GOOD BUGGERS FISHING COMPETITION 2024 - PART 2 - D'Urville Island
After a very successful day 1 landing 6 of the required 9 species attending the Good Buggers Fishing Competition on D'Urville Island, we had 2 more days to try and land a Groper, Kahawai and Trevally. It might sound easy but it was far from it. Been a measured based fishing comp we had until 4pm Saturday to submit the length of all our species to be in for a chance at some prizes. I would love to say everything went as planned but rumour has it something didn't go to plan on this adventure.

SOLO FISHING ADVENTURE - D'Urville Island

For a while I have been wanting to get out for a Solo fishing adventure on the new boat. I woke up ad checked through my emails to find I was all under control with work so I checked Time Zero and noticed there was a good weather window to head up to D'Urville Island and chase some Snapper for the afternoon. Since this was a very last minute trip there wasn't enough time to organise a crew so I...

Woo-hoo-hoooo. Yeth Boi
Hahaha all character building stuff Jase! Surely Fireball could have been used as a fuel substitute lol?
haha to bloody right mate, all in all it was a wicked trip and yeah there was talk of using fireball for petrol but the main problem was we had run out of that too.
Epic stuff Jase! Well done to you and the lads, interesting about the fuel. Atleast now you know!
@@nzcasualhunter thanks mate, yea definitely interesting but have found it since that this is a common problem on a lot of trailer boats. Glad I know now and have it all under control.
Well done to all you and your mates Jase ,rather scary when you run out of fuel in can imagine mate but you all got home safely ,awesome catch , cheers , shaneno, nelson,😊🍺👍
@@shanedavies9564 thanks mate, such a wicked time with the lads. I always take well over the required amount of fuel which I was so shocked when we ran out of gas. Really glad I found the issue and it’s all sorted now. Thanks for watching mate
Hi Jase, Good vid. What months of the year are the Tuna around in Kaikoura? Cheers
thank mate, they tend to be there most of the summer months.
Woohoo, yeth boi.
Good banter there! Nice one guys!

@@Nahnopeta thanks mate I’m glad you enjoyed it yea was definitely an amazing adventure with my mates and the tuna was just an added bonus
Hi Jason you view: on the ride v the Senators?
@@Topseller99 howdy mate. Each boat has there pros and cons. My advice would be to test ride them both yourself and in rough ish weather today as you cannot tell how good a boat is in flat water. As for the stabi, honestly in my opinion my previous 2100 was an awesome boat and a great ride too and I do believe my new 2250 is even better again. You will never get the ride of a pure mono hull but for a pontoon boat these are wicked. At rest the stabi is so dam stable it’s unbelievable and then in reverse is where it comes into its own as well. We just don’t really get any water over the back even when backing into a 1m chop. Honestly though best thing is to take them for a test ride to get your own opinion. As for price I do believe once you add everything in that a stabi comes with standard they are all pretty much the same price. The build quality of my stabi is second to none I believe. Now I’m probably a little bit biased as like most people we all think our boats are awesome but yea iv had both of my boats in some very very shit weather and have always felt safe. I’d highly recommend one. Feel free to message me on instagram if you have any more questions as well.
loved the video bud ! top work that one
Thanks mate
An absolute ripper mate! Loved it

We have decided after competing in the Good Buggers Fishing Comp the other week at D'Urville Island to not attend this years big fishing comp on D'Urville. We have an opportunity to do a very cool adventure instead and have decided to take this offer up. We were excited to attend this years comp and give it our best shot which we wish everyone attending the best of luck and we will catch up next year instead.
Hahaha feel you on those early drops mate! What kit are we using there? I fish the inner Pelorus and haven't stretched the legs as far as you but, head out to Beatrix. You done any SPJ yet?
Yea mate it was a real pain dropping those first few fish. I was fishing with the Shimano Ocean Jigger 1000 Reel, Shimano Engestu Rod and also the Shimano 150g Orange Baku Baku. Nice mate, you should definitely look to get out wide especially over winter. Na I haven't done a huge amount yet but we are starting to do a little more.
Mate wheres the spot lock that will help a shit load for a solo day?
Not really any good up there when your fishing in current
Rod and reel set up ?? Awesome sole trip…❤
Rod: Shimano Engetsu Reel: Shimano Ocea Jigger 1000 Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it.
Mean catches bro! Can’t beat a solid session and you did solo 🎉💪🏼💪🏼
Thanks mate, would have been nice to land a couple of the ones we lost haha
That's fishing Jase would say you did bloody well anyway happy days , cheers , shaneo, Nelson, 🍺👍
Was still a pretty cool solo adventure and to be guest I can’t wait to do another one. Look forward to meeting you at the ramp one day mate
A heap of other awesome fishermen there as well! So if you win the trophy back that must make you a super awesome fisherman then! Tickets please!!!
Will be pretty hard to win mate. 9 species isn’t easy and especially with 60 boats in the comp this year and the forecast isn’t looking that good for the three days either.
Haha it's on brother can't wait hope the weather plays ball this year🤙
Same here man it’s going to be wicked for sure plus be epic to catch up with everyone again
Jesus mate lol. Anyway, have some Fireball and all will be well.
Haha you know mate
Those bakus sure catch some fish
100% mate, such a wicked lure
Hey what camera do you use and do you wear a mic? Thanks
Hey mate I run GoPros, 10, 11 and 12 which I also have the media mod for them which limits the wind noise. I have found these great especially on the water. Since this hunting trip I have bought a Nikon P950 so I have a camera with heaps of zoom which means I can now show a lot more animal footage.
@@reeladventureswithjase751 ok thanks very much
hay fella how have you found the boat im up to see vic to look at one this week .. any issues you have found or things you would get differently
Hey mate give us a message on instagram and we can discuss further there. But to answer your question shortly, I absolutely love this 2250 mate like it’s an incredible fishing weapon which we overnight on it fine as well. Having the walk around is a game changer which we can have 6 lads bottom fishing easy as. The other month we had 5 of us casting top water lures all around the boat. I was worried about waves coming over the bow but honestly iv had this boat in some pretty shit conditions and havnt yet been able to get one over the bow and iv tried. In reverse it’s another level, boat is also so stable, we had 4 of us lads bringing in a king the other day all one side with out it even leaving over. So far I’m really liking the merc too, cruising at 51kmph burning 39lph. Flip us a message mate and happy to give you a ring to go over more detail if you like too.
