Thank you for all your videos, I have found I use the shuttle thread for my stitches and not the thread over the hand, does this make a differences? Will try your method, but I have fingers that knot and have to release the finger stiffness. Thanks for sharing
Love the way you explain this. I used your method for needle tatting and it worked beautifully. thank you for your patience.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it

Darn, I just put my bobbin lace stuff in storage!
Ooooh. Did the video inspire you to pull it out?😁
@ Well, after I commented on the video I had a nasty fall and buggered up my foot. The pillow will stay in storage, but while I am laid up, this would be an excellent way to pass the time.
@@MyQuiltProjects I'm sorry to hear that! I hope you heal quickly and can get back into your craft. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
I’ve never seen bobbins wound like this before! My brain is struggling to comprehend how it works haha. Also at the start it looks like you’re winding the thread in one direction to get it started but then it looks like it’s going the opposite direction when you do your main winding (but I guess that’s just an optical illusion because otherwise you’d be unwinding what you’d already started)
I can't take credit for this method as I saw it somewhere else...but it makes it so much faster!
I’ve learned a lot from your channel about tatting and now it’s really nice to see you doing bobbin lace too! I tried for years (on and off) to teach myself bobbin lace, but it was hard just learning from books. Later, RUclips helped but it was still hard to progress very far. Last year I found a class fairly near where I live and it’s really helped me to have a teacher to explain and be able to ask questions. I did a few lace videos before I started the classes, but now I want to do a new series showing what I’ve learned. That pattern you are working on is stunning! So many techniques all in one piece, well done!
I struggle to learn from books - I'm a very visual learner. Bobbin lace is not easy to learn on your own! I won't be making instructional videos with bobbin lace but it's fun to share bit and pieces with everyone.
@NooBearAus bobbin lace is definitely one of those crafts where the more you learn, the more you realise how much there still is to learn!

I know these videos are from a long time ago, but I just found them yesterday. I've been trying to learn this technique for quite a long time and this is the first one I find SO CLEAR!!!! Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge. I hope I will ever do something with it. So far it has only been learning

Ottimo tutorial Grazie, mi iscrivo. 😊
Thank you! And welcome, I hope you enjoy my channel. 🙂
I love these so much, especially the ones you did and showed at the beginning, that you made with embroidery thread, and sewing machine thread!😍😍 Could you please tell me if you had to harden them (if so what did you use?) or do they sit like that? Also what sewing machine thread did you use please. Honestly, they are so inspiring, and helping to motivate me through my inevitable beginner frustrations when they occur (mostly I'm just having lots of fun though, even through my beginner frustration moments, but this inpspiration really helps so much). thank you so much for you clear and helpful lessons. I'm grateful. (I'm in the UK, so too far away to visit your shop).
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy my channel. I didn't stiffen it at all, I used Gutermann sewing thread. Shipping to the UK isn't a problem, I ship worldwide. 🙂
@@NooBearAus thanks for the info about the thread. I was actually thinking, that i don't generally enjoy shopping in person at all, with the exception that I do really enjoy visiting craft and yarn shops , but sadly can't visit to enjoy looking around. I'll certainly check out your online shop though. Thank you.
@@someofthemuffin3146 I hope you find the thread you like. 🙂
Why did you not show how you switched colors? I'm lost.
Because this motif is meant to be made in one piece. I only did it in different colours to explain each section.
Your videos are the Best! Thank you so much!
Thank you!
I found your videos after i learnt to flip the knot from another video and chains and picots from yet other videos. I am still an early beginner though, and decided to watch this to see if i could learn something, as fundamentals are important. And i did. I was winding on in a windmill fashion and didn't know about the walk wind. I also learnt about tensioning in a new way which i'll try. I'm also watching your other vidoes. thank you for your great teaching and really clear videos.
Thank you! I'm thrilled it's helping you.
❤❤❤❤❤ I will never forget this lovely journey despite my dyslexia... thanks Monique learning in my own pace and this is helping for self care.... ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Aww, thank you so much Ruth! I'm so happy I can help you learn.💖💖
Have you ever come across a join to bare thread? You see, I bought a book by Robin Perfetti "Four dozen tatted bookmarks" and in the very first design she uses the bare thread between the rings to make a join. Do you ever do that? If so, what's your opinion about it?
I'm not really following what you mean. If you'd like to send me a PM with the part you're referring to, I'll have a look.
@@NooBearAus I'll try here, because I don't know how to pm. Well, you make 1 ring, then reverse your work. Then leaving some bare thread you make a second ring, which you join to a picot of the first ring as usual. Then again reverse your work. Make a third ring and join it to the bare thread between the previous two rings. I follow your lovely channel and you're wonderful to learn from. It seems such an unusual way to make a join, doesn't it? It's not mentioned in "the complete book of tatting" by Rebecca Jones either. Anyway, it's mainly curiosity on my part, :-))
@@mariannecamps8309 Thank you for your lovely compliment, I'm glad you enjoy my channel. What you describe sounds like a form of mignonette, or maybe she just used bare thread as a feature. It's not uncommon to do so.🙂
@@NooBearAus Thank you so much! This was very helpful and I'll definitely enjoy the book more now.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This is so important and usefull! It hapens to all tatting... and now much easier!
You're so very welcome!
Hi Noo Bear - Thanks for this wonderful sharing! I have a different experience to share: In the motif sample from this video, you can still use a normal ring-ring join without twisting the picot. Of course, the folded join works too. I think the scenarios that require a folded join must meet two conditions: 1) When the picot to be joined is on the right side (usually it's on the left side for right-handers), which typically occurs at the last ring about to connect with the initial ring. 2) The direction in which the last ring closes is an enclosed space. For example, in a normal five-petal ring flower, the final join must use a folded join because the center of the flower is an enclosed space. So in your sample video motif, the direction in which the last ring closes is an open space, so you can actually use a normal ring-ring join. Of course, if you want to keep it simple to remember, always using a folded join for the first and last rings is also fine. These are my experiences, and I welcome further discussion. Thanks again for your sharing; I've learned a lot from your channel! 😊
Pretty music 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much, I'm a beginner and I'm learning so much from you ❤ I especially appreciate the tips useful to do a good work. I've a question, if you don't have letters or numbers with the order to follow and you have to guess in two adiacent rings which one to do first, like all the two rings similar to A and B that follow in this pattern, how do you know which one you have to tat first? Like G H or O P...if it's not specified how do I know which ring has to be done first? And in the case of two opposite rings when one need to be reversed like M and N how do you know which one to do first and which one of the two is the reversed one?
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying my videos. I'll try to answer you as best I can without confusing you! I find it much easier to explain things if I can demonstrate or show you on a pattern... but we'll see how we go! 😆 When you learn how to read a pattern and become more familiar with reversing work you'll see that you don't guess which ring to do next, or which way to go because the pattern and the 'order of progression' actually tells you. Something that will help you understand, is to trace the pattern with your finger. Never lift your finger off the pattern, and don't cross a path (so never go over an area twice and don't jump from one side to the other) you must be able to make a 'clean' tracing. Rings are worked in a clockwise direction. If you start on the left side, at base of ring A, tracing the ring you finish at the base, on the right side of Ring A ready to continue on to Ring B. Jumping down to Ring F, trace the chain. Without lifting your finger trace ring H and then Ring G - you finish on the inside of the chain. You can't continue with the next chain of 20 from this position. The other thing that comes into play here is the reversing of your work. Once you've worked the chain from Ring F to Ring G, you need to reverse your work so that Ring G is facing the right way. I hope that helps! I teach online classes, send me a pm if you're interested. All the best with your tatting!
Thanks sooooooo much for your help! I’ll follow your directions, thanks for your time and patience❤
@@barbaravaia2736 You're very welcome! Let me know how you go.🥰
'Victorian sets' and 'node stitch' are not interchangeable. Node stitch is the reverse smooth side of the cord where the nodes between the sets just peep above and below the line. Refer to Elgiva Nicholls' work.

Fantastic!
I love your tutorials - I tried following your example but found it a lot easier to use a picot gauge (to hold the fluffy loops steady), its funny because I don't normally use a gauge but you do except for these knots.
