A channel dedicated to railfans! I've been privileged to enjoy some great railfan spots around the USA, and I've been gradually collecting video footage of all my adventures. I will try to keep adding fresh material as I have time. Also, new in 2017, new content added for boatnerds as well. You'll also notice some astronomy posts from time to time. Sorry, I couldn't help it. I'm not just a railfan, but a boatnerd, and learning to be an astronomy nerd as well.

Railfanning the LS&I: From Mine to Shore in Michigan's Upper Peninsula
From the interior iron mines of Michigan's Upper Peninsula to the shores of Lake Superior, is the drama of the Lake Superior & Ishpeming Railroad. We railfan some popular spots along the way as the raw ore makes it's trip from mine to shore on the ancient, "living museum," an original railroad that has survived to this day transporting the raw materials that shape our lives. In the zone of totality! We were fortunate to see this right from our driveway. It was cloudy in the morning, then the clouds parted just before, revealing this beautiful scene. An hour later, heavy rains came in.

Lehigh Valley Coal Co 126 on the Midland Railway

Now for some steam action... Back in 2012 the Midland Railway Historical Association hosted the Lehigh Valley Coal Co #126 for their open house. The little engine is from the "have engine will travel" guys who transport their little steamers around the country on a flatbed semi. We follow it down the former ATSF line from Baldwin City to Norwood, KS, just north of Ottawa and back.
