    Yes, downtown Nanaimo is indeed a great place to live for the very reasons that you mentioned (despite the relatively small) homelessness and drug problems.
    I notice that you captured me at 3:00. I'm the old geezer out on my daily 12K run along the waterfront...

      There’s some pretty spectacular events that get held downtown every year. I definitely recommend checking out the Knight market that’s held on commercial Street during the summer.

    love your videos, great content, greetings from Peru. I´m planning to migrate to canada, and BC has stolen my heart1 Love Okanagan region and now, vancouver islands. a quick question, what about rentals for one people relocating (and with pets)??? Thanks, Lou

    • @Nanaimore
      @Nanaimore  6 месяцев назад +1

      Some places allow pets and others do not. One bedroom rentals range from $1200 up to $1400 a month. Two bedrooms are $1650 a month or more.
      My brother lives in Kelowna, and it is an amazing place. However, during the summer, the smoke from the fires makes it near unlivable.

      I love Kelowna and that is true, fires on 2023 were terrible and as I can see, it happens every single summer!! I´m looking options also in Penticton, Summerland, Oliver, Vancouver Islands of course.

    Hi!!!! is there any policy to fight against homeless in Nanaimo? I mean, we are talking about a quite "small size city" in comparison with other major places, so if no action is taken right away, the control could be loss later! Final question, what about job opportunities? I can evidence there is a lack of employers what companies and business has no knowledge and feel fear of hiring international workers!

    • @Nanaimore
      @Nanaimore  6 месяцев назад +2

      I believe the last official count I saw were 450 homeless people. 120 of which were chronically homeless. Technically one person being homeless is too many. However, the numbers in Nanaimo are relatively small. This community has an amazing outreach program to people who want to get past addiction and find housing solutions, though they’re always as room for improvements. if you’re willing to start a nonprofit company and help out, I’m sure there are tax advantages.

    • @LourdesChuquipiondo
      @LourdesChuquipiondo 6 месяцев назад

      The idea of starting a non profit sounds good to me. Here in Peru I have a company that has 3 action lines: promotion of tourism destinations / attractions; consultancy for small businesses in tourism and a tour operator & travel agency in Mindful Travel and Mindful Experiences to fight stress, anxiety, depression and other mental and health problems trough travel and mindfulness. I would love to continue working on that however, in the migration pathways for international entrepreneurs, the amount to star ta business in Canada is almost unreachable for a Latin migrant. Do you have any other idea about the non profit ? Thanks @@Nanaimore

      There are no policies in place to fight homelessness that actually work. Public drug use and indecency is actually encouraged. But DO NOT even think about skipping the parking meter if you want to view the dump that is nanaimos downtown as youll be promptly fined.

      Old city Quarter is not safe now
      Anybody that knows that area knows that they’re very violent homeless people all over the area.
      The business owners have constant problems, your sugar coating it
      Nanaimo is very Beautiful but Getting very dangerous.
      I just googled the crime severity index says, Nanaimo is the sixth most crime ridden city in British Columbia
