Great work.
@@Gumboot-Cowboy thank you
I cannot believe how clean this car is for a midwest car. The mid sixties to late seventies were know for rust, especially the frames. Even the interior looks like it has never seen the light of day. I cant tell, but is this an a/c car? This would definitely be a fun daily driver
@@dancline2143 yeah it was a rural car and was always in the garage when not used. Yeah it has air conditioning I hope it's a fun daily it should be
Can we please see more cold start from your son thank you
I’m a 19 year old who lives vintage cars but my mechanical experience is limited but good knowledge. Is it a good idea to buy a 65 Monterey that’s been sitting a while? It’s got a straight body not much rust and probably a 390
@@kareemestwani2400 Hell yeah sounds like a No brainer to me if its affordable and your looking for a project.
Wow , amazing shape inside and out ! Worthy of pulling the heads and seeing whats up inside with the lifters and pushrods.
@@glenbo2464 yep I have already pulled valvecovers found 3 stuck valves and 6 bent pushrods. I freed valves up and installed different pushrods
I’d think the seat would have more wear & tear if 145K…
@@jimmya2578 Yeah but if it was a lot of highway driving which It would have been then you aren't necessarily gonna wear out the seat too much. Plus the upper control arm bushings are shot plus how oily the engine is and caked up on the crossmember for the trans. It points to 145k
Lucky to have that car! Would love to have it myself! Please take good care of it and keep it inside, not many left around like it anymore. Beautiful solid automobile. If you put new tires on it please put whitewalls back on it!
@@kevindoxey Yes very privileged to own it. This one is gonna find a spot inside. It's gonna get whitewalls again Maybe even white letters not sure yet
Man I love that car!!!! One of my relatives had...I believe...a 68 Mercury Marquis Brougham. It was maroon with a maroon velour interior. When I was I little kid I fantasized owning it.
@@bruceblumhagen2878 Thanks I really dig it too it's quite the time capsule
Dang missed this earlier. I'd get rid of the buzzer if that were mine.
@@Gumboot-Cowboy I haven't been bothered enough yet by it Lol
Another great oldie.
Love carb’d cars that take some cranking before starting!
Indeed!
Are you going to sell this truck?
@@ThomasSmith-fz6wq wasn't planning on it
Nice old truck, I recommend using fresh Prestone Antifreeze and Royal Purple synthetic engine oil for your truck and non ethanol pump gas ⛽ from SUNOCO, Keep up the good work man

@@steelisthemeal thanks for the support
Nice
Do you have a truck like this for sale???!
@@michaelciccone2194 Unfortunately I don't have anything like this for sale.
Always a great day when you have a new video uploaded!
@@bruceblumhagen2878 glad you look forward to them
❤ Vintage ❤
Absolutely awesome to see just a bare block of steel built to preform unlike today's engine which is a sea of brittle plastic including oil pans.
@@robertdiehl9003 yep a lot simpler time.
Success, These oldies are hard to kill. Love the ultra portable fuel tank you use in your videos Pete. Keep posting these,
@@Gumboot-Cowboy very true. Ya it's kind of a handy unit lol as long as people wanna watch these derelict productions I will keep making them thanks for the support

I wanna get an old project truck or car like that. I bet itll fire up with a little bit of work
Old gas seems OK. My Dad reckoned his old Plymouth pickup could run on anything from alcohol to Zebra pee. He preferred diesel.
@@Gumboot-Cowboy it kinda runs on it when it warms up a bit but it won't start by itself with it though
@@Cheap1981 Dad only ran diesel. No gas
Should try with out pouring gas in carb

Great video as always! I never knew you were in South Dakota. I am in North Dakota. Your weather descriptions were spot on. @@bruceblumhagen2878 Thanks and ya we aren't far apart for distance or the crappy humidity lol

Love your videos Pete. This one reminds me of trying to get my old Ford Jailbar started on a frosty morning.
@@Gumboot-Cowboy Thanks for the support.
I had a 59 LeSabre coupe with 43k on the 401 4 barrel. Then a 60 LeSabre 4dr flattop with 35k on the 364. Both all original, rust free, nice interiors and paint. They were my daily drivers all through high school and several years after. Super great cars . Awesome motors. Been heartbroken since the day I sold them to this day. Had a 58 Special, 60 wagon, and a 64 Wildcat, but the 59 was my favorite. If you own one of these, don't ever sell it ....unless it's to me!
Sounds like a packet of penny crackers.... I'd use that as my daily driver and call it Crackling Rosie. lol.
This would be a fun daily driver, that even with a 390, would probably get better mileage that a modern car, since no pollution junk on it. Is this a factory A/C? I could tell if there were a compressor on it
@@dancline2143 No AC car. It was a fun driver when I use to drive it
@@Cheap1981 it's uncommon for an LTD to be a no a/c car. I've even seen alot of Galaxies over the years with factory A/C
@@dancline2143 ya your right but apparently this one didn't need it lol
A 390 would never get better fuel mileage then a new car.
@@MrJasonBrunk it might not but be way more fun to drive

Interesting collection of old clunkers there Pete. Keep posting videos.
@@Gumboot-Cowboy yeah a variety of derilect old rust
Love the cranking with hard starts!
@@lovetocrank You'd have loved my old Ford Jailbar V8. Cranking it took ages since it only had 3 working cylinders.
@Gumboot-Cowboy You’re right sir! I would have really loved that! Did you like that?
@@lovetocrank Drove it daily for just over 18 years covering about 500,000 miles
Save that beautiful Buick.
It was a beautiful car back in the day
Nice now teach me how to drive stick
You first thing is to find why it's reving up so high better see if it's hung open or needs to idled down then check idols screw
@@user-du2fq3pi1p it idles high because thats the fast idle cam for the choke until it warms up abit and choke comes off then idles normal
Had me a 77 Sedan deville...... It was a hooptie.... Bumper fell off once, I later drilled holes in the bumper fillers, twisted coat hangers through to hold tail lights...... Only year you could get away with that since tail lights and bumper were one unit....... What state is your yard at Pete?
@@andrewandres148 south dakota. I didnt know that 77 was only year the taillights were part of bumper
@@Cheap1981 I believe it was... Cause after my fix, i looked at other models with that in mind... Im pretty sure 78 and 79 tailights were seperate from bumper?
Go figure, I had two '77 DeVilles first a Coupe and later a Sedan DeVille. I too know of rear bumpers giving way, happened while attempting to jack it up to change a tire in 15°f weather! The soft metal plates between bumper and frame seem to be the culprit.
@@Cheap1981nope 77-78-79 all part of the bumper just 78-79 had slightly different shape than 77
@@telebob5983aluminum yup
Love your videos!!!!!
@@bruceblumhagen2878 Thanks
And the 77 caddie
Omg..I want that 1 ton weullie
Sounds good to me, aside from the backfire
Letter’ fly.
It could be very basic transportation to someone, somewhere in need. Trust me, when you are faced with walking 2 miles in a blizzard just to get to work, that car would seem like a luxury beyond description. This was not intended to sound negative. I'm only suggesting there may be better uses for that rubber and the gas it took to burn it.
Maybe not roadworthy.
I get what you are saying but this thing is a clapped out POS its not something that would make a good daily for someone unless of course your desperate Lol
@@Cheap1981 That's all I meant. Someone really desperate. I'm extremely glad I'm not in that situation anymore, but there were times in my life where even that POS would've been like finding gold. As long as it goes, stops, and turns once in a while, its still better than no car at all.
You know what they say. A bad ride is better than a good walk. Lol
@@Cheap1981 exactly ! I'm in no way trying to send out negativity here. I was just making a point from life experience. I know that somewhere there is a single parent working full time to feed and care for a family who would welcome a chance to drive that to a grocery store instead of waiting for a bus. That car fits a lot more bags of food than one person can carry in their arms. I'll stop there and crawl back under my rock. What you do with your things is none of my business. Spread a smile somewhere every day : - )
Sweet old Buick! You dont see many of the older RWD full size Buicks around anymore.
Ya its crusty old turd but your right u dont see them much
