if i get some upgraded ear tips for them, the Loop quiet 2 earplugs I already have could reduce incoming noise by about 27db (SNR). I'm absolutely going to wear them every time I go riding. I've already learned my hearing loss lesson from occasional tinnitus spikes.
Dont underestimate wind noises. I wear alpine ear plugs and love it. it got uncomfortable after like 200km or a but more but rhen it got hardcore with headache and a tinitus was a thing. But then i starrer using the plugs and i love it. You still hear the engine and everything else good but especially the high noises are dampened. Spend those 10 or 15€ and buy good quality plugs
I have cauliflower ear making it so i cant wear ear plugs and ive hunted my whole life without ear protection my ears are destroyed and i gave up caring along time ago. I have the akrapovic full race exhaust and ive had my ears bleed at high speed.
sound engineer. Oh that explains why the intro sounds so good! Respect from a fellow audio engineer. ;)
Hahaha yeah I guess that's why. Used to do a lot of sound design :) Unfortunately my iZotope RX license expired not long ago otherwise I would also clean my voice of pops and clicks :D
Lg aus Graz hab die Black Edition 2023 vielleicht crusen wir mal zusammen is sind ja fast Nachbarn
Bin eigentlich ganz oft in Graz :) sehr schöne stadt! Hoffentlich sehen wir uns auf der straße diese saison!
Wind noise at speed is a massive component of the db level while riding. I use Howard Leight laser lite ear plugs on every single ride. Wind noise disappears and you can still hear the engine speaking to to you. Look after your hearing folks!
What camera / sound set up your using ?
never had this problem but i always kept my stock exhausts no wonder your ears are ringing when you have grenades exploding with each acceleration
you DO have that problem, mate, even with stock exahust, you will have this problem sooner oe later, so please protect your self with motorcycle earplugs, plus as the video said, its not all about hearing loss, but also riding comfort, trust me, you will feel the difference
@@LOLMEN-vh6lj 30 years of motorcycling and not one single problem.
Consider yourself lucky :)
i just got the same exact bike just black :D
Nuda
once i had my ears cleaned i relized even my 250cc is kinda very laud
I was between this and Hornet 750, but my heart was acking for the 4cylinder smoothness and sound/feel. Mine is being delivered following Tuesday, wish I was in Slovenia to ride with you, here in Czechia everyone drives a scooter :(
I bought earplugs way back for concerts and raves, before I even got into riding. And so far I only rode twice without any. I always have plugs on me, handy all of the reusable ones come with cases, so I always have em on my keys. Protect your hearing, no matter the noise source!
What are these reusable ear plugs ? Could you provide a link or item name? Would like to have some on my keys too.
Common sense tells you to use hearing protection, as well as a helmet, etc.
you would be surprised how many people i ran into riding aftermarket exhausts without db killers and no earplugs
Does replace loud exhaust back to stock will decrease chance to damage the ears?
Yes, anything to reduce the db level will help. Wind noise at high speeds is also very harmful.
A bit yeah but its still not a healthy noise level for your ears if you ride regularly, mostly you have to worry about the wind
For headphones, please use one with Active Noise Cancellation. The quieter your environment, the less loud you'll turn on the headphones. It really helped me to reduce my tinnitus sometimes.
I use the same earplugs I use for shooting for my motorcycle. SureFire EP10. Thats the shit.
Hoi. Meine Cb 650 R, 2021/Km 56’000, ist nicht zu laut 😊. Gruss Thailand 1959. Gutes Video ! Danke .
To people straight piping their bikes and then saying it's so loud they have to wear earplugs - good for you for protecting your ears! But f*ck you for destroying ears of people around you..
great video, lots of details. looking to buy one of these tomorrow as my first bike, thanks for making me more confirdent in my choice <3
I wish someone warned me earlier. Got my first bike in October and heard first ringing at the end of December. I didnt even drive it that much...plus its a Burgman which can go 110kmh on highway (where I drove it only 4 times). I have some mt atom 2 flip up helmet (150$) and whats bothering me the most is the wind sound. Not sure even how can I hear the wind when inside I dont feel it..weird stuff (helmet is closed, all vents closed as well). Im debating now should I pay top dollar for a high quality helmet (im not sure how much should I give here because in the country I am they are all come with the eu certificate that they will protect the head if a crash occurs) or stick to the one I have and get some good quality ear plugs (I already have the loop quiet ones but I tried them and still hear the wind and then the buzzing goes stronger (on highway speeds)) Do you think full face helmet is better at reducing the wind sound? I was even reading that people were buying some kind of chin protectors as addition to the helmet, not sure if i should go with that route as well
Great piece of advice and video (I LOVED those roads and landscapes), I already have some damage from playing in rock bands back in the day without any ear protection and it's not fun 😕 PS: Is that an Asturian Victory Cross keyring? 😊
Sorry to hear about your damage man I know its a hassle :/ And yes its an Asturian Victory Cross keyring :) Absolutely love Asturias!
@@MotoMacek My family is from there, so many epic rides and landscapes all over the place! ^_^
@ That's amazing :) I can't wait to visit it again!
@@suzukibandit400V That's amazing :) Can't wait to visit again!
If your exhaust is so loud and you rev it so much that it damages your hearing, you're just asking for it.
The main source of hearing damage while riding are wind and duration. Even on a quiet bike you'll eventually damage your ears if you don't use protection.
Nice explained video man! I have lost this hearing cell before 30 years ago (96% per ear) and now with hearing aid I can hear the wind after 120km/h and in 1 hour of riding If I stop I still hear the wind. Now I really think for not changing the original exhaust and leave it like this.
Nice production quality on this one man! I really noticed the effort going in to it :)
Thank you! :)
Good advice. I used the cylindrical shaped non tapered foam ear plugs for years and they seemed ok, although they sometimes would back out as you said. They loose their springiness after a few days or less, so they must be changed often, but they are cheap. Now I use custom made silicone ear plugs, and that's the best imo. Clean them regularly with some soap and water and you're good to go. They are more expensive, about $100 or slightly more from an audiologist and should be renewed about every 10 years if you ride a lot. Just make sure you don't lose them.
Yeah the foam ones could work but I just never liked them because they felt funny in my ears and kept falling out, they also muffled my hearing too much. Custom is the way to go yeah, glad you got a pair. Thinking of getting them myself :)
Before I went to custom made earplugs and before I settled on the foam ones I mentioned (Flents Protechs and North DeciDamp2) all the others I tried were falling out. Seems like everyone's ear canals are different, in fact my left and right are different, not a mirror image. I never knew that until I had the custom silicone ones made.
Why not the Z900?
It was a bit too powerful for me as a beginner and also honestly I dont like the way it looks
Great video, good choice in doing it in English. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Got this bike in the UK and going on a trip today! Riding a motorcycle is such an awesome feeling
No such thing as starting too early in the season (aside from when its snowing/icy lol) :) I ride year round in the UK and just avoid days where its absolutely abhorrent. Starting too early in the season, at least in my personal experience, gave me a huge boost in road safety and positioning so ended up as a benefit despite the fact it was less than ideal at times lol.
When I passed my practical road exam my instructor told me, get a bike, drive where you gonna drive…or ride a lot and take it easy to get used to the bike. I’ve been riding a 23’ tracer 7 a week after I got my license. Good gear (warm) goes a long way, and I’m sure, what you said, my experience I gain now where you have to be more cautious will help me overal becoming a better rider during the season
You okay with sharing how much fuel you used? i'm curious. i watched some of your videos just to have the sound of the cb650r in the background. it just sounds so nice.
Yeah the average fuel consumption is around 5L/100km for me. 4.2L with slower moderate riding and almost 6L when I really push the bike. Thank you, yes the bike sounds very nice even with stock exhaust :)
@ That's quite reasonable for a daily ride with such fun factor, I guess. Cool, thanks for sharing! Stay safe on the road!
I can feel you about being overly exposed with bad gear. Try riding a bike in a wedding suit for an event. I felt naked.
hahah but damn that's badass though, respect!
Nice video! :) I actually consider covering the brake lever most of the time to be a bad habit. You don't have a full grip, it's uncomfortable to apply throttle, and your body's natural first reaction to danger might be to squeeze the lever unnecessarily hard. I remember my instructor had me practice the motion of releasing the throttle and applying the brakes A LOT.
Yeah well said! This is exactly how it feels.. its weird to keep it on the level most of the time. The throttle precision is worse like this
Keeping the engine on high rpm the way you raid everything is going to vibrate. Keep the rev low when you are not racing.
Gorgeous bike- keeping my eye out on getting one here in Canada. Also love the vibe of your video and tips! RideSafe!
Awesome! Thank you!

Great video ☺ Do you plan on modding your bike in any way in the future, or are you keeping it stock for maybe warranty 😗
Thank you! I plan on buying another stronger bike in 2026 but I will definitely keep the CB650R as a second bike for short fun rides. After the warranty expires yes I will most likely modify it also with tailtidy, exhaust and some bar-end mirrors so it will looks much sharper :)
very nice content. thanks
Good content! I just got my licence in October so i take every advice to heart since i'm a bloody beginner. My brand new cb650r is currently sitting in the garage, waiting for me to get on it when the season starts. Ride safe!
Thank you! You will have so much fun with the CB650R. Wish you all the best :)
Got mine in November. Been riding since. Just want to stay smooth. And I’m sure if I’m doing good in winter, I’ll be fine during the summer.
Thanku
Hello :) Super nice video, thank you for being so attentive to deliver such quality ! You seem to have improved a lot your rev matching on downshifting, but I wonder why you take "this much time" when you shift gears up? Your moves look really decomposed, as a newly rider would do; is there a reason, or is it me ? X)
Guess I just need more practice haha
You're one of the most disciplined riders I've seen. For a beginner, you're pretty good!
I’ve watched several of your other POV videos and liked those, but I really enjoyed this video and your commentary about your ownership experience. I’m very interested in this bike and I’m ready to upgrade from my current 2018 CB500F. Also very envious of the roads and beautiful scenery you have. Thanks for the video.
Man, lovely roads and gorgeous countryside. Enjoy the bike! I have the previous style version, a 2018 CB650F. Had it from new and still lovin' it. Never had a problem with it. Runs flawlessly. I use a K&N air filter, iridium spark plugs, and I installed a Booster Plug to enrich the mixture slightly. Plus, I replaced the throttle with a G2 Ergonomics Quick Turn Throttle for a bit crisper response 🙂
