  • For all you boatnerds out there! Two Harbors, Minnesota at the close of the shipping season. It's a marine traffic jam as ships line up for their last loads of taconite iron ore in arctic-like conditions.

    Really fantastic video Samrailventures! Enjoyed the sub-zero, arctic footage and the efforts taken to get it! Great head on shot of the Roger Blough making that careful turn....

      Yes, it was sub-zero. I think the temp was in the minus twenties f., with about a 30-40mph wind.

      Thanks Brian! This shoot was during the coldest conditions I've worked in. I've been in colder temps before, but the strong wind, and being right near the lakeshore with the frozen fog blasting through my fingers was a trip. Could only work the camera controls for about a minute, then it was back into my pockets to warm up. The LCD viewfinder froze up after a while. And our friend Mel was with me during this adventure.

    Artic like... I think it is Artic conditions..... yes no ice... but North Dakota cold (lived there, done that).
