hi my grandmother went to school there and the 3rd building you went into was the general store my dad used to go there and get ice cream there. in your opening footage the house that you showed was my great grandparents we currently still use the land there for family reunions every yr . currently know alot about that place thank you for showing this

My family used to visit Ocean Shores frequently, during the late 60s and early 70s. I was very young, but I remember that place as being unkempt And creepy looking. It stood out from all the beautiful places that dotted the highway to the ocean. Pond, seeing that house on the news years later, linked to these horrific crimes, rattled me. Rest those poor souls.

Not exactly a ghost town, there is close to a thousand people there in the area and a school K-12. I think the post office shut down ages ago though for some reason, odd to have almost a thousand people and no post office, I know far smaller towns with one. So ya a "partial" ghost town. My dad's family is from nearby Vernonia.

There’s an old native legend of St Helens. Two warriors of the same tribe both wanted the heart of a squaw. They continuously fought with each other and even burned their families and lodges. The God of the lands became furious with their destruction and turned one warrior into Mt Hood to the south, another into Mt Rainier to the North, and in between them was the most beautiful of them all, Mt St Helens, the squaw herself.

It is sickening that they remodeled that place and someone’s actually living in it. That property should be less vacant and that house should’ve been torn down. I’ve lived in this town, my whole life and every time I went past it it gave me the chills.

Does anyone know why the county allowed it to decay to such extent? Perhaps it private land? Such a shame to see it dilapidated, as cool as old stuff is, would’ve been neat to see it cleaned up and quaint.
