    Great video as usual. Living in the Midwest I do a lot of light wind winging it's all I've got! I'm finding as I improve I can get going in 8 to 9 knots but there are of course big holes in the wind inland. So I can pump the board and pump the wing but eventually one just comes off the foil. Am I right in thinking that you have the same issue here - eventually you run out of apparent wind if it's very light? In essence for consistent very light wind once your up foil drive you can keep going but in very spotty wind with big holes one might not get much advantage - foil drive will help getting on foil but it won't help staying on foil?

      Hi John, thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Depends on the wind direction but there are 3 launch areas on the banana river thats 45 mins from orlando airport... 1. That is impressive and encouraging at the same time. I’ve been doing kite surfing since 2003 and two months ago I bought a 98L 5”4 board, a x1,600 foil (70cm mast) and a4.5m wing. I’m 163 pounds and cannot get on foil in my first two sessions. I was really frustrated, one of my friends gave me his 6.0m wing and a 118L / 5”10 board and I got on foil almost immediately. Second session with the big wing I was riding both ways. Next session it was 17 to 22 knots and I decided to use my 4.5 meter wing and my board. I got on foil twice briefly and cannot get on foil again so I ended up exhausted. The very next day it was 19 to 23 knots and again cannot get on foil until I use my friends 5.5 meter. I know I’m learning but is frustrating to think that I will need tons of wind to do this, with this video I know that I’m just a kook 😂😂😂. By the way I live in Puerto Rico and usually is windy all year round but since I bought the wing gear it has been terrible!! Rain and no wind, or you have a brief period of wind in the morning and then at 10 to 11am the wind dies which is very strange. Anyway, thanks for the video. Can’t wait to have wind to keep this journey.

I have ptm1001 and ptm926, but am looking at 899 and wondering how much low end it gives up compared to the other two ... 2 mph, 5mph in more windspeed needed? Similarly, how much is gained from the g1000?

    Hey Dean, What is the mast position when using the PTM899, relative to the G900. While foiling, I got the impression that at higher speeds my front foot pressure really had to increase to keep the foil in the water. I do use my front footstraps, so putting my front foot further forward is difficult. Do you change the mast position when changing the foil and if yes, how? if ur front foot pressure is increasing w speed ur stab should be shimmed . slingshot sells a shim kit for $11. as u go faster u need more fwd foot pressure so u need "less lift" shim or I believe neg. badscally u gotta tilt stab flatter or trailingvedge down. start less lift 0.5 degree shim see how that goes. go slow to fast. if u have to increase fwd foot pressure w speed then up it - 1.0 then - 1.5 back off if ever seems squirly in pitch. if u have a smaller stab u could try that too the goal is to decrease negative lift from stab.

    Dean, great to see how that performs. I'm not sure if Iunderstood correct: you launched = got up on the foil flying, in 7-9 mph / 6-8 knots? I have also the same combination 899 v360 and thinking all time ifI need a low wind front winh or not like the g1007. You have both ones. How big is the low end difference out of your experience? The 899 is more fun and has a much more better glide out of my experience. But I had the g1007 only tested for 10 mind from a friend. Low end of 899 is better more back?

      Hi Michael. The wind on the inside was super light 7-9 mph, I could not get the foil up in that wind. Further out the wind had very short gusts around 12-14 mph and average of 10-14 mph. Yes I have the G1007 which I use more for foil drive (like efoil). If the wind is averaging 5-9 mph I use foil drive and g1007. If the wind is 10-14 I wing using G900. Hello, I set the back of the mast plate at #1.5 in the tracks, I prefer the single rear strap because I use fairly small sails and prefer my weight to be over the mast to turn and carve, if you use big sails, then having the footstraps out on the rail will give you better leverage when foiling upwind.

      If I remember next time I will...Basically its a wrist strap that has a loop you put your thumb through and then you wrap the wrist and its held in place with velcro. The material is like a thick canvas material and keeps your wrist nice and tight.

    I have been wondering how well the FDA would work for windfoiling, primarily for those really light wind days when you just can’t pump it up on foil even though there is enough wind power to keep you on foil, if you could only get the board up. So thanks for doing this experiment and it makes me want to invest in a FDA even more now. I can envision it being really useful for really light wind ocean Windsurf Wave Foiling too!😊

    • @peaplecreative
      @peaplecreative 6 месяцев назад

      Thanks Chuck, yes, I don't think there is anything else that will get you going in light and gusty winds. Maybe FD will work on the ergonomics of the remote control and make it easier to hold while gripping the boom that's the only thing I think that needs to be tweaked.!

    Same issue with the controller and the wing leashes tangling... I stoped leashing the wing since I can get back to it with the foil drive if I drop it... in light wind it can't go anywhere anyway and in strong wing it slowly keeps flipping over and over... just don't loose it on land

    • @peaplecreative
      @peaplecreative 6 месяцев назад

      Thats a great idea not leashing the wing, thanks for the comment :)

  • @vim55k

    How much time proportionally did you spend winging vs efoiling? After lifting, did you do a straight line pure winging?

    • @peaplecreative
      @peaplecreative 6 месяцев назад

      once the wing has enough wind (say around 7-8 mph) together with the foil being so efficient I could just wing with no motor assist, the key is to use the foil drive to get board speed, once it pops up you can pump the board and foil. There are times when it's almost glass and I would use about 70% throttle to keep going.

    I tried this setup and I'm not a fan. I hate the controller leash and the trying to press the controller button while I'm futzing around. It might work OK if on a dead flat lake. But any chop and it becomes even more unmanageable for me. My future money will be better spent on larger foils and wings.

    • @peaplecreative
      @peaplecreative 6 месяцев назад

      The remote and leash is a hassle for sure, but I figured if you are loaded up for the day and it’s flat and gutless at least you can get out on the water. I am using FD more for prone foiling whenever I can get out on the ocean side. Thanks for the feedback.

    Hi, thank you for the explanation and the video. I wing foiled the last 2 years but it gets boring and I want to get in windsurf foiling again. Now, I was wondering if the g800 could be a wing for both Wind AND wing foil. what do you think about low-wind capabilities of this G800 wing in windsurf foiling i.example compared with the pfi730 and the G900? Glide of the G Series should be much better. Also, can you compare top end speed of those wings? I got the wizard 114. My weight is 85kg and sails up max to 5.7. thank you in advance.

    Sorry to hear about your injury and I hope you recover well. For harness lines, just using a 6-7 mm nylon cord instead helps and you will not hit your face with it. Perhaps it would be good to switch stances as well when you ride so you don't need to ride toe side. If you just switch to toe side briefly before going into the jibe, leaving the jibe you will be back in the comfortable heel side stance!

    Agreed with many injury related issues. I’ve had both of my wrists flair up with pain, at different times, and I’ve been using Duotone booms and hard handles for 3 years now. Started doing old windsurfing stretches before my sessions and it’s been almost a year since my last painful post session. Was curious about your Slingshot board, I’m currently riding a Quattro 5’2 80L board and weight 195lbs and have 3.5 years of experience. I have all my turns, Heineken jibes too, and like jumping. I found your same model slingshot boards on sale used, including the 50L and 70L. What size are you using, and would you go smaller, with increased skills, or just continue riding the same size. Your skill looks very similar to mine. I enjoyed the front v-strap while it lasted, using a NSI glue-on insert for the center bottom strap hole. Unfortunately it came unglued during a jump at Sherman Island and I’ve since gone to a single front foot strap. I’ve since ordered a 5-hole insert plug I’ll have to install to use my v-strap again with confidence. Thankfully I didn’t fall hard when I jumped and had my front foot detach from my board midair, I just kicked my back foot out and landed free of my board. Hope you’re back on the water soon and without repetitive injuries. I haven’t used my new harness system yet but hoping to next week

    • @peaplecreative
      @peaplecreative 10 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I have been back on the water this week using a harness and keeping it no more than 30-40 mins and so far so good. I have 3 boards that I use for different winds and whether I’m on the river or ocean side. My daily driver is the 80L (search my video for the review). I use 60L for high winds over 20 mph and a 90 liter for onshore winds in the surf. The waves in Florida are tightly packed and need the volume to get out the back. Like you said I have been working on stretching and cable work with a forearm strap at the gym to build forearm strength instead of annoying the wrist issue. Sounds like your having fun on the water as well, may it long continue for you 👍
