Love the wardrobes and your colour choice you both doing a great job ❤xxx
Lovely kitchen 😊
Would a dehumidifier help with the damp in the meantime?
Great minds think alike, Anne! 😊 We actually bought a dehumidifier, and it’s amazing how much water it collects-definitely helping with the damp in the meantime. Thanks for the suggestion!
What a beautiful location! Very cosy cottage and great potential. I’m so envious! Benjie already has it sussed! Happy new home guys! Xxx
Thank you so much, Anne! 😊 We feel incredibly lucky to have found this little slice of paradise. Benji’s definitely settled in and made it his own already! 🐾 So glad you can share in our excitement-sending hugs from our cosy cottage! Xxx
@ hugs and warm wishes to you all xxx
I know it's expensive but, it seems to be a very worrisome item so I would bite the bullet and pay for a quick resolve! You have plenty to keep you busy with just moving in as it is. Love the cabinetry! Well done! 😊
Thank you, Cynthia! 😊 You’re absolutely right-it’s a big expense but getting the pros in to handle it would definitely put our minds at ease. With so much to sort out after the move, one less major project would be a relief! So glad you like the cabinetry too-really appreciate the kind words!
If you look at the cost as a combination of getting the job done and getting some “training” it doesn’t seem so bad after all 🤔 😁🤗🥰
Such a good way to look at it, Murial! 😊 Getting the pros in means we get the job done right and pick up some valuable tips along the way-it’s like an investment in both the house and our DIY skills! Thanks for the perspective! 😁🤗🥰
I really want to watch your videos, but I keep turning them off because you ramble on saying the same thing 20 times in a row.
Thank you for the honest feedback, Gloria! 😊 I’ll keep it in mind and work on getting to the point a bit quicker in future videos. Really appreciate you taking the time to share this-I’m always looking to improve!
The wardrobes look brilliant and I actually like the grey doors. Benji is such a beautiful dog with a stunning face. Great video
Thank you so much, Nicola! 😊 So glad you like the wardrobes-the grey doors have definitely grown on us too! And Benji will be thrilled to hear he has a fan-he is quite the handsome boy, isn’t he? 🐾❤️ Appreciate the kind words!
why cant you just buy a new home and move in at leisure and them sell your current home?
Thanks for the question! 😊 We actually looked into that option, but with the way property sales and purchases work here, most people need to sell their current home to fund the new one. It would’ve been ideal to have a bit of overlap, but the same-day handover is just the way it worked out! Definitely made for a hectic moving day!
Definitely get the work done with professionals put your mind at rest 🙋🏼♂️
Thanks, Tom! 😊 Bringing in the professionals really does seem like the best way to put our minds at ease. Appreciate the encouragement!
I don’t know why some owners feel the need to paint over those beautiful exterior walls. Old cottages in Northern Ireland and Ireland were painted with a lime wash and mortar or left with their stone walls. This building will be maintained by you both for years to come. Get the professional in as they are highly skilled that’s why it’s not cheap, specialist tradesmen.
Thank you for sharing that, Charm! 😊 We feel the same about the natural beauty of these old stone walls-they really have so much character. We’re definitely leaning towards bringing in a professional to restore them properly. It’s true, the expertise is worth the cost, especially when it comes to something that will last for years. Appreciate the insight!
Loving the Ikea wardrobes Jonny, well done! They fit the space really well. I think your ideas for embellishing them will be great. I’m looking forward to seeing the end result. Whilst I am all for saving money if it’s a job I can do myself I think I have to agree with the majority on this occasion on the gable end wall. If you can afford it get the professionals in and get the outside done. You will learn a lot by observation. Great vlog, Benjy is just adorable 😁
Thank you, Max! 😊 So glad you’re liking the wardrobes-they really do fit the space nicely, and we’re excited to add some finishing touches to make them our own. And yes, it seems like the consensus is definitely leaning towards getting the pros in for the gable end wall. Watching them work will be a great learning experience! Benji sends a big tail wag your way! 🐾😁
It looks lovely but have you considered your old age? That’s got a lot of steps and should anyone need care assistance in the future (I hope you don’t but it’s common)… all the very best regardless in your new home.
Thanks so much for the thoughtful comment! 😊 You’re absolutely right-thinking about the future and accessibility is important. We’re actually leaning towards replacing the spiral staircase in the living room with something a bit more practical. Appreciate the good wishes, and we’re excited to make this place a long-term home!
@ I’ve subscribed and look forward to your future videos :)
@@AmsNl2BcnEs Thank you so much for subscribing! 😊 We’re thrilled to have you along for the journey and look forward to sharing many more updates with you!
Is it just me who loves the lilt of a North-East England accent?
Glad to know it’s appreciated. Always nice to bring a bit of home into the videos! 😊
Honestly, the cottage is your biggest investment and it is worth spending the money and enjoying peace of mind over winter, rather than having it hanging over you. It will be done properly and you will be learning how to do it properly. In the meantime, once it's done, you'll have the log fire burning through the cold months and that will be helping the wall dry from the inside out. The wardrobe doors look good👏
Thank you, Ellie! 😊 You’re absolutely right-the cottage is definitely worth the investment, and getting it done properly will give us that peace of mind over winter. We can already picture the log fire crackling away, helping the walls dry out from the inside! So glad you like the wardrobe doors too-they’re coming together nicely! 👏
Just started watching your channel and I’m loving it! We have a thatched cottage in Kent ( I’m actually from Northumberland ) so know how challenging it can be with lots of beans and low ceilings 🤪 I always think it’s best to live in the property for a while so you can get the feel of the place but it sounds like you have some great ideas and I can’t wait to see what you do. We also want to put a copper bath in our bathroom but it’s finding one that will fit through the small door way 🤦♀️ Take care and look forward to seeing your next video 😊
Thanks so much, Julie! 😊 Thrilled you found our channel and are enjoying it! Your thatched cottage in Kent sounds amazing-I can totally relate to managing beams and low ceilings! 😂 And I hadn’t even considered the challenge of fitting a copper bath through the door-now you’ve got me thinking! 😱 Fingers crossed you find one that works. Take care, and we’re so happy to have you along for the journey! 🛁✨😊
@ 🥰
Your colour choice is very classy your wright it will be the Highland style It will be braw in yir wee butt 'n' ben (although you have more than two rooms) love your videos and both of you ❤to bonnie benjixxx
Thank you, Heather! 😊 So glad you like the color choice-Highland style is exactly what we’re aiming for! It’ll be ‘braw in oor wee butt ‘n’ ben’ indeed (even with a few extra rooms!). Thrilled you’re enjoying the videos, and Benji sends lots of love right back to you! ❤️🐾 xxx
Hi lads hope your both well, can I make a suggestion the floor area at the back of the lounge doesn’t on film look very wide for what your purposing to do, I would try making it slightly wider, also I would bring in the singer spiral staircase and put it at the back of the room so the lounge will open up and close the ceilings in both rooms making more room in the kitchen you can then reconfigure the bedrooms having steps down to smaller bedroom and making that into a study/office. With the staircase at the centre of the cottage you may well be able to access the loft above the master bedroom, the old spiral staircase could be used outside for pot plants love you both but love your lab more ❤
Hi Margaret! 😊 Thank you so much for all your wonderful ideas! We actually thought about moving the spiral staircase to the back of the room, but there’s a massive 3-foot-thick stone wall there-it was once the dividing wall between the two cottages before they were opened up. The attic space doesn’t extend that far, so moving the staircase would mean knocking through that wall and extending the upstairs. Even then, we’d face a big step up and limited ceiling height because the neighboring cottage was on a different level. But who knows-maybe it’s something we could consider down the road as we figure out the best use of the space. And Benji sends his love too! 🐾❤️ Thanks again for the inspiration!
You are both very creative I’m sure you will do something magical can’t wait to see what happens next x
Get it done guys....
Thanks, Miriam! 😊 We’re definitely leaning towards getting it done professionally-sometimes it’s just worth the peace of mind. Appreciate the nudge!
