my thinking is that Vanessa isn't an Afton but that glitchtrap chose her because of all the coincidental similarities between her and the Afton kids (specifically Elizabeth)

oh god ok, the movie Vanessa and the SB Vanessa are 2 entirely different people, we have to understand at this point the movie is going for its own continuity, it's not trying to refill or remake anything

ok here's my thing, Vanessa started out as a game dev working on HW and we know how that went, then we get to security breach where she's the security guard and we know how that went (for the most part), so I think that even if there was the very very small chance that the Afton legacy continued down which I highly doubt since William himself literally made sure his legacy would die, even IF she was somehow a descendant of Afton I don't think either of them would know so in any circumstances the big hole in this entire theory is that Afton just doesn't have any living children who could then go on to continue his bloodline, through his own negligence he ensured his bloodline would die

Honestly, I agree with you. I don't think that Vannesa was scott's original intent and personally is probably not who she is. I just think that glitchtrap changed her family history to LOOK like she was a afton.

If Vanessa is Afton during that 30-year time gap Mike tries to get a normal life. Or Mike may have accidentally had a one-night stand. Or William got married multiple times and we don't know.

Maybe she's an Afton, but not a daughter. Her father could be a younger brother of William who ended up taking after him personality wise except you know, he's not a serial killer

Is it possible that Vanessa is a fake human; a robot? The Silver Eyes trilogy makes it clear that robots can be made to represent/mimic different life phases... What if Vanessa is not a real human and that is why, ultimately Glitchtrap could successfully posses her then attempts to posses real, organic humans via the AR/VR chip (as seen in ruin) have failed? Consider this; the mad scientist creates things, but upon his death that does not de-activate his creations. Everything already made continues to exist, and in fact might even "escape" now that they are not be monitored. So what if Vanessa is the abandoned adult Elizabeth? It would easily explain why Fazbear would start monitoring her (the CDs) vs. any other employee and even send her to therapy sessions; it would be a way to try to assess her disposition after she's been running autonomously for so long.

I think it is much more likely that Vanessa A. and Bill being Vanessa's father are effects of Glitchtrap's influence on her psyche. Vanessa is a security guard. She's not a hacker or engineer. She can't grant herself a job at Fazbear Entertainment. We know Glitchtrap is changing her psyche and memories. We already have in game reasons for these pieces of evidence. We don't need to invent another one. Glitchtrap is trying to turn her into Elizabeth Afton 3.0.

Is it possible that Vanessa is Mike's daughter? I'm not sure how that timeline goes, but it would be interesting to think that The Immortal & Restless was maybe Mike as Vlad? Just genuinely curious.

Haven't played the games yet, but it's more likely that she's Mike's daughter. Whether she has siblings such as an older brother name Micah, Mark, or Michelangelo is yet to be determined.

Even if I don’t agree with this interpretation, I *personally* believe that Vanessa has some sort of blood connection to the Aftons. I’ll be honest, the timeline according to the books is just a mess and I’m not sure if I could take any text dialogue to be literal fact or a red herring. When it comes to timeline placements, I’ll take a grain of salt and find out which fits well with the narrative. With The Week Before, I feel like Ralph is paralyzed and is having a hard time remembering things since he’s having trauma during his nightshift, so the book is mainly Ralph’s pov is what we’re seeing through him. But we can’t take everything he says literal, more of that he’s going through a mental trauma on dealing with the animatronics- so I take things about his pov with some powder of sugar for the lore. We might not agree with each others’ opinions, but I believe Vanessa fits well as Mike’s daughter instead of William. From a narrative perspective, Mike could’ve left Vanessa to her mom due to Mike being scooped and doesn’t want to traumatize her daughter as a zombie, or (wild card) Mike ends up having a family and had to send Vanessa away during the events of FFPS to keep her safe from William. And Bill is just Vanessa’s step-dad that took Vanessa away during custody with both of her parents now gone. And if you’re not convinced, I kinda take “What We Found” with a grain of salt to be a parallel to this version of Vanessa’s backstory, with Springtrap burning Hudson resembling the Witch story from Candy Cadet in HW2. Even if people want to make the argument that William is more likely Vanessa’s *dad* due to the movie, I want to bring up the Robotnik family for example. In the games, Eggman looks up to his grandfather, Gerald Robotnik, and admires him for the great things Gerald has accomplished. Gerald inspired Eggman to become a scientist, which probably led Eggman to be a villainous mad scientist. With FNAF, Vanessa would end up falling victim to Glitchtrap, and this leads Glitchtrap to consume Vanessa’s tragic life and create Vanny, an avatar that will worship and admire not just Glitchtrap, but also her grandfather for ruining Fazbear Entertainment and creating a cult that would honor his legacy. So in my opinion, Vanessa is an Afton who was Mike’s daughter all because Mike wants a real family. And later on falls victim into her Grandfather’s evil and starts a cult that’ll honor William for the terrible things he had done. (On the side note, I’m probably coping over TWB since I’m still a FNAF1-93 believer) But hey, that’s just a theory, AN ODD GAME THEORY!!! Thanks for reading

I thought the 30 years thing in Fnaf 3 was counting down to the demise of the original Freddy's restaurants rather than William Afton mummifying in agony. Everything spoken of that phrase was being cut into by the urban myths surrounding Fazbear entertainment, so I thought the fright attraction was built 30 years after the MCI with no more restaurants around.

fnaf 1 could take place on 1992 basead on pete's step closer age, if micheal is 16 on 1983 he would be 25 on 1992, the same age from micheal on the movie universe

You pretty much summarized my thoughts on VanessaAfton, it isn't a necessarly a bad theory, but it doesn't really seem that this is what Scott was implying, IMO at least(also, sometimes it gives me CassidySis flashbacks 💀). And while I disagree with some parts with the timeline that you made, I'm glad you actually took the time to read TWB. Great video!

I think she’s Vanny, who might be Vanessa, who might be the beta tester player / main character in Help Wanted 1…maybe.

Great theory that finally gives FNAF World the attention it deserves! I agree that FNAF World definitely has some lore importance and I'm hopeful that the franchise will revisit this game in some form or another.
