Love this🖥️
For the Beginners out there, the only difference between you and everyone else is "How fast can you do a certain task". 99.9% of tasks are doable, it is just a matter of trial and error, where experience comes in.
inspiring from the Philippines. I've been idle for 6 years in programming now I decided to get back, thought I'm a bit hesitant because I think I'm getting a little rusty on skills and to many tools now a days. any advice would be great and btw what framework is that? I'm in the process of choosing Codeigniter instead of Yii2.. more power cheers hope one day ill be in your dream job
Loved your video. I live in Basel. I am an immigrant. My wife works at Novartis. My only quibble is that you pronounce Basel incorrectly.
I realized that recently 😂
@@RichardStrittmatter 😂 Love love love your videos.
I work in IT on the Desktop Support side full time so it's fun to take a peak at what happens on the backend. Thanks for sharing!

RUclips recommended this video and I had to hit the subscribe button as soon as I finished watching it. It feels like a very real working session
Modern half filled office spaces where people are working comfortably with the latest computers and latest software? LOL No, still not realistic. I'll tell you about real professional software development: - Projects late as soon as they start - Huge legacy codebases nobody understands - Endless meetings - Incompetent IT/Security departments - Outdated tools - Obsessive management oversight - Tons of foreign contractors - Impossible deadlines - Agile bullshit This is what they don't tell you: even if you manage to find a job, abject misery awaits.
I'm currently 23 and you're such an inspiration for me! Thank you very much for sharing everything so openly, having such a surplus & being careful with it every month at this age is amazing, respect for that! Also, the way you said about what you come from.. I can relate.. Really happy that you've created a better life for yourself, it's a great feeling, cheers!
💻 Thank you for making this video! I want to become a software developer and seeing some details is really insightful and helpful! Wish you all the best!
nice edits keep it going bro :p
Happy New Year in advance Richie! 🇮🇳❤️🇨🇭
What is the wide screen monitor you're using?
OLED G9 from Samsung
this channel should have a lot more subs....your vids are so authentic!
great vid bro!
Informative video and cool wallpaper..where can i get it!!
what is this monitor you have at home ? with the glossy screen
Great video
Great video! I'd love to see the POC you created with structured output.
Just another great video! I’m moving to Switzerland for the second time and your videos have me looking forward to move there. Happy holidays!
Although openai and claude are very good, they are not suitable for sensitive data, I just use ollama and llama 3.2 vision for data that is sensitive. It is almost as accurate as its counterparts :)
Since a lot of you have been asking for the SCRUM Board Template: It's a free Notion-Template: www.notion.so/marketplace/templates/small-company-scrum-board?cr=cre%253Anotion
Bro if one earns 100k chf a year before taxes then what is his take home pay after taxes and deductions in Switzerland? Please reply. Thanks a lot.
It depends. There are a lot of factors that influence the total "after everything". The biggest factor is where you live. Some cantons have super low tax (1-3%). On average I'd say you're paying 15-25% per year on what you make.
what is name scrum border app?
Nice scarf
What’s that scrum software? We’re using ClickUp and I dig the simplicity of those one (frontend engineer here)
Its just a default notion template for scrum
Beautiful !

this is a realistic video. from 1 software engineer to another
I am far from this type of luxury setup except the coffee

This was super interesting, thank you for sharing!
10h Is crazy bruh, mine is like 3-4h haha
Nice 👍🏻
Good video, but please raise the volume since the difference between the volume in your video and the youtube ads are 3-4x. 😬
Thanks for the tip. Will keep that in mind 👍🏻
It's real, nice to see a PHP dev, however not a fan of SCRUM it is such a waste of time especially the Retro thing.
Great note about AI not replacing developers. I think the question is mainly: "will the demand for development (and by extension developers) grow equal to or faster than the reduction in working hours needed to develop products?" If suddenly, a glass-window replacing machine can replace a glass window 10 times faster than a human working manually, then this is great for window replacement workers who can be more valuable, however, in the short term, if there are not enough broken windows in Basel, then those glass window replacers will be low on work. Luckily, there seems to be no shortage of demand for software. One other concern would be the value of the skill if "anyone" can do it although I feel it is a bit early to theorize and just a hypothetical scenario for now.
I believe we still have time before AI significantly impacts our jobs, especially in Switzerland. The conservative approach of senior management, who often hold decision-making positions, means new technologies must thoroughly prove themselves before being adopted. For example, at my previous company, the boss explicitly prohibited developers from using AI tools like ChatGPT in their work because he was scared of it...
Thanks Richard! your personal anecdotes and stories are great to hear as a Junior Software Engineer. The genuine and relatable content is what brings me back!
Great video! 🖥
Engineers won't be asked their opinion on AI. The decision whether AI replaces engineers will be taken by MBA managers who will look at some spreadsheets with $ values in, they will try to look smart in front of everyone, explaining how the company can save the company $1 trillion by paying a $200/month chat gpt subscription. And everyone will clap their hands. The job market may be tough for a while, until companies understand AI better, i.e. that it is a tool that can boost productivity, not something that replaces engineers.
Video request: Make a video on trending tech stacks in Switzerland and how to get jobs in Switzerland from outside Europe. If not the later, plz make the first one! Danke!

Great insights man. I would like a video on your setup, gadgets, apps, etc.
Can we call ourselves an "Engineer", like per example Software Engineer, without having a degree? Whats the difference between a Software Engineer and a Software Developer?
In most countries (except Canada and some European nations), you can call yourself a "Software Engineer" without a formal engineering degree, as the title isn't legally protected for software roles. While Software Engineers and Software Developers often have overlapping responsibilities, Engineers typically focus more on system-level design and engineering principles, while Developers concentrate more on implementation and coding, though this distinction varies by company.

do you have a discord richard ?

Writing E-Mails yourself… Imagine😂
Hi Richard, I recently watched your video on how to use AI for coding, and I found it really inspiring. I wanted to reach out because I’m teaching myself data science right now. The challenge is that I don’t have a degree or a strong math background, and sometimes it feels overwhelming. I’m really passionate about learning and working in tech, but I’m wondering if data science might be too hard for me without that foundation. Do you think it’s possible for someone like me to succeed in data science with enough effort, or would it make more sense to shift my focus to something like web development, which seems more beginner-friendly?😢
If you really enjoy the field I’d say that nothing is impossible. Just put in all the work it takes and you’ll get there eventually.
