This is the place where I dump all the random philosophical, esoteric or arcane nonsense that pops into my head that's too niche or narrow to make a full book out of. I can't, and thus won't, guarantee you'll leave satisfied, but if you're a fan of unorthodox takes on writing, people, society, religion, etc., you've come to the right place.

Why are (Zombie) Apocalypses so Popular
I was going to argue that I don't agree with the "myth of original perfection" because I think what underlines all moral system is a belief that net-positive = good, and net-negative = bad (not in a utilitarian or consequentialist sense, because of the "gang rape Paradox" which is vaguely democratic and therefore cringe and dumb), albeit often obfuscated, but realised that it often being obfuscated proves you right to some extent.
Most moral systems rely on an idealistic hope in the possibility of future paradise. The idea of there having already been such a thing in the past helps to boost the viability of that hopeful future, essentially acting as a proof of concept. But if said proof is made up, then you're piloting a ship without a lighthouse. Just ask every failed religion/ideology how well that works out in the long run.
@jasonwolfe4205 a mythologised history as an origin myth is inevitable as time turns history into legends, and the Heroic undergos apotheosis. the Garden of Eden, the Great Flood, the tower of Babel, and the Final Judgement are effectively the utopic future justified by a utopic past theme, yet Judaism has survived multiple civilisations, and is one of the longest lived religions IIRC. I agree it is folly, but I think the undoing does not necessarily come from how true it is or isn't but on it's ability to reinforce itself, even true history, like colonialism, despite being a net positive for all involved and the bad parts being incredibly rare and an example of negativity bias eventually became undone through Soviet and American propaganda because they wanted to destroy the competition to make room for their own, more covert form of Imperialism and colonialism. the examples given, show that an entirely fictional mythology is often more stable over a greater period as their is no "bad part" to discredit the good, the only possible way to discredit it is through evidence supporting a competing theory. a things ability to reinforce itself almost entirely comes from how much of it is emergent and how much of it is artificial, revolutionary nations rarely last longer than a generation, whereas organic nations often last thousands of years.
I absolutely see your point of disparate perspectives. Your counter point to the reddit post is enlightening. I had never thought about "my one and only" as "my best or only option." Very poignant video as i was watching an interview discussing the idea of the virtual universe. The interviewee had a few "trust me bro-s" that sound nice but are an inherent leap of faith. I have a deep lack of faith in most if not all things. Im gonna go buy one of your books now. Cheers.
I just wanted to add that many of those who left the faith after a while and with the acquisition of knowledge returned to the faith finding new evidence of its truth. so I am not certain that religion is not true in its entirety. but I also believe that the emergence of an unwavering opposition helped many to better understand their faith.
I'm working on a video now addressing this in more depth, as I've had some thoughts on it recently that are in keeping (sort of) with what you're saying.
@@jasonwolfe4205 I will wait with interest, lately I think I often start talking about something that you yourself are thinking about. We have an interesting match
i don't understand the Reddit example. To me it seems like she was saying that he values him not because of looks alone or the pleasure of casual sex, but because there is something deeper in him strong enough for her to want to marry him. Did I understand wrong?
I'm sure that's how she meant it. But as I said to the other person above, in general, men and women perceive sex and marriage very differently. For men, marriage is primarily about the sex. That's why, back when it was taboo to have sex before marriage, people tended to get married young and quick, with courtships lasting a few months or even weeks. For women, marriage is primarily about long-term security. Having a man who's going to protect and provide for her and her children, as throughout most of history this was what they depended on men for. Again, this is not a moral or ideological position, but a biological one. He wasn't offended because she'd said something culturally or morally improper, but because on a biological level he'd felt that she'd rejected him in the most primal way possible by essentially saying "I wouldn't want YOUR genes/kids, but I would want MY kids to have YOUR support".
that reddit example makes no sense to me
If she'd wanted to have sex with him, she wouldn't have needed any commitment from him first. That's how hookups work. You meet, you think they're hot/cute, you go off and do the deed. She told him she didn't think of him that way, which means she values his utility (things he does/provides for her) more than his sex appeal. Effectively, she's told him "I don't want YOU ("your genes"), but I want things FROM you and I'm willing to have sex with you to get them". You see?
@@jasonwolfe4205 to me thats good. someone not valuing you for things you can't change/the hand you were delt but for the thing you actually do and utility is a good measure of moral quality
You're not wrong. But think about if from his perspective. Our (that is, humans) natural prerogative is to pass on our genes, which we do by having sex. So if someone says "I don't want to have sex with you", what they're really saying is "I don't want your kids/genes" which by extension is effectively saying "your genes aren't worth preserving". And since your genes are what make you you, what greater condemnation of a person is there than to reject their attempts at leaving a legacy?
I know you are neither! You are just schizo! And that’s why I’m here 😂
Weren't Eldar not just an uplifted cat-species?
I'm not that deep into 40k lore, so I couldn't say. But wouldn't that make humans just uplifted apes then?
@@jasonwolfe4205 Nope. Technically not even Space Marines are Uplifted Apes. The Custodes may be, if they could procreate, but the Old Ones fiddled with the Eldar till there's very few left from the race they were before in body, mind and soul. Some speculate(d) that Gyrinx were that precursor as Eldar have an affinity for them as pets and Gyrinx 'behave' in Eldar presence.
interesting perspective, but I can't fully agree with all the points
In all fairness, this is an excerpt from a book I wrote ~8-10 years ago. So my perspective on some of the points has changed slightly given new information. The reason I posted it (and why I leave the book as published) is that I still stand by the overall conclusions even if I would change the routes I took to get there were I to start again from scratch today.
@@jasonwolfe4205 I can fully agree with the end. That is why I think that the civilization that will come after this one will have to reconcile our civilized and wild nature
When it comes to this type of topic, i am quite impressed with your take. Excellent work.
And considering I wrote this all just 2 or 3 years after high school, I think it holds up pretty well.
@@jasonwolfe4205 Also this the part about Sheppard and sheep reminds me of a quote ("Will to power for me and slave morality for the"). That is pretty much what i see every time the relationship between the rulers and the ruled is brought up.
I did not expect a continuation to this series so soon, any way great work on the video.
I don't know why. Somehow this series just spoke to me a bit louder than the others.
@@jasonwolfe4205 And i am quite thankful, thank you for your work. And as soon as i have more takes on your video i will be sure to share it with you.
@@jasonwolfe4205 Anyway i am quite happy for these series, great work, thank you for providing us with such a interesting and well worked through series. And as soon as i have time to procces this i will be sure to share my thought on this subject.

As always great work, alto from the 7:05 minute mark the video seems to be just dead air?
Yeah, that was just the end of the video. No idea why it tacked an extra 4-5 minutes on afterwards. In any case, it should be fixed now. (Though the edit might take a few minutes to show up on the front end.)
i think its much better and more helpfull to the overall discussion to say "woke has the same problems religions have" nobody actually thinks its a literal religion, they usually mean that it functions on blind faith, in/outgroup separations and social control. most woke people simply see themselves as "doing the right thing" and the main thrust of the anti woke argument is that their idea of "the right thing" is based in moral superiority, self-hatred and guilt..... much like a religion
the part around 6:50 to say, 7:00, is what we see with the channel HTME, where he is attempting to rebuild from the stone age forward step by step
Okay, I have thought about it and, strangely enough, Fantasy has the same problem Sci-fi has. Sure, a big part of it is fatigue, of the reader and of the writer. But, there is a big part, wait, make that TWO big parts further. As I said down there it's part of the Simpson problem, everything had been done to a certain point, like with the Fall of the Eldar by being extremely long-lived, wide spread and well, in my own words paraphrasing an Archon (or was it an Exarch?) "Your world of millions had an Archimedes, had an daVinci and they shoved your species higher in art, in science in understanding nature. They were unique. But a billion billion worlds housing billions in a population that produce 5 geniusses every 300 years per one planet..." The Oversaturation. And then there is the fatigue of the reader, fantasy started with creatures, some helpful, some malevolent, some sentient, some monsters... Gods and angels and dragons and devils and adies in lakes distributing swords to rightful rulers, getting kidnapped by the fea to the lands of summer and winter... In science-fiction? Living underwater, flying, talking to far-away people, bending nature to mans will... and they did. These two have one thing in common. They are NEAR! You could say fantasy beasts and low-magic realms (I think the term was low-fantasy?) and science (fiction) concentrated on the next-step, solvable problems. Instead we have now Reality-bending through will (there was a better example but I take the Magic: the Gathering), Warhammer40K and Dune, and Multiverses (yes, the infamous Infinity War crap and the amalgam of indistinguishability of magic and science). Just think about Star Trek. In the Original Series they had Warp already, but they had clunky tech, actual buttons to push, but they were military as much as explorers and ambassadors and problems of human gene manipulation. The Next Generation: Touchscreens, pacifism, scarcity elimination through replicators, gods that only want to get a rise out of the straight guy and the problems of a Gestalt-race that resolves problems by 'assimilating' solutions and shiny knicknacks. Then came Deep Space 9 and Voyager, one of the better and one of the worst part of Star Treck, because from here on real-world politics more and more influenced the plot. What I want to say... The relatable parts... No. It, that is SF and Fantasy are not *relateable* anymore. They are not The Dream anymore, they are pure Escapism. Only castles in the sky.
I'd like to inform you that there are people (I've purposefully surrounded myself with technically skilled people) that have the tools and equipment necessary to make bullets, and not just recycle them. The true bottle neck for bullets would be making the casing and bullet, as that requires machining tools and such. I only know of one person on RUclips that I know of that has that capability, I'll have to search him up again. So while I agree that in the early stages of a post apocalypse, the most powerful clans/groups would have the most advanced tech, small groups of rural peoples would also be at similar tech levels, now while very few, my circle of friends (a very rare group mind you) would absolutely push hard for technological development, we would figure out exactly how many hunters we need to sustain as many "scientists" as possible, thus ensuring our somewhat rapid technological growth.
I'm aware of bullet-casting, case recycling and gunpowder manufacture. All of which will help sustain the existing stockpiles, but new replacement parts for the guns themselves (springs, barrels, locks, etc) all require micrometer precision (depending on the gun, obviously) and advanced steel alloys. So I suspect that after 100 years or so, assuming the world hasn't miraculously made a full recovery, most of the world will resemble the modern middle east or eastern Europe (Ukraine) in terms of their tech level: the most abundant/rugged pieces of modern hardware for the elites, and old black-powder weapons or even more privative tools (bows, slings, spears, etc) for the commoners.
@jasonwolfe4205 have you heard of khyber pass? They actually make guns, some of which are cursed or made of recycled parts but they do make guns, again though this is one place that absolutely would not be able to sustain a large military.
3:53 there are people that can make thier own ammo, sure it involves re-using brass casings thus increasing the chances of your weapon exploding but we can also make black powder and go for musket balls for projectiles to send at any foe or animal we wish to kill.
All true. But you'll notice I said "production of modern munitions/firearms". I suppose a better word would have been 'fabrication', but anyway, the point is we'd still be stuck reusing, recycling and/or refurbishing old tech until we either found or rebuilt the means to make more.
@@jasonwolfe4205 putting it this is is alot more clear, I suppose we really would be stuck with muskets then
Anything to add to the box? Perhaps an enlightened understanding about our place in the universe. You know, like, hate the dumb man because he's dumb, don't hate the black man because he's black, except when the black man is also a dumb man. Perhaps a strive for all people to make it better for all people... along 'one creed, one nation, one humanity' or something. A better capitalist, but not too much, society. Perhaps explaining how to overcome the 'burn fuel' stage of development straight into electricity by giving the tech behind that. Same with green houses, glass... Mathematics? Perhaps a physical copy of wikipedia? An all-round 'X-grade' curriculum, so they learn the ways of the god 'scientia'. We just delete history, religion and politics from that, let them restart new.
Robert A. Heinlein's "The Number of the Beast" introduced his "The World as Myth" concept. He later used the idea to connect many of his novels. I like where this idea of yours is going. Feels kind of like a cosmic equivalent to "Dont meet your heroes."
Let me know if you think the music is too loud or distracting. I'm in the experimentation phase and any respectful feedback, be it positive or negative, is always welcome.
a bit loud but listenable
Same, just a little but too loud but I could hear it almost fine
Hate it like ur voice
It’s a little loud, but also I think the more pressing issue, is the particular track is rather intense for what I would consider creative contemplation.
Interesting take, i don't have much to add you covered most things revolve around a possible post apocalyptic world and how that would effect the use, maintenance and use of any remaining technology. And i agree, most likely the most maintained technology would probably that which is necessary for base survival. Everything more complex and or expensive to maintain, namely that which requires a fully functioning planetary economy would probably be hoarded away or flat out lost first. So yeah as you seed, mostly tech that is necessary for survival ( food production, electricity, medicine, simple communication, transportation and weapons ) would be preserved and maintained the most. And if our theoretical post industrial survivors are relay luck they will be able to maintain simple computers, but that is a big if. While more advanced luxury tech, ( high end computers, televisions, routers ) and such would be abandoned, hoarded by the powerful ( or tech cults ) or flat out scavenged to maintain more necessary tech. This all depend on what kind of "apocalypse" we are referring to. I don't know where i reed this, but i remember a story where someone tired to go and build a toaster fully on his own, long story short he managed to get 90% there, but he was not able to find a way to replicate the plastic housing.
I recently had a conversation with chatgdp about this and we agreed that in the scenario you mentioned it would take us about 200-2000 years to be in a similar place technologically. Ps: This nicest version assumes that we somehow managed to establish a stable space colony and there are a few enclaves left in the world concentrated around places like nuclear power plants or laboratories.

Stone can be made to sand, books can burn, and sand can be made to chipsets... thus lies the problem. Speak in terms of longevity. What is the best codex? Satellite is okay for beyond the life span of the earth and even solar system, but would it be discernable to other creatures... periodicity mechanized proton lib Lang model with binary math state could help. That can be nothing also... what is the best solution to life knowing it was here some sentient bit.... a highly encoded compressed quantified electro state that utilizes cosmos as a travel zone. So you spread out cellular or crystallized single organisms to linear travel and seed the cosmos. It can decompile and communicate in a short time, and out xom waves in a pattern to advance the systems to create an integrated network, because the life form can do all things with matter in a spacial setting.. this would be the most efficient way to make universal travel, is making decompile system programmed to interconnect and re align with a core system in the cosmos, thus travel between worlds simultaneously, and the adaptive freq, allows some variants so you get or would get mostly similar living words designed by the life program I this shape, a true time capsule, where the life form is the living word of the gods, ancients etc... life without end or beginning in a sense.
The Georgia guide stones?
Sort of a "New Age" fusion of Stonehenge and the 10 Commandments tablets. They were supposed to be an "enlightened" guide for future civilizations. But most of what was written was a lot of moralistic jargon, with very little practical substance to go along with it. Here's an article giving the full text and history of the things if you're interested: www.georgiaencyclopedia.org/articles/history-archaeology/georgia-guidestones/ And here's their "10 Laws" if you want just a brief idea: 1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature. 2. Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity. 3. Unite humanity with a living new language. 4. Rule Passion - Faith - Tradition - and all things with tempered reason. 5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts. 6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court. 7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials. 8. Balance personal rights with social duties. 9. Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite. 10. Be not a cancer on the earth - Leave room for nature - Leave room for nature.
I also quite like your 10-commandments. In any case great work ass always, listening to your concepts - ideas is always quite interesting. As for any additionally messages - information i can't think of anything to add as of this moment.
To a other point i completely agree with adding in information that pretend to "diplomacy by other means", in any case those who put in the work to translate seed tablets are probably going to need such information, it is better for them to have such information and not need it then for them to need it and not have it, and when it comes to "diplomacy by other means", they are probably going to need it sooner or later.
One thing that came to mind regarding the message - information on the tablets, perhaps to prevent less scrupulous individuals ( less curios and patient individuals ) from access to much information at the same time you could make it so there are stages to your messages - information on the tablets. Namely make each tablet more difficult to decipher then the last, making it so each level of information requires a distinct level of prior knowledge - expertise to solve, that way each new level of information will require use of knowledge from the previous level in order to solve, and so on and so fourth. This way you can mostly ensure that only those truly curious and diligent will be able and wiling to access such knowledge.
I remember a gundam series called something like "08th MS Team" or similar. It was basically a Vietnam war show with a hand full of mass production mecha as well as an all-terain armored transport with ground sonar to listen for stomps from stompy robots, like a native listens for horses on the prairie in an old western movie. I certainly enjoy the idea of a mech fire-team running around listening to Hendrix and Creedance Clearwater Revival. Perhaps a small crew aboard a single mech? A pilot, comms/commander, crew chief/ mechanic, maybe even some low ranked private who's duties vary from coffee to getting that damn branch out of the ankle joint. It all sounds like a fun setting.
The voyageur probe’s human anatomy diagram is imperfect. Not a problem for future humans but it would be an issue if aliens happen upon it
In what way is it imperfect?
You might not want titanium as your vault - it’s strong and light, not what you’re looking for. Tungsten might be a tougher choice, and won’t melt below temperatures it takes civilization to produce. As for durable media - don’t ignore vellum. It lasts surprisingly well on the centuries timescale. Millennia - micro engraving on a “glass” disk could get you a long way. Glass is a shorthand for a variety of transparent, hard, media. Synthetic sapphire might be an option. I’d avoid going too micro on the engraving, something that can be seen with low magnification or really good eyesight.
Robert A. Heinlein's "Assignment in Eternity" is a collection of four short stories. My favorite of those is "Lost Legacy." It plays with super men in the realm of potential. It goes a different route but similar direction. Great video again. o7
I just realized I forgot to include a rather important image. But rather than pull down the video, screw with my analytics and generally make more of an ass of myself than I already have, here's a link to what I'm referring to by "this" at the very beginning. www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FBook-Ultimate-Guide-Rebuilding-Civilization-ebook%2Fdp%2FB0CK8RF258&psig=AOvVaw06aza7ibKo1sqrFWSqPh4l&ust=1735332036047000&source=images&cd=vfe&opi=89978449&ved=0CBQQjRxqFwoTCNDE4-ClxooDFQAAAAAdAAAAABAE
That book is a gift I keep getting for friends.
@@Stahlengel13 Admittedly, it's slightly more showy than informative (at least compared to the other ones) but it's still cool, and now occupies a place of honor on my shelf.
Don't forget to include encoded memory crystals (with instructions on how to read them). Likewise make use of (different sized) micro engraving. Between those you can fit most current human knowledge and history (including the DNA codes, with viable variations, of humans and other creatures) in something backpack portable. Take that Noah's ark.
I’m not sure it would be necessary too alien for us to recognize as human or anything. Just too alien and advance for anyone but a genius given a lot of material to work with to ever truly get inside the head of, and that’s assuming they are passive to these efforts. But even assuming their brains are built/adapt to work on those time scales, and their memories are enough for it, I imagine one based on/which was once human would still act human enough that they could exist in human civilization. At least until they want something done and little could stand in their way, as any problem they are unable to bypass is just circumvented, if not turned to their side. Like “yah, I could not defeat your entire army, so I convinced them I would be a better leader than you. I’ll give you one chance to join them or leave.”
If you don’t mind me asking, any particular reason for the Dracula roast, or nothing in particular? And was he actually a vampire or just a man?
It’s not a roast, just a strange observation I had. You see, the word Caligula means‘little shoe/boot’, so I just applied that same rule to Dracula. Also, the one in the story is a man, not the vampire.
If it isn’t a soldier/warrior specifically, wouldn’t it need stuff beyond wilderness survival and combat? Such as a way to travel great distances, interface with technology, create things simple or complex quickly, maybe alter their form (if not appearance), universal mirror neurons (if not out right mind reading and precog), etc? Or is that one of the things that we’re just left for a future video?
This is one of those scripts that got a bit overcooked. I'd originally drafted it talking about super-soldiers specifically, but then I decided to broaden it but then didn't quite go far enough to escape the first draft's gravitational well. So now it's mostly a guide to make "better men" in the classical Demigod sense. I've since thought about expanding the idea to "the ultimate lifeform", but that title's already pretty thoroughly taken by the Outlanders, and I'm nowhere near as well versed in biochemistry as I'd need to be to make up the difference. So for now it's in the "I don't know what I'm talking about, so I'm going to keep silent" category.
@ makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.
Are you saying those are modern theories? Because all of those origins sounded rather scientific and materialist in nature.
The novel I'd quoted this from takes place thousands of years in the future, and it's also the original backstory I'd come up with. (That he was a human abducted and steadily reworked at the molecular level by bored aliens over centuries as their gladiatorial pit fighter.) So by calling them "ancient" theories, it's simultaneously a lore and a meta-reference.
@ interesting. I like that, literally works on multiple different levels.
Indeed. Any future viewers, please look up BRIDGE 2.0 the zealots are so bureaucratic they systematized their retreat. They will continue their actions but remove the proud titles. They aim to weave the doctrine into the fundamental required actions of each company. They mean to monopolize all commerce and remove choice. I am very disillusioned with Campbell's Soup.
I wasn't even aware of that. Thanks for keeping us all informed.
This lines up with the relatively more common individualistic nature of the masculine and the relatively more common collectivistic nature of the feminine. Reiterating, no judgement of one relative to the other. Just noticing correlation, certainly not causation.
You're very astute.
Neat song
Considering I both wrote and composed it in less than 2 hours, I'm pretty happy and impressed with it and myself. :)
What did you use for the audio? I don't imagine you have a one man band setup/recording studio.
It's called Suno AI. You type in the lyrics and tell it the genre of music you want and it does the rest. Any more advanced features are paywalled of course, but overall I can't say I'm disappointed.
Thanks for the info, may look onto that for my own purposes
I wasn't planning to upload anything today. But then, as I was listening to the Irish Rovers' rendition of Good King Wenceslas, a bolt of inspiration came over me. Now here we are. And you know what, for something I literally cranked out in under an hour (and for my first ever attempt at musical composition) I'd say it turned out rather well. In any case, Happy Holidays all. May peace ever be upon you.
When it comes to your psychology oriented videos this one i found to be quite useful and insightful. As well as someone who has difficulty when designing speculative creatures i find this type of videos quite useful. Thank you for providing with such a quality video.
Always glad when I can be of service.
Great work, i quite like this more esoteric videos.
I am probably a little late with this comment: you know how they say that the customer does not know what they want until they get it, well i did not know i wanted to listen to complex esoteric musings about life the universe and everything until i watched the first video in this series. Excellent work and yes i pretty much would like to here more.
I have one more script already written that I've been sitting on for several months now. There's more that I could go into, but I was just waiting for the series to pick up a bit more interest before I sink more time and effort into it. (I'm really excited to get to talk about the conjoining of the many-worlds' magic systems though.)
Magnificently interesting. I will start reading. o7
The first two chapters are up here on RUclips if you want a preview.
@jasonwolfe4205 thank you.
Splendid
