  • In this video, I review the Skil 10 inch Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw MS6305-00. I bought it with profits from my woodworking business to help speed up my workflow. After unboxing and assembling it for this video, I used it for 6 months on projects to get a good feel for it. At the end, I give you my overall impressions of it.

This is the official Description of the MS6305-00 on Skil's Amazon page:
"The 10” dual bevel sliding miter saw is powered by a 15-Amp motor that drives 4,800 RPM, delivering extended power and durability. This miter saw features a horizontal grip handle with a center located safety trigger for left- or right-handed use. The 9 detents on the stainless-steel miter plate and 11 miter locations allows for 50-degree cuts left or right, with 11 positive stop positions at commonly used angles. The tool comes equipped with a cam miter lock knob for repeatable accuracy, durability, and easy adjustments, while the tall sliding fences support 4-1/2” base molding vertically, and 6-1/4” crown molding vertically nested. The LED Shadow Line provides high precision cuts with greater accuracy than traditional lasers, while the lightweight design and built-in carrying handle provide convenience and portability. The quick work clamp quickly secures materials for safer cutting."

Nice video David. I have this saw and the same stand clamps here in New Zealand. I like it a lot and you get real bang for your buck. Skil tools are sweet for DIY and construction. I also have the Skil table saw, drill press, router table, 10A fixed base router and the 14A plunge router. All my Skil tools have heaps of power. Nothing bogs down. Next on the list will be the Skil bandsaw to replace my old but very cool 1984 Black & Decker drill powered bandsaw. Skil are the best value for money hands down. They are accurate, powerful and they last. Even if that saw only lasted 1/2 the life of a DeWalt you are still in the money no worries at all. Guaranteed it will last longer than that.

Had this saw in my Amazon & Menard's list for awhile. I almost bought the Delta Cruzer over Christmas when it went on sale for $249 but because of the dust collection issues I decided to pass on the Delta. Picked this up on sale at Menard's for $199 yeterday (1/7/2024). Will be testing it out soon but seems to be a good saw.

Bought this saw 2 1/2 years ago for $250
I tied to switch blades and the nut holding the blade wouldn’t come out. Skil sent me a new saw after 2 months, but I’ve been using it ever since. Good saw but had to make a better dust collection system.
It needs better clearance on the right side of the blade as the mother gets in the way on taller pieces.

Not sure if the deal is still on but got mine 5 days ago when it went to 219$. I’m super impressed with it. I’m using it to break down lumber and soon will be moving into a new shop and need to make a lot of quick cuts for shelves and cabinets. As far as I can tell, it’s dead on straight from the factory. Their 14amp router combo is at 119 too, absolutely no question the best value out there

  • @nathangardner772

I wouldn’t consider the broken piece a mistake. Dude stuff happens. I’ve had pieces fly off in all directions. I’ve cut into the fences on several saws, broke a fence and sent it flying once. Had a piece go through the dust chute through the dust bag and into a sheet rock wall before. This is over 20+ years. It doesn’t happen more than a handful of times in your life unless you’re being careless. Nice job getting the exact replacement.

Just got my Skill 10'' miter,
    really awesome, but the clamp
    while quick, is quite limp.
I was cutting a short piece from
a 12'' wide board and noticed that
my cut could quite easily be off
as the blade could likely move it while
initiating or the cut. The clamp
on my last miter saw could be cranked
as tight as needed, and it was not
nearly as nice as this saw.

Do you happen to have a video on how to square this saw up? I have had 2 saws of this brand and both were out of square when I received and I have never been able to get them square. Never had that problem with other brands.

Man, I found this saw on marketplace after I watched your review and bought it for $180. I didn’t get to check out the saw but it “looked” legit. Got it home, plugged it in and ran the blade. Noticed when I released the trigger the blade was not slowing and I couldn’t remember if it had a blade brake or not but definitely was a red flag. I ran a piece of construction 2x6 through it and it would cut but then the blade would just stop like something internally wrong. Now I’ll have to contact Skil to figure out a repair shop and see if the cost is even worth it. Such deceitful people 😡

Where are you looking? The amazon link on here is £940 😂Must be an import. At that price I might as well get another makita LS1219 which I'm trying to replace on a budget.
I'm trying to get this saw and the jobsite 10" table saw here in the uk. Skil don't list them on their uk website and state availability is through their authorised retailer screwfix..... If screwfix decide to sell them????
Screwfix state they have no plans to sell them at present and didn't even know they existed.
Skil are p1551ng me off with just one UK outlet, that one being screwfix.

I just bought one today. I’m very disappointed with the roughness of the slider bearings. If I push and pull the slider slowly I get a rough bump bump bump feeling and it doesn’t move smoothly.
Has anyone found this on theirs?

    • @DavidCanMakeThat
      @DavidCanMakeThat  3 месяца назад

I had a little of that at the beginning, until I realized that I hadn’t set up the fence right, and the motor housing was slightly bumping into it and the hold down clamp. Once I figured that out, there were no issues.

I bought this saw because of the low price and good reviews. I wanted to replace my older harbor freight hercules 12inch with something smaller. This saw is a cheap piece of junk. I'm returning it to Amazon immediately. My hercules is a Cadillac compared to this thing. I will not be buying anymore skil tools.
