The Best of the NT (with friends!)

Trying to give a good representation of Aus in two weeks is challenging, especially because it feels like a lifetime is not enough time to experience everything this country has to offer. But we did our best for two of our closest friends who flew around the world to come see us!!! Our first week was a little loop of the NT from Darwin down to Mataranka and all the things we saw in between. Tha...

Waiting for your new videos
Hi, how was the road conditions? did you get a lot of stone chip damage to your vehicle? thanks!
The roads were great when we went! We got one windscreen chip when a road train passed us going the other direction but that was it!
What a beautiful place to go birding!
Mobile looks grand Macy , plenty of wonder for the bub. Those basalt walls appear to be where the lava stopped leaving the more ancient ground (where you were standing) still exposed . ( i could be wrong) Those Snipe are Chonka buggers !
Some good hiking and birding there. Nice to see you so excited again. Thought you were about to make a big 'personal' announcement but no ... someone else's baby mobile, maybe next time !
A smile becomes you!
😍
I’m a new subscriber but I just found your channel and I’m already hooked. Your personality and aura are just so lovely, and I love your editing style too 🫶🏼
Thank you so much!! That’s so sweet 🥹
looks chilly . As a side note , your hair and earrings look beautiful Macy.
Getting warmer every day! Thanks so much!!
It's lovely to have an intimate one-on-one chat again. I was really excited to hear of your summer job, there's nothing better than being paid for what you love to do anyway !! With the bird song - it's so hard to learn very specific things out of context. Remembering the sound of a real bird you come across in the wild sticks with you much more I'm sure. I'll always remember the sound of black cockatoos when I first ran across them -holy fu*k !! what the hell was that racket !!??
Definitely trying to get outside more to connect the sound to an image!
When i see Macy i click. 🤛 Great capture of the place, plenty of geology and a beaver lodge !!! Wonder what they eat there, mussels ,fish ? (trees)
It’s such a cool place! Always appreciate the support 🫶
Nice video as always Macy. It looks freezing !! The landscape looks pretty sparse of vegetation - maybe that is why the birds are 'skittish', fewer places to hide nearby. Do a video of the family, especially the crazy ones ! 🙂
Definitely could be! I’ve surprisingly readjusted to the cold pretty quickly. Thanks for watching!!
@@macy.schmidt Are you ok ? I had a funny feeling I should ask 🤔
Looks like you guys had a great trip. Glad to see you enjoyed NZ. Halls Gap's got me though. Missing you guys, have a good one.
Still so sad to be so far from Halls Gap 😭 we'll be back though!!! xoxox we miss you too
Hey Macy , thought you might have got caught in the fires but turns out your in the land of "the long white cloud". Sad you left Oz , but so happy we got to watch you hangin out ! Stay awesome Macy.🤛
Sad we left Oz too and glad you enjoyed the videos, there will be more to come!
Nice one ! Did you hear about Halls Gap fires ? Dont wont to be a downer but i mentioned it just in case you hadn't . @@macy.schmidt
Nice to see you again Macy 🙂. New Zealand landscape looks amazing. I've had friends do the Milford Sound trek and tell me how good it is but never been to NZ myself !! in spite of going all over the rest of the world ! You sound a bit unsettled and it is sad to see you away from Australia, still, you will have a good time when you get home.
Definitely feeling a bit heartbroken but I know we'll be back. In the meantime, I'll just try to enjoy the time at home and exploring the US!
Hey Macy , was thinking i havent spotted an upload for a while ( don't stress ! ) Hope you're well and cruisin still , regards.
Working on a video now! I'll hopefully have it up in the next few days!!
You should visit cape York! Might even find palm cockatoos and eclectus parrots
I would love to, it sounds incredible! Maybe I'll be able to make it back someday 🤞
Truthfully… you’re the prettiest bird in the wild. 😉
That comedy movie "The big year" got me into birds. You sould check it out if you havent seen it.
I’ll have to check it out!
G'day! I used to love the lyrebirds in the Royal National Park south of Sydney but around my former home in Sydney we has a pair of satin bowerbirds and they were just stunning...the black male and the green female each with purple eyes! Cheers!female
Lyrebirds and bowerbirds were at the very top of our list for birds to see in Australia and we’re so glad we saw both. How lucky to see them all the time!
Yes, love sitting in the bush listening to the birds. If you return regularly to one spot they will get curious and check you out. The whip bird is one of my favourites, hard to see because they love hiding in the underbrush and move quickly, pretty though if you catch one on film. One camping trip my son (around 7 or 8) got a leech on his foot and there was blood everywhere when we took his shoe and sock off. Freaking shock to us both but no harm done. Admire your instincts for being in nature and making videos for us all.
We have Lorikeets, Rosellas, Magpies, Crested Pedgeons, Butcher Birds and Native Minors visit our garden. We like them all.Infact, we encourage them.We have a feeder outside our bedroom window and enjoy being entertained by our morning guests.
So excited to have feeders at our own home someday! Thanks for sharing!!
For Leaches l use a cigarette lighter...birds are amazing you hear them all communicating to each other and their songs...it is peaceful in the Australian bush no cars no people no pollution no problem. Just always looking for Joe blakes( snakes )you won't hear them move that was a skink l would say. Have a great day mate.😊
Just another day in paradise... (well except for the odd leach!). Thanks Macy, loved the audio, for people into birds Oz must be like paradise. Happy New Year!! to you both and may 24 be twice as good as 23 for you.
Many thanks! Oz has been a paradise for many reasons, happy new year!
Merry Christmas Ms Macy ! Hang loose 🤟georgeous girl 🤙
Merry Christmas to you Andy!!! Hope you had a good one!
Are you German ...
In ancestry, yes
I've birded there myself from the UK it's an incredible place.
I don’t think I ever could have gotten tired of it!
Please keep presenting these facinating insights into your lives.Although you don't attract a proitable number of viewers, for those of us who do enjoy seeing your films, you are providing an interesting distraction from monotony.
Thanks so much, Peter! I really appreciate all the comments and support. It feels good to know that there are people out there enjoying the content I create
Happy Birthday Macy. You and Gavin were heroic to tackle a pretty full on hiking experience including climbing Mt Ossa. It sounds like it was rewarding.
Thank you! It was definitely rewarding, so much of it felt like a dream haha
I understand about the roots under feet , i have to deal with ironstone rocks sitting on clays in WA when i prospect through winter. So lovely to see you out in the wild enjoying the time , beautiful Macy . Happy bday !!
It was so nice to be cut off from the outside world for a week!! Thanks for the bday wishes!!
Happy Birthday, and thank you for the great video!
My pleasure! It was a great day!!!
Happy birthday !! Plain to see how ecstatic you were to be there. Amazing part of the world. Videographers often don't talk about how time consuming it is to make good videos - setting up each shot, maybe trying a dozen times to get it right etc. - understandable that you had to cut back. I'd heard others talk about the difficulty in doing a lot of the side tracks. Glad you survived !!
Thanks so much! It was all so worth it
Stunning. An experience you'll never forget.
Absolutely!
Hi Macy, welcome to our beautiful state, can I just say the music over your dialogue is very annoying,I am struggling to hear what you are saying. Plus the music is terrible😅
Sorry about that. It sounded fine to me during editing but I'll keep that in mind for future videos, thanks for watching!
I love the fact your films avoid the usual popular tourist spots and concentrate on the soul of this country.
Say what ? All the locations filmed are very popular tourist spots lol
Yes Macy yes !! Those chonky poop mowers are awesome , and they can run "rocket fast".
I’m obsessed with them!
Awww ... Tassie is so pretty ! I'd forgotten the impact wineglass bay makes when you first come upon the view from the peak of the hill. The beaches around the Bicheno area with the bright white sand and the orange-hued rocks are enchanting. Nice video, though the background music drowned out your commentary sometimes. Glad you're having so much fun. Gav looks like he's getting some good loving too ! Can't wait to see you on the overland track.
Tassie is SO pretty!
How is it going?-what a outstanding !Macy!
It’s going so well!!!
💟😇Super video Australia and Natur live, Australia beutiful 💟😇
Glad you enjoyed it! Aus is gorgeous!!
Glad you loved Oz. Come back anytime… we have so much to discover. 😎
Absolutely! Such an incredible country!!
It will be hard when you go, you can hear it in your voice. Will definitely deserve a good cry on the plane ! Weird things in Oz no. 253: Feeling relief you can have a swim at the beach and not worry about crocodiles. I think Tassie might be your country - lots of mountains, beautiful scenery, some unique trees, more weird people etc.
So true! We just back from tassie and it was incredible!!
You can always return if you ever feel the deisre ,beautiful Macy . I remember that ache of missing home in my travels . Seems like you're ready to "get off the road" for a break too , it gets tiring !
Definitely! Feelings lots of feelings especially as we get closer to leaving. There’s no doubt we’ll be back, at least to visit!
You guys have a connection to the land in oz now..l think you will come back becouse you will miss it..l get home sick just leaving Victoria. 😊
Oh absolutely! Victoria is extra special (that’s why we came back haha)
Wow !! You packed a lot into that video, really professional now as well. We all know what it's like to want to go home. Some of Australia's most popular songs are just about that like Peter Allen's "I still call Australia Home". You will be so happy and excited once the moment comes to board that plane ! In the meantime .. have lots more fun .. it's easy to see how much you love being here.
I definitely have mixed feelings. A part of me wants to stay in Australia for forever 🥹
@@macy.schmidt I think you're a honorary Aussie already. We'll miss you if you don't come back one day !!
Whatever things are good, bad, better, worse or just different - home is always home. Go with your heart.
Home is always home. I just wish Australia wasn’t so far away!
Dont leave unless you want to most dearest Macy !! I know exactly how you feel and you will enjoy home and its familiarity. Australia will be the lesser for sure , but you'll always have a bit of bogan in you, success !!
PS , your hair cut looks gorgeous. ( im not a creepo)
I’m excited to visit home but also so not ready to leave Australia. It definitely has a really big piece of my heart
Yes Darwin is to humid for Me to ..Melbourne is for me, no humidity and you don't sweat unless exercising.
Go to bundaburgh brewery - try the fermented soft drinks they do - really good
Thanks for another lovely video, you both look so relaxed and happy. How excited would you have been to be let loose in the textile display and try everything on !!? You could have made great things out of some of the textiles too. Queensland is definitely an experience, what with their 'big things' and weirdo people. My son, when he was little, and I used to camp in the same tent you use - a possum snuck in one night and everyone went crazy when we woke in shock ! Yes, you are a treasure as an American tourist, I'm starting to forget you aren't from here 🙃.
I so enjoy the fact you showcase the Australia most tourist blog makers miss. And you make the effort to get to know the places you visit. Please keep these wonderful short films coming.
