David's pun on "trialogos" seems to mistake the etymology of "dialogue" (or "dialogos") to be something about "two-ness", which is understandable since "di-" can mean "two" in some Greek-derived words (e.g. "dilemma",) but the "dia-" in "dialogue" ("dialogos") rather bears the meaning of "through" (and by extension, perhaps "thorough"); "across;" "between." A dialogue is not necessarily a conversation between *two*, as David implies, but rather, a "thorough" discussion which reaches "across" and "between" the interlocutors. So his pun is based on an etymological near-miss. Surprising in a man so learned.

John’s philosophical Silk Road, despite his protestations, does not resolve the Christian/non-Christian and abstraction/propositionalizing issues that John raises. Of course we need to address these issues in love, fellowship and friendship. But that is still the biggest trick or biggest problem we always face - how to do those 3 things without falling into simplistic ecumenism or moral relativism.
