The LX derailleurs acted like XT ones with the upgraded shifters, but were heavier. I ran XTR shifters because I got them used at a steal.

Good job on the find. That’s a great bike to have. My brother-in-law has one in rough condition I could get for free. After seeing this it may be worth repairing. I would have never thought that they were worth that much. I’ll call with the info on it and price some parts from you and see if it’s worth fixing. Thanks for sharing.

I had Manitou Mach 3SX forks on my 1994 GT Bravado .

I just found a set of 739 combinations , new old stock in my store room . I have 740's on my Trek 4300 custom build which are in excellent condition .

I have a set of 735 as well as a set of 737 combination units .

A local has the 1996 , . 990 .

Jason , you would have been in your early 20's when the 970 was released .

Scandium handlebars , a carbon stem and carbon bar ends for the 970 from 1995/6 .

The market for older bicycles is strong in Australia at the moment . Not many bargains , unfortunately . Gumtree Sydney will illustrate this .

10:09 If that was my bike and I saw you hitting it with a hammer I would make you pay for a new hub! There's absolutely no reason to use a hammer at all. That damages the cover and motor.

Talking about the hub grease on this Schwinn kind of gave me an idea of what I'll be dealing with on a 1941 Schwinn ladies bike I bought at a flea market years ago. I can tell it's never been serviced and the braking is stiff. The grease will probably be like amber when I take the hub apart. It's been kept in our basement since it was bought except for a few trips around our yard to see how everything was working once the dry rotted tires/tubes were replaced. The original B-80 Mesinger seat was in bad shape but I found an exact replacement B-80 seat on eBay in excellent condition. I also bought a pair of repop Schwinn Oval hand grips as the originals were missing. I think the old girl is well worth the $125 I've put into her so far, which includes the purchase price.

I was really hoping to see how to open up the backplate because one of my pogo pins is stuck. Is it as simple as unscrewing the single torx screw?

The orange krate you are working on would have had a color knobby on it or depending on the build date it could have had a color line slick. Also it would have the light gray cables and not black. Very nice survivor quality bike.

A blueberry krate nor a grape krate was ever a production bike. Rumor has it that there was 1 grape krate made for the owner of Smuckers jelly and it sat in his office. But that was a Rumor! Never seen any pictures of Amy sort to prove that.

I had one similar to this one I had a blue one with the slick wheel in the back and a very long sissybar.

In 74 for Christmas I got a yellow one. Have pictures of my that morning next to it. I wish I still had it.

I played with the exact one back in my later childhood. Me and the neighbors kids would spend all day riding on it taking turns. the kid who owned its, his dad rigged it with a mini trailer so we would stack it with all of our outdoor treasures. Now I'm planning to buy the same green buggy one for my 3 year old this Christmas

What a Great video!!! I have a similar stuck post. Hammering it IN did not budge either. I was told a 10 pound slide hammer, along with sudden cooling of the aluminum post if necessary, works every time, even on the absolute toughtest of them. I've just ordered the slide hammer.

I have a question I’m hoping you can help me with, I have a pre-serial number, Hutch pro racer, all the specs on it are pro racer, but there’s one thing about this frame that confuses me, the drop out has two holes in it. I was told that it’s a little hole shot, but nothing matches any of those specs, the top tube isn’t right the overall will length isn’t right nothing is right, everything says pro racer, except for the drop out, have you ever seen this before?

I've just realised that youtube hasn't been notifying me of your new videos... methinks I've got some catching up to do! ;) Sounds like there's some differences between UK and US voting... I've never had to queue up to vote, you sit down to fill in your ballot paper? We just get our paper, go into a cubicle in a line of booths, mark it and bung the paper in a box, it literally takes 30 seconds. However, because the villages/small towns are somewhat scattered communities it could take you a good couple of hours to complete the process as you catch up with what's been happening to the locals you only see now and again :). I've made a point of voting every time there's an election, in my book you don't get the right to complain about who's in power if you don't! ;) Having said that for the last few General elections it's been disheartening as each party seems to be blending into one awful political porridge with individual MP's acting far worse than kids in a playground ever could! We persevere and hope for better times in both the US and the Uk ... onward and upward we go ....

I rode my bicycle to drop off my mail-in ballot. I like doing it that way so I don't have to stand in line. Was about 90 people in line at my local city-hall at 3pm. Riding places is enjoyable so I always have a good time showing up on a bike. I must just be ignorant to the uncomfortable feels today, or I just don't talk to people. Man, that's a rare bike.

Americans are anxious and apprehensive. Stakes are the difference between a democracy and a dictatorship. So you can understand the response in the line.

It's tense out there. I voted two weeks ago to avoid that but a few minutes ago our grocery store in a small town didn't feel normal. The whole day hasn't felt normal. There is a fork on a rough trail we've never been down before. My flag went out this morning and is gonna stay out all night.
