Dear Paul Clem ~ 𝐍𝐎𝐋𝐀 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐦 is coming to Portland for Hall🎃ween! Please let me know where are the biggest public Halloween party spots in Portland? I need something like street fairs and festivals where all are welcome, even if they have a professional video camera. Has St. Helens canceled its festivities because it's gotten too big and dangerous? Greetings from New Orleans ⚜ and thank you.
@@robertjennings7282 st Helens is still going on. I’ll have to think about other stuff!
@@livinginoregon Much appreciated. Thank you!
Portland deserves all the shit it gets. Absolutely a huge toilet.
4:03 I believe this. Not a lot of crime compared to where I used to live (Oakland ca) but folks are not super friendly. (Many exceptions I’m generalizing)
I'm definitely more likely to click on the positive videos, especially if you throw in some hiking! I really enjoyed this video!
This was very helpful, thank you!
The entire east side seems to have disappeared. Amazing. The largest physical part of the city just gone. Did it wash away in the Willamette? I guess we will never know.
Pardon
After spending some time in Eastern Oregon, I couldn't even believe that Portland was in Oregon when I first came here. For me, the "Rules of Oregon" that I knew didn't even apply to this area.
LOL... City decides to cater to criminals, then faces tax-paying, law-abiding population's exodus.
Which neighborhood of Portland has historically had the highest rate of increase in property value ?
Are there any single family homes within a mile of Perl district or Nob Hill?
@@annsgal2025 there are a ton of single family homes in Nob Hill.
ive literally walked the trail youre on
i lived in bethany...and i loved the trails and the houses. great place
I am so glad I left this libtard cesspool in 2021 for Texas.
Only time i go downtown portlad is if im on the max headed to the Airport
Fun Fact: I put a home under contract sight-unseen the day I shot and published this video 😎
Very helpful video, thank you.
Thanks for the feedback
Are the people saying it’s gone down the drain all conservatives? Just curious. Because that would make me more interested in going there lol
@@elusive_cat not necessarily… but the loudest bunch are likely the least affected by some of the major issues (public health/safety)
@@elusive_cat multnomah county where Portland is has gone down the drain the only time they clean out the homeless problem doing drugs etc… is when election year comes around.
I live in Tigard. I love my tri-cities!! I work under 5 miles away in Tualatin. Sherwood has lots of great eateries!! My dogs vet is in Tualatin. You didn't mention Bridgeport!!!
Growing up in Portland I couldn’t wait to get out… and now after living four years in SoCal (LA for two years and OC for two years) my wife and I CANNOT wait to get back. Yes, the homeless/drug issue sucks, but the slow pace of life and absolutely gorgeous Oregon nature makes it more than worth it. And yeah, the food is unreal, so much better than LA and way easier to get across town.
These videos are so crappy.
Portland is amazing if - and only if: A. You're white B. You're rich C. You're extremely progressive
@@branifer source?
@@livinginoregon I've lived here for 50 years.
I've live in the Bay Area for almost 8 years and am so sick of this dry air. Rain actually a reason I'm considering moving to Portland.

Love how the comments are either one of two camps: -I love Portland, its beautiful and the culture and the people! OR -I hate Portland cause the liberals/lefties And funny enough, the latter group is making it sound more appealing than the former. If you're angry ppl will mock you for a trump bumper sticker, you should see how your beloved deep-red states treat property and people with pride flags and/or the groups they represent. You're not the victims you think you are. I can almost guarantee that "lack of acceptance" you're complaining about is because of your own lack of acceptance of the aforementioned and other minority groups. What reason do people have to be nice to you or accept you if you're actively refusing to accept their friends, family, and loved ones? Or supporting policies and people that are actively trying to strip those same people of rights or dehumanize them? You'd likely be okay with forcing immigrants or the LGBTQ+ people from your communities, so how can you be be upset that the people that accept those groups want nothing to do with you? Re-evaluate yourself.
How about the Hollywood district?
@@Salmonskinbandaid nice area to hang out and walk around

Can you talk about resources for researching crime rates in a given area? When I asked my realtor, he told me something along the lines of providing that kind of information could be construed as exerting influence. If I change neighborhoods within the city, I’m going to want to be better informed on that topic EDIT: I follow this channel because I can see myself relocating within the city but haven’t lived here long enough to be familiar with the pros/cons of various areas.
@@pjesf there is some gray area around providing that info, at the very least. Oregonlive.com has some crime stat maps I believe.
Nob Hill *would* be my favorite neighborhood in Portland, if it weren't for the parking- which is a nightmare. Most homes here don't have garages, and many don't even driveways, and the curbs are *always* filled. My more practical favorite upscale neighborhood that wasn't mentioned is Laurelhurst. Centrally located on the eastside, Laurelhurst has charm to spare, with hundred-year-old craftsman-style houses and tree-lined streets that become green tunnels in the summer. The one downside is that the "support" businesses are mostly located on the edges of the neighborhood, so it's fairly car-dependent.
@@user-Brian_Gregory thanks for the feedback! Laurelhurst was mentioned when Irvington was discussed.
Also tons of tent tenants by Laurelhurst park. Place turns into zombie land at night
@@Dee-s4q tis the season
Portland is full of nice-holes. I was taking the streetcar NW and there was an open seat. I ask the woman if she would move her bag. “No, I’m worried about Covid, so no”. She wasn’t wearing a mask, the streetcar was full. Nice-hole? I’m a 65 year-old professional, clean & polite. Liberal nice-holes. She was 65+ and seemed to be wealthy. Seriously full of A-holes.
Where is that trail, it is beautiful. Im currently living on the central coast of California, our water bill is $40-50 at its highest. We don't have grass, but I have a lot of plants to keep watered.
One way to spot a Californian who recently moved here - baseball caps. I've noticed many of my new friends from California have a clever way of signaling there origins to each other. They often wear hats such as Giants or Dodgers caps. Have you noticed this?
Beautiful area.
One of the best!
I am moving to Portland soon, and your video is very informative. It is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
Let us know when you're ready and we'll be here to help - Seth
Oregon's problem is it goes way too liberal catching up the level of California and Washington. However, it hasn't attracted enough Tech or other high salary companies to support the whole society yet. So it's more like you are copying your big brother to show your generosity by sharing your cake, before you even make a big one.... California can be spoiled and they can abuse whatever resources they have, because they are done waves of industrial revolutions from Gold Rush to Wine to Agriculture to Technology to Film Industry and now AI. But Oregon is like lacking a clear idea of its own economy development path. What is the best advantage of Oregon in Industry, except for some soft drinks brands? How come these Tech or Big Name offices haven't outflown to its neighboring state, Oregon with Californian exodus? Instead, they went to Texas, Nevada, Denver, Arizona or even Idaho?! -- Obviously, it's because the business environment in Oregon is not good, or not pro-business. That's something Oregon and its governor should answer for sure.
I own a business company here and planning on relocating to cali or Nevada because I do feel like it’s not business friendly here
Portland is an absolute hell hole, just read the news, don't come here :)
i'm 71, this has been going on my entire life, nothing new!!!
yea lets just encourage more californians to move here and make the PNW even worse.
Please, no more Commiefornians...
No Californians, Oregon sucks. You better stay in commiefornia
Just a correction on property taxes. In California the assessed value is readjusted to the full sale price of the home upon transfer. In Oregon it is limited even after it’s sold regardless of the sales price. So in actuality property taxes can be substantially lower in Oregon, unless you’re buying a recently built house.
Appreciate the contribution
Disclosures to me are important If you're referring to seeing issues the home has. Starting negotiations before knowing there's a roof problem seems like a waste of time. Am I not getting it?
No, that is correct. If there is a major issue such as a roof leak, it would be more common for the seller to provide disclosures upfront(listing agent will likely advise them to do so). For that reason, we don't run into what you are describing often. Providing the disclosures is a contingency of the contract. Once disclosures are provided post mutual acceptance, the buyer has the option to cancel the contract and receive their earnest money back. Also, post inspection, there is typically a negotiation to resolve anything that came up as a result of the inspection that also allows the buyer to cancel and receive their earnest money back.
@@livinginoregon Thanks for the detailed explanation.
I’m moving back to Oregon next year from Tennessee. I’ve been here 2 years. I miss Oregon so much I lived there 15 years.
Portland is a woke dump ! Anyone considering moving to, doing business in Portland or the surrounding areas, should seriously reconsider.
Been downtown Portland over 13 years and it's getting alot better! 90% of the homeless are shipped in from other states.
Like since recently? Good, probably because of coming elections… gotta visit this town from l.a. soon
My sister is moving there from Atlanta. We use to live in the Milwaukee, Oak Grove area when we were kids in the 70s. My wife and I will fly out there to visit next year from Ocala Florida.
Born and raised in PDX. Unfortunately, the city is run by far left radicals, IMO. Park your truck downtown with a Trump bumper sticker and you will find out how unwelcoming these woke inhabitants are. It used to have a more libertarian feel, no longer is that the case. Just look at the last 2 governors elected and you will quickly understand why people like myself fled the state. IMO, it's one of the mist intolerant states in the union. Many of my friends and family left the state for these reasons. If your a far left progressive, you will feel right at home in PDX.
❤🎉❤❤
