Buying A Rural Property | Vancouver Island Real Estate
There are three critical factors to consider when buying a cottage on the lake, a cabin in the woods, or ocean-side real estate on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. These properties are not connected to municipal services and need extra scrutiny when considering a purchase. This means you need to inspect things like the heating, water, and sewage disposal systems, which have a high cost with which many buyers are unfamiliar.
Join Scott Lissa, a realtor who focuses on helping people like you relocate to Vancouver Island, as he walks you through the process of buying rural property and the most important factors to consider.

There won’t truly be downtown “revitalization” until the city has a proper multiplex downtown. The Port Theatre is it. Horrid decision by council to build a conference center that mostly houses city council. Or the “cruise ship” wharf. White elephants. Downtown revitalization must be driven by residents and there needs to be a draw to bring citizens and residents downtown. E&N needs to be run in the opposite direction if there’s any chance of success, commuter and shopping in Victoria during the day and returning up island in the evening.

Parksville does not have a Mediterranean climate which requires an average yearly temperature of 10 degrees Celsius. Parksville's average temperature is 9.5 C. sorry. Port Alberni is the only Vancouver Island city that has a Mediterranean climate, as Koppen defines as Csa. (with Lake Cowichan and Woss Camp coming extremely close) Of further interest is that Port Alberni holds the Canadian record for Snowfall (to answer your question, yes it snows on Vancouver Island.) In the winter of 1967-68 Port Alberni had a snowfall of 23 feet 11 inches. One of the ridges on the way to Tofino, Dorian Ridge regularly get over 80 feet of snow. There's a story that's where the water and electrical supplies for Protection are placed, don't know if that's still true. There's also connections from the shafts near the Departure Bay ferry terminal under the channel to workings under Newcastle Island. There's at least 5 shafts on Shaft Point (surprise, surprise).
