The guest is extremely irresponsible and horrific eyeglasses dependency analogy. Drug dependence is a huge difference. Benzos are in fact dangerously addictive and harmful if stopped too quickly. It’s widely known.

I honestly think that depression and icd's gork hand in hand. i think for me, it started as buying stuff and smoking in my teens, then later in life as the habits sunk in, it led to depression as it became harder to break these habits.. now i'm here trying to figure out how to fix it 😅

For the record, several of my friends were injured after only taking benzos for 2 weeks. One had chronic akathisia for 4.5 years and now lives in blinding pain 8 years off. Another suffers 7 years off. My friend Stephen Bailey suffers chronic akathisia and pain 27 years off. Dozens of my friends are 9, 10, 15, even 27 years off and still suffering beyond belief. The idea that any of this is our “original condition” returning is laughable if it wasn’t so tragic. There is a reason Geraldine Burns got the Massachusetts Benzodiazepine Bill introduced. Watch the testimonies. Just a small snippet of the harm. No new patients should be started on daily benzodiazepines. I first got hurt stopping them after “only” taking them twice a week for two months. I let my RX run out not thinking it would be an issue. By 45 days off, I was getting worse and not better. When I stopped Klonopin this time, it was like a neurological bomb went off in my body. Benzodiazepines are not safe for anything but procedural use. The doctor is right though… SNRIs are nasty drugs too. Antidepressants are an even bigger offender of akathisia. Everyone think akathisia is transient when it’s evidence of brain injury. Akathisia is like tinnitus, the more it comes back, the harder it is to make it go away. Once can also be enough to make it chronic.

Benzodiazepine and benzodiazepine tapering injuries like “Benzodiazepine Induced Neurological Dysfunction” are real. Don’t fear “seizure” and “death” fear things you have to live with like chronic akathisia and other painful movement disorders. Find Nicole Lamberson PA and hear about the benzodiazepine injury she received in detox and listen to her discussions for the film Medicating Normal. Find Dr. Christy Huff MD and hear about her benzodiazepine injury and her work for The Benzodiazepine Information Coalition. Christy just lost her live this March over 5 years off. Find Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring Psychiatry and hear about his work tapering injured patients. I had no idea benzodiazepines could do this. I’ve seen the paradoxical reactions. I have seen it all. Especially the benzo turning on people and people getting hurt coming off. Most of my worst symptoms didn’t erupt until I was 4-12mths off. I am 44 mths off and hurt beyond imagination. Some might call it “tortured”.

I’m 60 and about a year ago I started experiencing weakness in my legs that had lasted for several months. One morning it was so bad that I could barely stand up, so I went to emergency. After the blood tests came back normal, and after a brief examination, the attending doctor - an FND specialist - diagnosed me with FND. I knew the diagnosis was wrong ... but I also knew that my medical record had recorded that my leg weakness, pain, numbness, and tingling were all “in my head.” So, I gave up seeking help because I knew that my medical complaints would be dismissed. In fact, another specialist - just 6 weeks ago - said my back pain was “impossible.” Last week, however, X-rays and MRI showed that I have spondylosis in several parts of my spine, I have spinal stenosis, a fractured T-9 vertebra, and a bulging lumbar disc. I wonder how often other patients are also misdiagnosed with FND. Probably a lot, I suspect. The way I see it, FND often means “Functional Non-Diagnosis” because some (not all) doctors are just too lazy or too egotistical to put in the work to find the real causes of symptoms.

I Have FND And have had CBT from psychological medicines, I found it helped with diversion, but never helped with my memory but also supported mental health, I have now put in a refferal for a physio therapist who works with ppl with FND I have copd , and a few other illnesses also , tremmors, swallowing issues also pins and needles that moves round the body , any shock or illnesses to the body triggers my tremmors, 1 big vicious circle, my eye sight keeps changing even went to black and white vision off and on , it effects my right side of my body especially my leg , foot mobility and head nod tremmors, arm tremmors Iv had this condition diagnosed 3 years but had symptoms before diagnosis possibly 11 years So many diffrent symptoms changing apart from a few that stays frequently. Iv a fair bit of medication, Both my parents had the same issues but undiagnosed I have very bad events of FND which can take nearly 3 weeks to recover from that interferes with my mobility, movement, tremmors very tiring with the tremmors on top Muscles tensing with the tremmors through the body and mobility issues , it effects my right foot like a stroke effect I drag it when it's severe till it goes , I have no control over this at all but Have to concentrate to get my body to function for mobility etc

My family member also had drug-induced catatonia on two separate occasions and once recovered they communicated that were fully aware during the episodes even though it did not appear to be the case. Thankfully lorazepam worked. It is still such a scary experience and I still want to learn as much as possible about it since it is a relatively rare occurrence.

Depression is general practice is not homogeneous. Everyone is different. Who is included in this study? We’re they actually complying with medication prior to inclusion in this study and to what degree. I have patients who stop without any difficulty the next day. Withdrawals aren’t a big feature in general practice. Only a small percentage of patients present with withdrawals but larger group relapse.
