Raw Garden Update (No Pun Intended)
A quick tour of the garden to see how much growth happens in two weeks as well as what failed. We never get too sad over the failures because we learn lessons from them that last a lifetime!

Garden Update and The Wonders of Weeds!
Просмотров 818 месяцев назад
The garden got away from us at the end of last year and now we are playing catchup. The main thing we did not get to, when putting the garden to sleep in the fall, was putting down another layer of wood chips. As a result we had to deal with some weeds in order to plant. Some of the weeds, however are edible, like Lambs Quarters! In this video, join us as I weed the garden while sharing some sp...

I ask a couple of friends this question: "What do you think woman are enslaved to today?" Check out the video to see what th...

Omg that is the cutest and the little noises they make.......awwwww I want one.
@@lisavernon6131 haha! I say the same thing!
I just made my first cayenne pepper and turmeric tincture (combined). Do I need to strain it or can I just use it as it is?
@@K.I.M.7777 we strain ours and put it in little jars. You don’t want the peppers to get exposed to air and possibly form bacteria. Strain and toss the peppers & tumeric.
Hi, did you just put the cayenne peppers and turmeric in the same jar to steep together?
Dogs are dumber than boxes of rocks in some situations. I work at a pet supply store and have NEVER had to sell de-skunk shampoo to a cat owner.
@@newrepublic7539 🤣🤣 that’s funny!!
you: go home skunk: ok...
@@zodiaccowrat9475 I had to try!
Fido F'd around and found out but like some mutts he doesn't have enough brain cells to leave a walking pepper/mace/teargas dispenser alone. So Fido won't be welcome in the house for a few days 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@JacobusCoetzee-qz2pl he’s a neighbors dog that roams freely!
I was hoping you were helping the dog not ro get sprayed... stupid video.
For arthritis in my ankle, I try to take one to three droppers full a day for prevention but if I let it go and my ankle gets bad and swells up and becomes non-weight-bearing, I will take three to six droppers full twice a day. Now I do like spicy food but it can be a little unpleasant sometimes anyway, so this is what I do: -Put droppers full in an empty glass -Add an oz or two of water so it is literally no more than shot size -Get a second glass of water (or milk or OJ) on standby as a chaser -SLAM the tincture! -Rinse immediately with your chaser! Another thing I’ll do to improve the experience is try to take the tincture with a meal or a salty snack that my mind would associate as just a fun spicy food like chips, a piece of cheese, Mexican food, Thai food etc. This stuff will change your life!
Probably shouldn't keep such an aggressive dog on the loose like that
Lol
I knew the skunk sprayed when I saw the dog shaking it's head 😅
@@spiritarca1906 I didn’t realize they could spray at that age. Thankfully the smell didn’t permeate my car!
Could you possibly use 80 proof? It's hard to get 100% proof in Australia
@@DanielleSalathiel sorry I took so long to reply!! Yes you can!
I am interested in this. Can you lecture me on this?
@@davidsamuel6984 what would you like to know?
I have made my plantain infused oil and added lavender, comfrey, and yarrow. It’s fun to be able to make our own stuff
Fabulous! It is fun. What do you use the oil for?
How about for gum disease?
For my thyroid? How much, how often?
Do u taste the vodka after it's sat for the specific number of weeks? I am asking because my husband is a recovering alcoholic.
Mine is also 44 years he says he is fine taking a few drops of a tincture .. but talk with him see how he feels
All bark no bite
Love the norwex products.
You have a good eye! I’ve been using Norwex for many years and am a consultant ❤
Does the tincture process remove the oxylates? I love taking cayenne but quit a few years ago because of kidney stones. I was just taking the powder. Thanks
@@pilot7775 I honestly don’t know the answer to that. I’m sorry. I will ask my husband.

Love the fall crops. FaddysPlace
@@FaddysPlace thank you. The whole garden got away from us when we went on vacation so we had to take up many crops. So…here comes fall!!
You saved the dog sense of smell for sure.
This was my first time making the salve. I put it in a tiny Crock-Pot on low and I think it might have still gotten too hot, because the leaves are a bit crunchy. Can I still use that oil, or do you think the heat destroyed the good properties? I thought about straining it and reusing the oil with fresh plantain. What do you think
@@marleenkerri2408 I would use the oil and test it. You can always remelt once you add the beeswax if you find it’s not potent. My leaves are a little crunchy when it done too. Make sure when you strain it you don’t get any water in it. Did you put it directly in the crockpot or in a jar in the crockpot?
@@HeartandHomesteadwithDawn I put it directly in the crock-pot. It was a tiny one
@@marleenkerri2408 try it out on bites or rashes and you’ll know if it’s not strong enough.
what a karen
Have you done this tincture using apple cider vinegar with the mother? I heard it's ok to do but doesn't last as long. Would it be made the same way? I can't seem to find a tutorial on it.
@@gilbertcammarn874 hello! We have not used apple cider vinegar to tincture peppers as we do not believe it would be effective enough to draw out the medicinal properties. We do love apple cider vinegar with the mother for many other things though!
@@HeartandHomesteadwithDawn thank you. I'll be picking up vodka then to make this tincture. Thanks
@@gilbertcammarn874 let me know how it turns out! I’m drinking some in my morning coffee right now ♥️
@@HeartandHomesteadwithDawn nice on in coffee. I drink a half tsp of the powder daily. Maybe I can put it in my cold brew . Hmm 🧐
@@gilbertcammarn874 that’s great!! If you can handle that’s so healthy! My husband can do that but not Me 😔 I don’t tolerate the heat of that well.
Wait until it spray you 😂
Thank you so much. One question is that I don't have fresh Cayenne peppers, can the same be done with dry Cayenne? I have some 35K and 90K HU.
@@rgrea2 yes! However since dry peppers are more concentrated, you will only fill the jar 1/2 way with peppers then fill the jar with the alcohol; 80 proof or higher, preferably 100.
@@HeartandHomesteadwithDawnWhen you say dry peppers do you mean powder
@@captainadams7569 no I mean dry peppers. Were you asking about powder?
@@HeartandHomesteadwithDawn Yes I was talking about cayenne pepper powder
@@captainadams7569 gotcha. I have asked my husband that in the past and he said no however, he is going to do some research on that. If it’s possible the ratios would be different.

Plantain IS a gift from GOD! ❤ instant subscribe
@@lisawesome7588 thank you!! I agree. He has given plants and herbs for food and medicine. 🙌🏻 Thank you for subscribing ♥️
I agree, too! All plants are miraculous. We are a homeschool family and one of our science projects is to learn about a new “weed” every week, make a tincture or infused oil, or whatever would be useful for that particular plant, and then my daughter types up a page for the description, medicinal values, and a brief description of what we made with it. Goldenrod is our latest amazing plant and we have made a tincture as well as infused oil and have been giving it to one of our horses that has heaves (asthma in horses).
@@myaccount2825 that’s absolutely perfect in every way! There are plant identification games you can get to go along with curriculum. Who says learning isn’t fun? We homeschool our 3 children through their 1st yr of college ♥️ You will never regret this time. Blessings!
Thks. very much for your recipe, but I have a slow cooker & it only has low & high, should I put it on low? because it don't has warm, & for how long?
