With your 10" miter saw, you can cut 3 pickets at a time . Cut the first to length and use it as a templet. Set up a stop or stack all 3 pickets and the templet plank on top, make a line/mark remove the templet picket and cut all 3 pickets at one time. It's a time saver. learned this building fence's. Great guy, great video.

Two tthings of caution with this jig: 1. The drill stop collars do slip often on repetitive use. I ended up using a split ring collar and got better results. 2. Be very careful on setting your drill depth on box joints. Allow for the brad point on the drill bit so you dont penetrate the face side of your stock. I would opt for a standard drill bit tip.

Don't buy from any retail store. Find your wholesale suppliers and buy there. Also you might talk to local fence contractors, they may have surplus material from a job you could buy cheap. There are hundreds of products that you can produce. Many outdoor furniture products can be made from pallets. You are on the right track . You have to account for ALL your expense including paying yourself. It's not worth the effort if you can't get paid at the end of the day. Good luck.

From Home Depot: Ground contact lumber can be used for raised garden beds for ornamental plants. If edibles are to be planted, you can line the pressure-treated boards with plastic. This will keep soil from making contact with the wood. Don't use plastic across the bottom of the garden bed, as that will prevent drainage. Natural cedar and fir can be used for raised garden beds for edibles.

You poured twice as much linseed as tung oil into the jar. Then you added about one quarter as much grated beeswax. So it's more like a two to one mix to four mix. Does it matter much?

You should NOT use pressure treated wood for any type of planter box especially raised garden beds. The chemicals used on the wood leaches into the soil and into your plants, that is if you get anything to grow well. You should use the cedar fence pickets instead. They cost pretty much the same and are resistant to bugs. I’ve made several for my garden and they’ve lasted a long time and the cedar looks great.

I went with VG fir for my doors, base, and case. Although it looked great , I found that I was allowing 7-10 days between coats to avoid what appeared to be blistering to the top surface of the VG. After approx 6-8 months, the finish went chalky in appearance. Another coat of tung oil made it look great again , but then 6 months later I was back where I began . So, a matte finish poly has been on the fir for the last ten years = problem solved.

I have the very similar DW733 planer which I bought used and just overhauled. My problem (and that of others according to the internet) is that the tables are below the bed and the adjusting screws just change the angle of the tables, not their height where they meet the bed. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.
