IS THAT THE 2008 PHANTOM REGIMENT COMPETING IN DRUM CORPS INTERNATIONAL WORLD CLASS WITH THEIR 2008 PROGRAM “SPARTACUS” WINNING THEM 1ST PLACE AND THE FOUNDERS TROPHY???????? truly regarded as one of the best DCI shows in its 52 years. Yes the color guard uniforms can get rough sometimes, and in that performance the guy who “slit” her throat did drop her so hard she got a concussion. I really do recommend you go check out DCI as a whole though because it’s all of the greatest performers from 14-22 and they spend the whole summer marching trying to get as perfect as they can. At the end of the summer the top 12 corps compete for the best general effect, visuals, color guard, brass, and percussion, as well as 1st place and the founders trophy, a trophy showing every winning corps from 1972. Truly the closest you can get to perfection in the marching arts.

Either that or a goofy vocal

Fun fact: 8:38 in the closer (the little battery fill) is actually a rehashing of the segment right before the "William Tell Overture" in 2015's opener segment. I know that because I know the accenting pattern of it with marching cymbals, having marched that very segment in 2015. 1,2, crash, four 1, 2, crash, four 1, 2, slide-choke, four and crash 2, 3- 🎶badadum, badadum, badda-dum-dum-dum🎶 (to which we held right cymbal up at vert' in front of our faces and the left one went behind to make us all horsies, giddy-up, hyaaah- we even teeter-tottered our forward march to make ourselves look like rocking horses lol) My last year marching was 2016 with the quadline, and it was an absolute blast. Very, very different dynamics across both seasons. That said, if you have the chance to march cymbals/'plates' with JSU, do it. It's not a punishment- it will build your understanding and make you into a better percussionist with synergy for your peers. _Every_ position in that ensemble matters.

one of the worse parts of this show was setting up and taking down the stages, i was the baritone soloist so you can imagine how hard it was to carry an instrument, a stage, and multiple microphones lmao

the theme of echo was in the music instead of visuals. the first piece was the initial sound, the sound of silence as the space between the initial sound and the echo, and then the last piece is very similar to the first, so that's the echo. This show is amazing, even though the visuals are lacking, i think the music makes up for that.
