Do you put vhs/video 8 onto dvds per chance?

I am looking for a two-way rewinder to make my own cleaner like this. will pretty much model work as long as its not an auto start like the slide in ones that are more common? Also, does an auto eject feature cause any issues with fooling the interlock?

I'm surprised you're not using DVD recorders for videotapes. As for slides, I love my Wolverine Data slide scanner. They also make an HD film scanner - I hope you're also applying color correction on scanned films.

I just picked myself up a Tara Master 4 Bay Network attached storage unit that I will be doing all my backups on. I plan on getting another one for my personal use and then one single Bay unit for all the customers paperwork.

Does this work for ones that movies recorded on them or just home made movies? I ask because I have a land before time vhs tape with a crack on side of the tape and the video is shaky and gets kinda staticy on the top

Amazing videos, I'm just about to build a cleaning machine like yours for a couple of moldy VHS-C from my grandparents. The only things left are finding which DC motor and circuit to use on it, and what can I use to replace those 'Pec Pads' with isopropyl alcohol (maybe standard tissues? or the cloths that come with eyeglasses? Pec Pads are not available in my country and don't know the material's generic name they're made of). Anyways, do you recommend digitizing VHS-C tapes playing them on the cameras that originally recorded them? Or makes any difference playing them on a VCR with the adapter?

Clean the mode switches on the funai’s. Funai also made most Magnavox, Emerson, symphonic, Sanyo, and Sylvania tvs also vcrs.

Not the tube, the video circuit on the main board, most likely an electrolytic capacitor, and could be a solder connection, clean the tube socket first. but I have worked on those, and found capacitors and leaky transistor the problem. you should get a schematic. also do a visual on the board look for capacitors with puffy tops. I know when you tap on it , It flickers. i believe you have some bad connections and that will take care of some issues, but you may have some weak components, It's definitely worth repairing

I have a number of 8mm and Hi8mm tapes, fortunatly I still have the hi8 camcorder that recorded the Hi8 and it works fine. Capturing has worked fairly well. However I unfortunately have some "ME" tapes (metal evaporative tapes) and they are impossible. These are not critical tapes but tuning these ME tapes leave so much crap on the heads you will never get thru one tape without stopping every 5 minutes. Have you had any success with maybe "drying" these tapes with heat while forwarding and rewinding? I really don't want to put these tapes back in the camcorder.

Balls... i just found a long lost box of tapes and so many have mold. I cant be building this machine right now so im hoping to just play them in a sacrificial vhs player and then use head-cleaner... and hope that does a good enough job. This is brilliant though well done.

Hi, I've encountered a problem I'm hoping you can help with. After digitizing a few dozen 8mm films, I started on the Super 8's I have. When I spool the film into the takeup reel, the machine starts making a clicking sound (from the film and the advancer, I assume) and the framing is thrown off with about 1/3rd of the next frame showing on the bottom. When I DO NOT spool into the takeup reel, the film frames fine, the clicking does not occur and the recording is good. It's like the pull from the takeup reel messes up the sprocket/film advance. I can apply drag to the reel with my hand and the problem will disappear, but obviously I don't want to spend hours manually intervening. I put a reg 8 back on and it ran find. Have you experienced this? Any advice? Thank you!

So i played a tape with a little mold on it in one of my players. Before i realized i played another taoe that was clean. Is the second tape ruined because it played in a possibly contaminated player? Would one of these cleaning methods be beneficial if i see no mold on it? Thanks!

Those magnavox vhs dvd combos are usually durable i have one and it has ran since it was new in 2006 and it works great i got it in like 2019 i was like 9 but it still is with me today running like new

Thank you for the informative video. Your loading method helped a lot. I have one issue that I can’t seem to diagnose. On some scans the video - at the top of the frame, has a twitching where the film appears to drop or pull down from the top I can see the top of the frame come down in a twitching manner, like every third or half second, constantly. Most of the time I can re-scan and it doesn’t happen. Any ideas? Thanks.
