Also, does the game address why one would use certain items, such as ants, and what type of ants they are, or what type of other items by the name of the plant for instance? I mean, this is a game where one can learn fundamentals about surviving in real world scenarios, but only if we get more information than "Blue Mushrooms" (for instance), as you know in real life there are several versions of blue mushrooms. Some will get you high (Blue Meanies), some can be used just for food and others are poisonous. Does it tell you the type of mushroom and stuff like that?

I think cleric isn’t popular not because it’s support but because Shadowheart is the most popular companion and she’s a cleric, plus she’s the first companion you get out of the tutorial.

While it's more dips than full cleric; a real beast of a party would be a Bard/Cleric[Life]/Rogue (healer), Sorcerer/Cleric[Light] with the radiating orb debuffer setup(support), Sorcerer/Cleric[Temptest]/Wizard for the damage dealer (kill 'em all with lightning), and I don't know... fill the last slot with whatever you're missing.

the martial-caster disparity works both ways in bg3, which is why so many people are usually hesitant to select cleric at the beginning. levels 1-4 are HELL for casters in bg3, especially clerics. early-game, with lower STR and DEX than martials they aren't the most accurate weapon users (unless you choose nature domain and have a club or quarterstaff equipped for shillelagh), they don't have many spell slots to start out with when their spellcasting modifier is only +3, so every time you cast guiding bolt you risk wasting a precious slot. sacred flame doesn't get decent until later, since it's spell save DC against enemy dexterity, and unfortunately a lot of act 1 enemies have pretty high DEX. however, mid-game is when a lot of martial classes fall off and it becomes increasingly apparent how powerful clerics are, especially in the shadowlands. i ran two runs at once, an all-caster (DB sorcerer, abjuration wizard, land druid, tempest cleric) party and an all-martial (open hand monk, battle master, thief, berserker) party, and had them both fight myrkul's avatar. in the martial run, myrkul went down in the 3rd or 4th turn because all we could do was repeatedly hit him, and our fighter was getting dumpstered. in the caster run, all it took to kill myrkul was create water and call lightning, and he was gone by the beginning of turn 2. by act 3, my cleric had all the really good spell save-DC increasing gear (my druid got the leftovers from previous acts which were still pretty good). wisdom-based classes are unstoppable in late game, and clerics don't even need to be multiclassed!

I'm in an only Paladin playthrough, and it's... easy. Once everyone's at level 5 and speed potions are stocked up, everything just ends on the first turn. The creche didn't stand a chance. The paladin multiclasses are also devious...

Nice run I completed the all cleric run myself it was fun as hell now I'm working on going through as nothing but druids having fun right now almost done with act one.

I agree clerics are terribly underrated. Clerics only weakness as a caster is a higher dependence on spell slots than other casters, but in BG3 that’s easy to fix with elixirs and long rests that are much more restricted in tabletop. The reason for this is the lack of worthwhile damage dealing cantrips that scale up. But if you’re hardcore and limit elixirs and LR with house rules, then clerics are much more difficult. Clerics can use weapons for damage and their lack of extra attack can be compensated with speed potions. (Clerics don’t get Haste - but a war cleric has a cut rate version.). But again without the potions as melee damage dealers clerics are inherently less powered.

You dont have to fight the group before coming to withers. There Are 2 different ways to him. Via lockpicking.

Definitely JUSTICE for clerics. I think people calling them "healers" makes them think that's all they can do which is obviously not the case. Definitely my favorite of the standard non-mod classes.

Clerics are great at everything except dialogue and skill checks like Bards. A 4 Bard party would be the best followed by 4 Clerics in terms of versatility and control spells.

You played 4 clerics...... and never once used one of the best spells in the game "aid"...... dude

4 clerics are incredibly powerful as their spells are key to solving many encounters. I completed custom mode with Honors mode settings mainly with knowledge, tempest, light and war clerics. It was a blast, i managed to beat Grym without sustaining any damage. 2 war clerics with hammers, a silence bubble and remaining 2 clerics spamming command prone. It’s all about preparation.
