Unfortunately, MixEffect doesn't support uploading of video or audio clips to the ATEM. I would continue to use ATEM Software Control for that purpose.

People have reported SSD issues. Check Blackmagic’s list of supported SSDs to see if anything changed in the 9.5.1 update.

@@AdamTow I'm using a Samsung T7 ssd - it should be supported after the new update, but it's not - I also wrote to BD support but no response from them

@@LANI-VIDEOanother user on my MixEffect Facebook group mentioned they had a T7 which no longer worked. The person said it’s not longer on the list of supported drives. The T7 Shield SSF does work however. You have a choice to stay on the older firmware (which would mean you lose some of the new functionality) or get a different SSD drive. Sorry!

USB View and controlling ATEM from USB has no effect in Ethernet connection. You should be able to use other network devices to control the ATEM. USB View via direct USB connection can be combined.

@AdamTow, ideally I would like to have a single usbc cable connecting the switcher to the iPad and have multi view along with control of the switcher without any additional hardware. Are you saying I can do that?

@@jancarsonweatherby1579 Yes, this will work. You may need to use a USB-C to USB-A from the ATEM and use a USB-A to USB-C adapter into the iPad for this to work. I would recommend using a USB-C hub with the iPad because you'll be able to power it (and you can plug a USB-C to USB-A cable from the ATEM to USB-C hub). This only works on iPads with USB-C or Thunderbolt connectors.

@AdamTow is there a specific reason the signal has to convert from USB-C to USB-A and back again? And is there a reason, besides powering the iPad, to use a hub at all?

@ something about which device decides to be the host. By using the adapter, one of the devices becomes the host and the other becomes the accessory.

I shoot RAW + JPEG, and I only uploaded the JPEGs to the cloud. Bandwidth, even today, makes it difficult to upload the RAW images. My workflow did rename the JPEGs to the same filename that the RAW files would be renamed (shooting date and time + frame number). So, once I transferred the RAW files, I could reference them using the JPEG filename in Photos.

There’s a menu option to install the presets if they weren’t automatically installed. Go to the View All Presets (the icon with four boxes in upper-right) page, tap the options button (again, upper-right button), and choose Reset Presets.

My last MacBook Pro prior to my 14" M2 Max MBP was the 15" 2015 MBP. I gave it to a family member, and I think it's still in use today. macOS Monterey is still somewhat recent, but do you see yourself using OpenCore Legacy Patcher to bring it up-to-date maybe next year? My rack mounted M1 Mac mini is connected to a Sonnet Echo expansion box. It holds the DeckLink Duo card for when I have to use ZoomISO. Turn that 2020 M1 Mac mini into a server for your home or as an extra video input for your studio.

@@AdamTow I tried OCLP on a 2017 MacBook Air in the past. I think i ran into a problem trying to keep the OS(Sonoma?) up-to-date, and eventually put it back to the supported MacOS version. It worked for me for awhile. I may try it again one day with my 2015 iMac. Thanks for the suggestions.

True. My M1 Mac mini sits on the floor of my rolling rack. I think the colo facilities that specialize in mini deployments put them on the sides. So they will be saving some space I think (though how much I don’t know since they are thicker than the previous generation).

@@tdivina28 are you referring to SuperSourfe Box 1? Unfortunately, you cannot do transitions within SuperSource boxes. You could animate between box 1 and 2 in your presets, moving box 1 off screen when box 2 comes on screen for instance. The other option is to combine multiple ATEMs so the box sources are powered by the other ATEM. Then you can do transitions on that ATEM and the one doing the SuperSource will see them occur in the box. But that complicates things because now you have to manage two ATEMs.

@@tdivina28 You can use the two DVEs to get two additional boxes. They won’t operate the same as SuperSource boxes, but you can use this method to get 6 boxes on screen. Combine MixEffect with Companion/Stream Deck to display all six on screen at the same time. Several of the sample presets show the parameters you need to specify for a 5 or 6 box layout using the DVEs (check in the preset description).

Yes that’s how MixEffect can work. With the newer ATEM firmware, some models you can connect a USB cable between MixEffect device and the ATEM and get a connection.

I think the gating factor is less the storage space and more the processing power. From the tech specs, it looks like there are some features that are only available for the M1 and up processor line. Plus, the screen real estate might be a bit cramped on the mini. I would try it out and report back!

From your description, it looks like you are connecting to the ATEM Simulator that’s part of MixEffect (is there a purple bar at the top)? As explained in MixEffect´s documentation, make sure that you entered in MixEffect the correct IP Address for your Atem switcher (e.g. 10.0.1.50) This is the same address you use in the ATEM Software Control application on macOS and Windows.

Which ATEM are you using?

I was logged into the Zoom session on two machines. One was using ZoomISO and the other my normal Zoom client. However, with the new version of ZoomISO (we were using 1.x), you get ISO video and audio, along with more options to get the right mix to your ATEM.

@@AdamTow It didn't solve anything. Is an iPad what I want to connect. The iP and everything is the same.

The IP address you need to enter into MixEffect is the IP address of the ATEM mini Pro ISO. When you connect to the simulator, you are entering the IP address of the device running MixEffect. You get the IP address of the ATEM from the ATEM Setup app on your Mac or PC. Again, the troubleshooting document goes through this. Please follow the flowchart too to see where you get stuck and how to resolve.

You can turn on Shortcut Macros which will you can use with MixEffect and a shortcut to enable VFA. Unfortunately, VFA is a feature of MixEffect, and macros only affect the ATEM. See this for more details: docs.mixeffect.app/explore/macros/shortcut-macros You can also enable in Switcher Settings to always turn on VFA. This is useful if you experience disconnects or just want VFA to be enabled whenever you connect to a particular switcher connection. docs.mixeffect.app/configure/switcher-connections#video-follows-audio

@@estrellasfamosasenaccion Yes on the video loop. Play it back on another device, plugged into one of the HDMI inputs of the ATEM. In the SuperSource Art tab, you set the source to that HDMI inputs. For the image overlay on the laptop video, that will be a little more complicated because you’ll want the overlay to follow the laptop signal as you change SuperSource presets. Is this a hard requirement? Or can you use the DSK feature of the ATEM to overlay an image on top of everything? People can accomplish this by placing another device between the laptop and the ATEM, providing the overlay. Like another ATEM or OBS running on another computer.

I think it's possible on the Mac, but I would need to refactor the app to get this to work. I'll put it on the feature request list!

Switching to the wide angle when anyone starts speaking can work if you set VFA to change the camera when any of the 2-4 people mics are active. VFA works on individual audio sources, so you cannot create a trigger for any audio source. There's a video from Aaron Parecki where he shows off how he was using VFA with me. Check out: ruclips.net/video/E1nI5-p35AE/видео.html I would focus first on creating the different SuperSource presets, then linking them up with VFA triggers. Keep in mind that if you have the wide angle shot via random audio working, you won't be able to use the SuperSource presets (because it will keep switching to the wide angle shot). Some people solve this by having the wide angle shot trigger when the Master audio dips below a certain level.

@@BuzzLightroom Back and forward are Command-[ and Command-] respectively. You can hold down the Command key for a few seconds to see a pop-up display of keyboard shortcuts in many applications. Escape key is useful for developers; I’m glad that they added it to the Magic Keyboard. The fabric on my Smart Folio keyboard is starting to split at the edges. I have to see if I can super glue it back together, because it’s just going to get worse over time.

@@AdamTow It appeared I had somehow entered "Full Keyboard Access" mode. I switched it off and that cmd-arrow key navigation began working again. Also I didn't have to see the intermittent blue frame (extending through the screen edge radi! :D). One con with the new keyboard is the weight, but I haven't seen it mentioned much in reviews. It is quite heavy, but it also makes me happy with the 11" choice over the 13", because the 13" definitely would've overlapped a bit with the use cases of my MBP 13" M1. Quality feel however is very nice, and the ability to bring the iPad bundled with a very usable keyboard AND trackpad is great! Looking forward to exploring Lightroom use with the iPad! Funny you mention the edge wear on the case, it will be interesting to see how well the new one sticks together, seeing as the load on the edges will increase due to the added weight.

MixEffect needs to stay on if you use this method with Companion. If you program the trigger using the ATEM module in Companion (not using the MixEffect module), you may disconnect MixEffect. But then you won’t have access to other features of my app.

@@AdamTow So using Companion as a trigger, Companion can talk to MixEffect to started an array of commands, and send these commands directly to the ATEM switcher without having MixEffect open the entire time?

​​⁠no. In order to talk to MixEffect, it needs to be open and running. When I said to use the ATEM module in Companion, you would create the triggers using its feedback variables and send commands to the ATEM directly using the ATEM modules functions. If you used the MixEffect module, you would talk from Companion to MixEffect to the ATEM.

@@4sightfilmsLLC app was designed for BMD ATEM devices, so it would take significant work to make it compatible with other switchers. And I would need an SDK for these other switchers to even begin the process.

Might be a beta thing. See if users have reported this issue on the Shortcuts Reddit. I have been testing my app on iPadOS and haven’t started my testing on an iOS device with the Dynamic Island yet.
