can have soft conversations but won't be able to talk loudly. I was losing my breath while talking over the phone and getting excited. You won't be allowed to drive. But if everything goes well, you should be able to take one or two classes. Make sure to have a chair near you or be seated and try to talk softly. I believe, you will need clearance from your cardiologist/doctor to start working, and based on your recovery, they will provide that. My suggestion is that, after the surgery, make sure to do the breathing exercise regularly as asked. Go for a walk and make progress every day.

      @@user-zw9gg9wg8d Interestingly, my cardiologist and surgeon's office organized cardiac rehab for me. In my experience, cardiac rehab is beneficial because I can do it without worrying if I am doing anything wrong, and they also monitor me the entire time. For example, on the very first day, they asked me to do an arm bike, which I was so afraid to do because the hospital told me not to move my arm away from the body. But after the session, I got more confident about what I should be able to do. However, I understand that it is more important for patients who have heart attacks/ heart failure than for patients with other types of surgery.

    Hi, you mentioned in one of the videos that the doctor advised you not to fly prior to surgery. Would you mind sharing why, was it because of the aortic aneuryzm?

    • @baybongdiary
      @baybongdiary Месяц назад

      Doctors suggested me not fly because I had a leaky valve and artery blockage, which put me at a higher risk of having a heart attack. From the US to India is 24 24-hour flight, with a high altitude, and sitting such a long time makes the risk even higher. My heart was able to send only 37% of blood to the body; it would get clotted easily. People often fly to different cities and countries for medical treatment, but it was best to avoid me with my condition.

    Thank you for making a video got to know so much I am 22, and I have a dilated aortic root measuring 39mm. I was very scared when I found out about this issue. I haven't gone for surgery yet, but a few days ago, I felt chest pain and went to the doctor. I completed all the tests, but everything was normal; it was just acidity. However, if the aortic root reaches 50mm, surgery will be needed. I really don’t want to go through surgery hope everything goes well🤞🏻 Get well soon sir..! You are so brave sir salute to you🫡

    • @baybongdiary
      @baybongdiary Месяц назад

      Hi Vinit, To my knowledge, 39mm should not show any symptoms. In fact, 35mm is considered an average diameter. But you need to know why it is getting dilated. But open heart surgery is very safe nowadays, and the doctor suggests having the surgery ahead of time when required because waiting too long can create other issues that become more serious. I hope you won't ever need any surgery. For now, you should enjoy life and take good care of yourself.

    • @baybongdiary
      @baybongdiary 2 месяца назад

      Hi Divya, Thinking of heart surgery is scary, and it is normal to have anxiety attacks. I had that, too. But from my experience, I can tell it is not as bad as it looks. Particularly if you know the surgery will save your life and give you a much better future, then all you need to do is accept it. It becomes much easier once you start accepting the fact that surgery only brings good to you. The first 2,3 days can be hard, but you will be sleeping most of the day. From day three, you will make a lot of progress each day and start feeling a bit excited to return to normal. In terms of pain, you may not feel much pain because there are only a few nerve endings around the breastbone area, so having any pain there is very rare. Makesure to have some domestic help for few weeks after surgery and take time off from work or school for two months, then you will be back to normal in no time. It is just a process now days, just like any other surgery. Only it is more graphical to make someone scared. Keep a positive mind; you will go just well. Take care.

      I arrived an hour early out of excitement. But they will only allow you to enter at 1:30 PM (boarding time), so there is no point in going early unless you want to do some sightseeing. The process is fast, just to check the documents and do a quick security check, but the line can be long, which might take a bit of time-let's say 30 minutes. • @baybongdiary

      I am hoping your valve will work for the rest of your life, and that is totally possible. Make sure you maintain a healthy lifestyle, so valves or arteries won't get calcified. Also, make sure to do tests often, as the doctor suggested. Noninvasive procedures are available to plant a new valve, and this technology is changing rapidly, so by 20/30 years, if you need to change also, it would be a much easier journey and no surgery at all, just a catheter through groin. Don't worry too much, enjoy life.

      Unfortunately I am not familiar with medical insurance in India. But I would suggest to keep your existing insurance active if you already have one, and understand the coverage you currently have. Because rules are different in different countries and getting a new insurance may not cover pre existing conditions. If you are getting new insurance, understand all the terms, before getting one.

I have the feeling that everything will be okay. Now, 2% of the population has a bicuspid aortic valve. I have had it all my life and am fully active, even today. Since it is asymptomatic for you, then the ejection rate should be fairly normal. Then what is the problem? Please be positive and look for the brighter side that you need at this time for you and the baby. All will be okay, I am sure. Even though I am an atheist, I would like to go to the temple today and pray for you and the baby.
