Hi Dave, this video best captures the atmosphere and emotions of the race. I started in the age group on Saturday, where there were already many spectators and there was also a great atmosphere. Last year's World Cup in Italy was great, but Leuven was in a class of its own. Best regards Sven

I guess bike shops in UK are amazing, but in CZ it's like... "can't service my bike, one shop actually broke my carbon wheel spoke, when buying a new bike they will not do anything, not even change handlebars.." so it looks absolutely pointless and in the end, I buy everything online, and I had to figure out how to be my own mechanic including truing wheels, changing bearings etc. I'm absolutely disgusted with LBS experience as a "new" road cyclist. And just pulled the trigger on a new Aeroad today, because of course the first bike I bought... was too large :)

Great video man! I was one of the Belgians in your group (nr 1895). Nice riding with you! I can confirm everything you're saying about the race. It was unforgettable, never experienced something like it. Last lap was indeed a bit of a downer when the elite guys were finished, but the group kept pacing it perfect to finish it off in time. Your video gave me the goosebumps back I had when we were passing the crowds at the finish line!

Great coverage Dave! The only footage I've seen of the steepest climb out of Groenendael to Hoelart! It was a wacky weekend for the spectators too - I've been riding those trails, tracks and paths for 30 years since I moved to Brussels - first on a hard tail MTB (with a triple and bar ends) and now on my gravel Trek Checkpoint. To have such a prestigious race was a privileged for us too. Glad you enjoyed the course and the vibe we spectators could provide! ps in Leuven after passing through the station then following the rail lines for a bit you then crossed back over the rail lines and rode alongside of what looks like a campus - that's where the finish line, press centre, and admin was for the 2021 UCI Road Worlds that Alaphilippe won (I was a volunteer in the mixed zone there)

I loved the course from watching the pro race on TV. Your camera angles gave a great perspective on the surfaces and gradient which perhaps the TV didn't pick up as well. Hence some of the 'it looked a bit easy' comments I've seen. Well it looked pretty tough to me, but great fun. Top edit! 👏👏

Anyone know a good spaghetti place in Nice?

I did it the same year as Ed Laverack, we lost 30/40 minutes with a Bluetooth error on a friends bike, the feed stations were carnage, and the last one at Arta was horrendous, having said that I’d do it again tomorrow and I’m 66, we averaged 17 mph and I’m sure we could better that, best was smashing it from Andratx to the feed station at 30 mph, worst was hitting 20%+ climb at 170 miles😳

I have an Aeroad, but I also have back problems🤣. I love the bike, but the seat tube is so dang stiff and the low stack height is hurting me. It's fine for a short crit or something, but anytime I get over 70-80 miles, my back is killing me. That said, I just bought the exact same SL8 Sworks frame you have. Waiting for it to come in so I can build it up. Hopefully my back will be better. I'm also putting on the SL7 and Zipp bars so I'll have more flexibility in the cockpit.

Great review. I just ordered an Sworks frameset. I'm coming from an Aeroad and I like it, but it kills my back on long rides. I'm hoping this helps 😆. I've never ridden an Sworks let alone owned one so this should be interesting.

It was mad event. A mate and i did the 100km road event the day before as well. Gonna sign up for next year though.
