Skilak Products LED Adventure Light Review
What temperature do you guys run those bikes at?
@@JoeObresley on the carb/TBI bikes we run them around 100-130F. Use tunnel coolers, and a 131F tstat.
That seems just crazy cold everything I’m reading about the new two strokes. It says they aren’t even warmed up until 140
Are you guys wrapping the can?
That opening shot is sooooooo lit!!!
@@tf841 thanks! It’s crazy where these bikes take us. I can’t get enough of it.
@@The_Snowbike_Channel I bet! Looks like so much fun!
Just don’t look at that tree/rock 😖
@@TylerN737s so true 😂👌🏽
Well done on this video, this in depth description of what needs to happen with the bike and Timbersled kit to perform these wheelies has been completely missing on you tube! I'm 255lbs, and I feel that my old style TSS is too soft even at 400lbs of air pressure, should I upgrade to the new one with the lockout, or just put a rigid strut in? Braaap!
@@farminainteasy Either way would work good. The new TSS-QSL with the lockout feature does a better job than the older TSS. I think the max air pressure on the new TSS is 400PSI. I think if you ran it around 400 and lock it out you would be happy with it. The solid strut isn’t a bad idea either especially now that the Fox QS3 shocks on the kits now are very good shocks. When running back at the end of the day on whooped trails it’s nice to quick select a softer setting and give your back a break.
Great video and well described details. The opening shots make me miss riding AK more than ever. Wish snowbikes were a thing when I lived there😂
@@snowpacalypsenow1231 I wish I got into it sooner! It’s been fun seeing the snowbike community grow up here.
Ive got a question, would you recommend just running a heat exchanger ? Instead of the radiator heat exchanger conbo.
@@encrypted9720 that would work just fine. I know Trevyn Newpher does that and has said it eliminates the steam at the front of the bike which would be awesome. I would run their medium size or large. I kept my rads mostly because I wanted to try it that way first and later decide if I could remove them. I don’t see any issue doing that. I will say keeping your rads you have a ton of coolant and that might help on those warm days or trail rides.
How about freezing rain/mist?
@@chacal82 haven’t had a chance to test them in those conditions however only the inner lens is heated and I am guessing if the freezing rain or mist was severe enough the goggles wouldn’t be able to keep it from icing. In that case, you could carry a spare lens and quickly swap out the outer lens without even taking your gloves off. Very easy and quick plus the outer lenses are cheap.
Thanks for posting this! Can you tell us their weight? Thanks 👍
@@JasonCaville Tempest 8.9 ounces For reference 509 Ignites are 12 ounces.
@ Thanks👍 My Klim eFires are 12.9 oz.
Super overpriced
@@mclarenlewis7845 I agree for what your getting.
Like I understand from a business perspective why the product needs to be the price that it is it looks like a really high-quality product but that being said the market doesn’t always support a high-quality part. One could sell bent steel tabs that take stock pegs for a 10th of the R&D cost and you could still probably sell them for 50 bucks with the ability to upgrade to higher end components and sell 50 X.
@@mclarenlewis7845 some of my friends and I are playing around with some cheap $15 pegs we found on Amazon. I’ll report back how those work. I will say though these Sidehill pegs are unmatched in quality. There’s a few design quirks I wish were worked out for the price but it is what it is.
@ please do report on what you find.
and and and and and and and and irritating
@@JayDunning-j9k good morning Jay what do you find irritating?
Great when it works. After about 4 uses, mine had an issue where the light would last 10 mins then die. Battery charge indicator kept showing battery was dead. Charged battery, same thing. Died after 10 mins. Tried calling Skilak multiple times, no answer. Tried emailing, no reply. Hope others have better luck than me. Goodbye $150.
@@kanger328 I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve heard they normally take good care of their customers.
Thanks!
I love mine.
Man, is there no end to the mechanical complications & money to spend on the things you need just to keep riding? I used to think scraping a snowboard & cleaning the edges every few months was a hassle! Guess I'll put that jump box on the list. Thx.
Just ordered one. Yeah I've got too much money anyway!
@@FaithandActiondotnet I’m guessing you can ride right from the house or truck not too far from your place? Might be more of a safety thing for you rather than a mandatory thing. There’s days up here no matter what battery one has in their bike it won’t start after a 3 hour truck ride north in -20F.
@@The_Snowbike_Channel Well my garage is not heated so if it's cold & I wanna go ride I can just use the jump box instead of heating up my trailer. Plus, I may want to travel up there one day. If it keeps raining here I'll be trying to move somewhere up there.
Sage advice.
Nobody wants to hear that I wanna hear the bike lol
I think the different 300 models are the SX with a 5 speed close ratio transmission and suspension set up for motocross. The XC is a 6 speed, close ratio trans, with off road suspension using a linkage arrangement. The XC-W is a 6 speed, wide ratio trans with off road suspension using a linkage-less arrangement. Also, I believe the SX uses engine management tuned for track use.
@@denmarktwp nailed it
Does the photchromic lens change in tint when used, I had the 509 photo chromatic ones they said it changed tint but apparently mine didn’t or I didn’t notice
@@Timcanniff311 100% these photochromic lenses go from nearly clear to full on dark. Pretty impressive how well they work.
@ they also look like a black mirror in your video, it does look sweet
i little over priced i think for pegs
@@asmodeus338 I have to agree. There is a company making $28 mounts and you supply your own OEM pegs. Try emailing Support@elektrischesracing.com and asking about that product. Looks promising for the price and doesn’t slide on the bolt for install it has a single hole so no risk of loosing a peg on the mtn if the bolt ever came loose.
That motor isn't going to last long
@@Mostviews111 third season running this bike.
What track roll out were you running on the 5hundo?
@@RyonReginato I never got around to measuring it. I ran two different kits on that bike. 2019 Aro 137 stock gearing. 2017 MHST 120 and ran smaller 12 T countershaft and smaller 16 or 17T jackshaft sprocket.
Absolutely love your videos! Always very detailed when explaining all the different mods with their pros/cons. I see this bike you’re running the Selkirk armor. Have you ever been in the deep pow finding that the belly pan heat exchanger is providing too much cooling before the XRT exchanger can work properly? I had a very similar setup last year that I struggled to keep warm in the deep days. Wondered if deleting that exchanger would help in all conditions?
@@jakeflattum9129 thanks man! I run two very different setups between my 300SX and my 450SXF. The heat exchanger in the skidplate isn’t really meant for cooling, instead it keeps ice and snow from collecting at the bottom and making a big brick of ice. So On my 450SXF I run the Selkirk armor and no XRT heat exchanger. The 300SX had an issue where the rads alone were not enough to keep that bike cooled down. The two strokes really make their best power between 100-140F and the 4-strokes like to be warmer in the 170-210F range.
Why are you the only one talking bout these! Sled guys are missing out!

What a beautiful bike! These machines are just so epic! Haven't even started building mine yet, been insulating an enclosed trailer that's become an all-encompassing project! I went with a remap on my stock ECU, how much of a difference do you think that makes? Thanks for all the info', it's really helpful to see the options out there & techniques that come from serious experience.
@@FaithandActiondotnet thanks Kanji, means a lot. Every tuner tries their best to make maps that suit their own needs. Some want subtle power delivery that’s “tractable and easy” and others want abrupt power. It really depends who mapped the tune for the reflash. Often these MX bikes will over fuel when cold and many of the snowbike tuners know that many people use inadequate engine covers so fuel is often taken away from the fuel table to compensate. My philosophy is work hard to keep the engine warm as possible and use stock mapping from KTM. This is what I have down on all of my 450’s. Exception being street legal (emissions compliant) enduro builds I have done on the KTM 500. Those need aftermarket tunes for reliable snowbiking, they are too lean from the factory. This is my first season trying the KTM Connectivity Offroad Unit which allows *small changes to the engines characteristics.
@@The_Snowbike_Channel What are the target temperatures? I've always just had the rad' cap thermometer but I had to get a C3 thermostat this year.
I was able to put mine on with a boxed end wrench.
I watched the 300 update video and this one today. Is the 4t xc transmission not a wide ratio like the 2t? Both awesome bikes man! Love the content. Keep up the good work 🙏
@@chriszaeske5090 correct. SXF/XCF share same transmission (5 speed) SX/XC have different transmissions 5sp vs 6sp. KTM likes to keep us guessing lol

Hey Jared really like your videos. Wife and I are on our second season on snow bikes. So far we really enjoy it. Is the tss worth it?
@@mitchviau Hey Thanks! Appreciate the support. Yes, I feel the TSS-QSL is worth it for sure. They are spendy but really help absorb nasty hits and absorb hits on the trail. I like to leave mine locked out on the mtn but will soften it up for the ride home. Nice to have the option especially on days when the snow is firm! Hope this helps. Sometimes Timbersled has a $150 off orders over $750 and that’s the time to snag the TSS-QSL.
Thanks for the info. I have mine and the wife’s bike that I’ll keep an eye out for a bit of savings if they do drop a bit.

Have you ever ever had issues with the fork clamps when attaching the spindle was tightening it up nice and evenly today and it broke as I was torquing it.
@@Night_rider92 no haven’t had that issue before. There is supposed to an even gap between the front and back and usually leaves about 1/8” or so gap. I just try and split the difference and make it even. I think you can order just the spindle fork clamps from Timbersled.
@@The_Snowbike_Channel yea I did for sure haven’t had this issue before and yea got some coming! Gotta love aluminum.
love the video, got the same bike, what are the handguards you are running?
@@kellywinters-l9t last winter I ran the Timbersled Cycra Pro Bends. Awesome handguards but had to change to a top clamp mounted hand guard because of my handlebars. I’m running the Cheetah Factory Racing SX handlebar and this bar is a bit tricky mounting handguards to so I went to the Reflex Racing handguards. I like them a lot because they have some flex to them and are tough.
We’re stoked you got the pegs! A few points on installation: you DO NOT need to disassemble the pegs. We made it so you can fit the enclosed end of a box-end wrench between the footpeg and the bolt and then spin the peg with the wrench until it’s snug. We had four different wrench brands to benchmark when designing the tolerances. You will still have enough room to tighten it down. We’ve done it on every install without any issues. As for dimples on the back of the mount, we left them without guide holes so if you hit something hard, the peg can rotate. We also wanted people to be able to put them at any angle. So far, we haven’t had any rotation issues. Adding Loctite to the bolt is up to you; Timbersled uses it liberally, and our MTN.TOP kit didn’t come with any. As for torque, we tightened them like any other bolt on the kit. We have hundreds of hours of use on these pegs, tightening them by hand with an open-end wrench. If they spun, we tightened up a little more. If they were head studs, we’d grab the torque wrench for sure. As for the bolt strength, 200 lbs ain’t nothing for a 10mm grade 8 bolt. Can’t wait to see you rip these this winter. If you or anyone has questions feel free to reach out to us!
Couldnt agree more on the selkirk being far superior in the heated bar options that are out there

@@joel387ktm thanks! I had a chance to ride a CMX last season and it was a fun rowdy kit.
Nice! Good tips! Gearing is so cool!
I'd like more top-end.
I want to make 3rd gear a little more useable on my 300 TPI, so i thought about gear it down a hair, running 1:1 right now. but i also hate to lose any top end, I'm not saying I do a ton of trail riding with it, but sometimes we have to ride 5-10 miles at the start of the day to get to the spots. might try the similar gearing you run the yours
@@Nicky_Pin_It is your bike a 6-speed? The 1:1 ratio might be a tad too tall for that bike. I bet if you gear it down a bit you’ll use 3rd gear more. BTW, TSP makes some good products to get a little more power out of the 300TPI bikes. Check out their heads and ERM for remapping the bike.
