That pick is worth very few players in the NHL. I'd let it go for the unlikely Brady Tkachuk trade or for Saros, Swayman, or Askarov. Alexander Holtz stock keeps dropping. He was left off the Worlds team just recently. He's no longer the dangling carrot he was in the beginning of last season. If Fitz keeps the pick, it almost assuredly means it is Markstrom or bust in net. The Devils need to stop drafting short track speed skaters. They desperately need to add physical beef. I'd take Tij Iginla over Essierman any day of the week. He just fits more into the type of player the Devils desperately need. He grinds and battles in the opposing teams zone.

Lots of people are saying that 2-13 are very up in the air right now. And I am a proponent of selecting the best available player in a tier system; as I do believe players in the same skill tier are all comparable. So, past Celebrini it goes: Run to the Podium (Tier 2): Demidov - Easily the second best player, the only reason he is a vague possibility is the Russian Factor Lindstrom - Brings size, skill, goal scoring, and versatility. He would be the ideal selection for the Devils, but I would be shocked if he fell past 5. Best Options for the Devils (Tier 3): Eiserman/LW - Best goal scorer in the class, and has the potential to put up scary good numbers with Hughes centering him. I see him as a Coleman version 2.0; as he put up better numbers without a playmaking center and is a bigger player; and we all know how good Hughes played with Coleman. That said, while he has arguable the highest ceiling with the Devils, he also is a riskier choice; with the chance of being a Holtz 2.0 (not that he is a complete bust yet); that said, I think his floor is much higher than Hotlz and I would select Eiserman any day of the week, especially at 10. Silayev/LD - Has the size, skill, and potential. If he can put it all together, he'd be a steal at this point. and would bring a new element to our young D core. A bit more of a risk to Dickinson, but has a much higher ceiling; so between the two, I would go with him. Catton/C - Good Skater and look at the numbers he puts up! He would give us a scary 1-2-3 down the middle. Levshunov/RD - We do not need another offensive RHD, but if he is still there, we should just take him and figure things out later. I think he would be in the 'Run to the Podium' tier for other teams. Dickinson/LD - Arguably the best all around defender and just a great skater. He would fit our system well behind Luke Hughes, playing with Casey. Adding him would easily make our potential young D cores one of the best in the league. Iginla/F - He plays hard "playoff hockey," but at 6' tall, he is on the smaller side of a power forward (only 1 inch taller than Catton), but still a welcome addition albeit a bit overrated in my opinion. I think he would be the safest choice for us. Other Options in Tier 3 I don't think the Devils should select: Helenius/C - Considered the player with the best IQ in the draft. But seems to lack size and speed; so I don't think he is a good fit for the Devils at 10. Parekh/RD - The most offensive minded defenseman in the class. But with Hughes, Nemec, and Casey, I don't think we need him; especially considering 2 of those 3 also play on the right like Hamilton. Buium/LD - An all around decent defender but lacks some of the elements that the Devil's defensive system lacks. So I think Silayev and Dickinson would be better for the Devil's LD. Yakemchuk/RD - I think his stock rises because he is a right handed defenseman, but that isn't a huge need for us, so I don't think he would be the best pick for the Devils Honorable mention goes to Freij/LD; I would be happy selecting him, but I think the consensus would see him as a reach.

My Devils trade wishlist: Brady Tkachuk, Juuse Saros, Shea Theodore

I wanted Berube to be hired since I think he is a type of coach this teams needs… However, when I dived deeper into his coaching career, I don’t think he would be a great fit. I don’t think he’s the coach you want for a young team. He plays veterans and play style of hockey not really the way Devils team is constructed now. If possible, Sullivan would be a perfect coach for these devils. He is the best match style-wise, experienced with not heavy team, but fast and skilled. Good structured defense , SC … love to see that…

I think a lot of it comes down to him not being a concencus #1OA/best player on the team type of player. People always seem to underrate him as a result. Personally I think Nico is the ideal captain and I am thrilled we have him on our team and that we picked him #1OA all those years ago

Yakov Trenin & Brandon Duhaime are free agents. Both had 200+ hits this season. Trenin is better offensively and is a center, so I would favor him but would be happy to add both players to the rosters. Defense it appears all eyes are on Zadorov, but they are figuring his contract could command $6 million a year. That would mean potentially moving a defenseman in the offseason to free up cap space. Fitz has his work cut out for him.

Keep the pick unless there’s a player available that we don’t know about. How many times do teams trade away top 10 picks and win the trade? Usually it’s a disaster for the team trading the pick.

Any trade for a marquis player won't happen this season. Tom Fitzgerald has given every blue chip player a full no trade clause, except Nico, he has a MNTC. So unless someone WANTS to go to Ottawa, nothing is gonna happen. That leaves Luke Hughes or Nemec.....so any trade will involve Mercer, or Nemec and the pick, as long as it it is top 10.

His brother is also a NHL Draft prospect and is a real good puck distributor and scorer.

Of all the options the Devils currently have, its Nico. You need to pair him though with a strict coach that will hold the team accountable. Nico , in time, could get to that level to drive accountability, but he needs to achieve winning on a big level 1st before he earns that role.

I’d rather have Nico in the lineup over Jack. Yeah I said it. For every point the Hughes brothers scored this year, they gave up at least a goal.

Need a star goalie and Brady Tkachuk that will solve some physicality problems. We are too soft. Brady delivered 16 hits on Devil's one game when whole team delivered 12 hits total that same guy to Senators.

I dont think anyone is putting anything that happened this year on nico's shoulders. They're simply questioning the C on his jersey, which in my opinion is debatable. I just wish he was more vocal and angry, and didn't look miserable after loses. I saw a glimpse of this when Bratt missed a few grade a changes close in front of the net, and nico slammed the bench in frustration with bratt sitting next to him. No doubt he is one of the most consistent players on the ice, but at this point in time with so many things needed to be fixed in the off season, moving the captaincy likely wont have a huge effect unless you move a player here that clearly is captain material, then you rip that A of palat and give it to nico.

Brady at 25 with 80 and 70+ point seasons on a non playoff team is so worth it. With our top 6 quality he and Jack could be hitting over 100+ points with Timo and Bratt hitting 80-90 points that said I'd be willing to give up: 1st round (7th-10th pick lets say) Dawson Mercer (we'd have to resign him anyway in $4-5 million+ range bridge deal) if not him id prefer giving up Holtz but we cant win them all Seamus Casey Nico Daws (Sens are notrious for trading goalies) for Brady and a 5th

Devils fans are bipolar. If the team isn’t performing they turn into an angry mob and call for heads. For example Timo Meier. It’s annoying.

Hughes got to get his defense and faceoffs together, then Hischier can concentrate more on himself as well. Hischier was just there to fill all the freaking holes this season.

A leader who is backing down from a fight. Maybe this is what leading by example means. He is a good two-way centre. Nothing more. You need to be a leader on the ice, not in the locker room

highly doubt they will trade that pick. Top ten picks rarely are traded in the NHL. I think more importantly they need to consider how they restructure the roster to become a more balanced team, i.e., a more difficult team to play against by becoming a better team defensively. Trading the pick for a goaltender or stud defenseman makes sense, but are their forwards, as a group, good enough two way players to create a more solid defensive structure. I don't know the answer, but believe they need to address this because they were way too easy to score against. Maybe a healthy Dougie Hamilton will be enough to bring them back to their prior season's success.

The pick is probably getting moved at 10th/11th OA. There's 100 hits a game in some of these playoff series rn. NJ has very little physical presence from both the forwards and defense. I can't agree with them just needing some injury luck to turn things around & get them into an ECF/SCF. Tbh, I think they lucked out with a good matchup against the Rangers before meeting the much more physical and disciplined Hurricanes ly. It's going to take that same discipline & added toughness WITH the core players continuing their growth if they want to accomplish big things. That's why I'm open to dealing for Tkatchuk if he's actually available. He's a unicorn. But regardless of Brady, they need to get tougher in general. There's other players out there they should target for that need, but getting it is a must.

Also, I’d be completely fine trading Mercer and Bratt for Tkachuk. He’s everything this team needs and we need to have the balls to make a big deal.

I agree that Tkachuk is awesome and I would love him on the Devils. The problem is not only the steep price but also he has no playoff experience. The Senators are a bad team and I have an issue emptying the roster for a guy who was the best player on a bad team…he still has a lot to prove.. think about how the Eric Lindros trade turned out for the Flyers.

Fitzgerald is too gunshy for my liking. If there's someone proven go and get him if there's no generational talent imo

Wait until after the lottery for sure. I would trade it if it ends up 10 or higher. Also, you can't trade Nico for Brady. Devil's center depth isn't good enough to trade Nico.
