Are the Smartwool boxers too warm? I feel like wool in temps above about 75 might get hot.
No they are pretty breathable. They are as good in heat as any other boxers I’ve owned
Thanks for ur video. Can u advise a budget good ski jacket? Is Columbia fine?
Are you using it for downhill skiing? Generally a Columbia jacket will do just fine unless you are doing something that requires specialized equipment.
@WillFaulkner thanks for ur reply! I'm a beginner...just worried if it's warm enough as I run cold easily..
@@buttlebe yea you’ll be fine. Just wear a long sleeve thermal shirt and a sweater over and that should be plenty
I’m 6 ft 5 and have broad shoulders, would I fit a size XXL?
Those type of sandals are a disaster waiting to happen. I've seen too many people with damage, cuts etc on the front of their feet as most 3rd world countries don't have good footpaths etc.
Yea I agree, if I’m walking in that type of path, I would wear my shoes
Will, will you do a review on Beta AR stormhood jacket?
Yea I’d like to if I can get one on sale
I prefer the Atom SL . The LT is too warm for me as active layer for 3 seasons
Useful review, thanks.
My main question is; if the revised beta has a 80d construction throughout, wouldn’t that make it more durable against general wear and outdoor use compared to the AR’s 40/80?
Part of it has to do with the Goretex membrane. There is more to the durability than just the face fabric.
If I see the diff color pocket squares I'm going to call it out just to be a dick lol
I bought a marmot gortex single ply fir $30 and the seam tape is coming off. So i duct taped it. 🤣🤣🤣
I like it
@@WillFaulkner sometime 8 will get a new shell.
Just an FYI, beta lightweight and beta lt or separate jackets.
Great review Will. Appreciated! Any way you could review/compare the Rook 65 with the AGLT 65?
Yea I’ll look into it
Nice backpack
There is nothing surprising about the fall of Arcteryx. I’ve already heard from several friends about the decline in quality in their equipment. And the huge number of fakes only makes the situation worse
I own an LT and I’m confused as to why canadians wear insulation jackets without a base layer? If you understand how base a layering system works it doesn’t really make sense and it’s also kinda unhygienic (unless you’re washing your insulation layers regularly, which will inevitably degrade the insulation). I live in Scotland and it would never occur to me to throw an extra insulation jacket on over my bare torso, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard of anyone doing so in my 38 years living here, but the last video I watched a dude from Canada said the same about the Proton 😂 Edit: My only complaint is the fleece panels, your kidneys can and will get dangerously cold on a windy winters day, even with a base layer and a shell.
I don’t think anyone wears the atom with nothing underneath. If it’s being used for causal use people probably just wear a regular cotton t shirt. A thermal base layer would definitely make it warmer
i never knew i was this poor, ive never thought of comfortable underwear
Loll
Did the shoulder strap you showed come with your bag. Mine didn’t come with one, if not what do you recommend
Yea it came with mine. Does yours have the two loops on the side of the bag to connect a strap? Maybe contact Osprey and they’ll send one
The latest model doesn't have a strap and strap connectors. There are three models of this, the first two models came with a strap but the latest version doesn't.
Hey there! Just wondering if you had your trip yet and if so, anything you'd change about your loadout =)
One thing I recently switched to is a linen towel instead of a microfibre one. It’s just as packable and the linen is way better at drying me off.
Very enlightening video, congrats.
Love mine, it's awesome
With respects, it maybe what you dont expect it to be, but we all have different expectations regarding a backpack. This LT is meant to be different from the normal one. ..saying that, Im 60 and have a long term back problem from my Army service, and have used all the Osprey Atmos range. They all have been perfect for me. I been out two days with this new one, and its just as good as the others but with more capacity. And suffered no back problems..It serves it puprpose, and definitely gets a great thumbs up from me 👍..
WTF, 3 boxers for a month??? that's disgusting. how often are you washing and rotating them?
Every couple days in the sink. They are light weight and dry quickly
Thank you for the solid video, you've helped me very much with the final stage of decisions! I'mma go with the LT. Heading to Japan for 2 weeks!
That’s awesome ! So exciting !
Nice inspiration, will use part of it for upcoming business trip to US
Thanks !
Nice fleece, I just picked one up!
Awesome !
THis really inspired me to review my packing list and cut more things, thank you!
Awesome !
Thanks
Curious what you do for work that allowed you so much travel time and compensation to pay for it 🙏 also thinking Aer 3 for my bag
I am a CPA and do financial management advisory services.
@@WillFaulkner I hate, I meant im jealous ! Good for you
I love your videos! I never realized that there were so many T-shirts with so many variations! I wish things were as easy for us gals :-) thanks for your information! Great video!!
Yea it’s much simpler for men’s clothing
I'm really contemplating this jacket for my main hardshell... please do make an update vid when you've tested further! 😀
So the jacket if free from forever chemicals but the DWR u will be spraying on that jacket every 2 days is full of fluorocarbons so what's the point? Oh I forgot ,its for a dumb beta male ...
I wouldn't get one just because of the name ....beta . Clearly its for soyboys like this guy or women so who cares if it works . I'll rather have alpha lt
Great breakdown of the two versions!
It does what it was designed to do - breathe with activity. When a fabric breathes, it lets heat out. That transfer is not one way. To let heat out, the fabric inevitably lets external air in. That's why it does not hold up in wind or inactivity. This is perhaps my favorite spring, fall and travel jacket.
Are they appropriate for everyday use, like attending college or just going town or going for a walk not in forest etc
Yea it’s totally fine for that depending on what temperature it gets too
@@WillFaulkner I guess what I mean is if you don’t look like a weirdo whilst wearing it in public unlike mountains, hiking and so forth
@@DarioYael oh yea it looks like a normal good looking jacket
@@WillFaulkner do you think there are better alternatives from this company of course… in terms of fashion
@@DarioYael this is probably the most casual looking jacket. A lot of the others are more sporty looking
Is the waist belt able to be tucked away?
Yes, it can be hidden away with same cover thats used for shoulder straps. Rolls out from bottom
Can the detachable brain be used as a daypack or sling?
No, you could carry it but it has no built in strap
Will it fit a 14.5 with a Law folder?
Yes
I’m 5’7 medium build woman, I like oversized jackets and ability to layer but I don’t want to be swimming in it … do you think large will be too big?
I’m not super knowledgeable on women’s sizes. If you normally where a medium, then large might be fine in this case
Nice review ! I have one question tho Which would you get, the beta LT or the NORRØNA Lofoten. For general rain, touring and hiking? Thanks man!
What type or touring? Ski touring ? If so I recommend the Lofoten. Otherwise just get the Beta LT
how tall are you and what size is it?
6'1, I got a size large
This answers the questions I had about the bags. I tried on the packs today.
Which one did you end up choosing ?
@@WillFaulkner Your video helped me to understand the differences between the AG LT and the original AB. I'm leaning towards the LT , if I get the Osprey - which is likely. - But I am also considering the Gossamer Gear Mariposa 60.
The heck are you doing with your hands every 2 seconds.. maan
Hi Will . As mentioned in the video for 500 dollars there should be no compromise regarding the jacket .
Yup totally agree
The outlined act is drab. 📄 A regular occurrence
Yea I think I have the previous version
Hi, i have the new version of the Fairview 40 and the zipper of the laptop compartment has a loop to put a lock on it. I can't tell from the pictures, but I would assume the Farpoint is the same.
the ag system is all you should focus on. its the most important part. the rest is just a standard back.
Agree, the ag system really is amazing
I just got an atmos ag 50 (not LT) yesterday and it came with the rain cover on the bottom beneath the sleeping bag access zipper.
Oh that’s good to know !
I think you might have missed that your "old" AG 50 got replaced with a new AG series (differences are really minor). The AG LT series sits next to the new AG as just a less feature rich, lighter version of that. Nothing major, just the video presents the LT as a replacement for the AG which it's not meant to. LT is still a great choice 👍
Yea I don’t see it as a replacement. It’s more to compare which one is best depending on your needs.
Good vid, very informative! Im in view of the beta lightweight for mainly skiing 0-30f, and some casual wear. 175 slim build so was thinking size S. However since I would have to fit layers in winter I'm now also considering the beta ar stormhood for more room, where the cons would be less casual wear and probably a worse fit for thinn layerd spring skiing. What would be your opinion? many thanks.
I ageee, go with the beta ar
I disagree to go with beta AR . Its way heavier , less packable and a 100usd pricier. Extremly satisfied with the Beta Lightweight so far used in Norway and Iceland this Spring . My Beta AR feels not so breathable therefore fast clammy , and i cant pack it so well . Beta Lightweight is superb
Nice review! I’m super short, standing 163cm so I’m thinking the XS would be best? Or do you think I should size up?
I agree with going XS
