worth mentioning that “priority boarding” doesn’t mean that you pay to get on the plane faster, it means that you get put on the plane ahead of the people without overhead luggage because you have overhead luggage, so it’s faster for the airline to get those people on first. you’ll notice that there is no way to get priority boarding without also getting overhead luggage allowance

If the flight is over sold that “extra seat” will be allocated to someone else. There is no way to guarantee an empty seat next to you

When I flew to Budapest I did a cost comparison between easyjet and BA. The ticket for BA which included a checked bag was a couple of pounds more expensive than easyjet with the added checked bag. With the cost of getting to either Luton (easyjet) or Heathrow (BA), the BA option was considerably cheaper.

You’re right about Ryanair having hard landings. Last time I flew with them from EMA - Barcelona El Prat, the landing was undoubtedly the hardest landing I’ve ever experienced 😉

No way did fast track security save 30mins. I have been through Gatwick dozens of times over the past few years and rarely spend more than 10mins in the queue - this would definitely be the case when the airport is as quiet as it is in the video

Fun video, and helpful tip about the extra seat. If you go on a Ryanair 737 MAX, try seat 2A for epic legroom as there is no A seat in Row 1.

I didn't know about the Extra Seat trick with Easyjet. I would definitely do it. How does it work in practice though? Do you need to have two boarding passes printed and scanned at the gate to ensure the extra seat you've booked and paid for isn't given away to a standby passenger?

If you book seat 1A on Ryanair theres no need to add priority boarding. The cabin crew will insist on putting your small hand baggage in an overhead locker, (because there's no seat in front to put it under) and retrieve it for you at the end of the flight so you can still be first off the plane!

Flew from DEL to AUH a couple of days ago on a 777 with a similar (but not quite the same) biz product. This had also been swapped from the A350 on my original booking. Gotta admit, I thought it was the worst biz seat I’ve had so far and certainly not what I was expecting from a ‘premium’ carrier like Etihad. Agree the seat is very exposed too. I would choose Qatar every time after this experience. Anyway, great review. Hadn’t heard of your channel before tbh but have subbed and look forward to watching more of your content. 👍

We flew on easy jet on return from spain. Spent 30+ for a bottle of champ. Warm and plastic beakers. Ok, offered ice cubes, but... we won't bother with champagne again :)

Very dull and boring video

I flew with Ryanair from Funchal to Lisboa for €9.99. They ended up issuing me with seat 1A. Guess it was my lucky day. Only downside of they seat is as mentioned in the video. You can feel abit cramped if someone is sitting next to you, because of the door. Still blows my mind that they sell you a flight ticket for a cost of a takeaway meal

Awesome video! Looks way better than our low cost carriers in the US. I find that more often than not, my travel is mostly influenced by the people I encounter. Anyway, I’m lucky that I’m Executive Platinum on AA so I get upgraded almost every flight. No low cost carriers for me in the US. It’s not worth the savings!

I saw such a pancake machine the first time in a Best Western hotel in the middle of nowhere in the US. I did not know what it was and an employee at the hotel breakfast actually showed me how it works, I was puzzled and actually the pancake was tasty! :) SouthWest here in the US has a similar system - you use priority boarding not to be first but to have space for carry-on. As - the cheapest ticket holders board last and there is no space left in the overhead luggage bins. So they check your carry-on for free but it becomes checked luggage and you have to wait at the baggage carrousel at the destination. And - many good credit cards give you a Priority Pass membership - so you can have many lounges in the US for free. I used that in Paris CDG despite travelling in Economy that time. The Yotel Air "Hotel" accepted it and I used it as a lounge.

Not a low cost carrier, but to get the extra seat on Tui if travelling as a couple, Boeing 787-9 (789) go for row 32 seats B&C or G&H as the third seat (A & J) are never used unless booked as three seats by a family. Quite often the middle seats DE&F are not booked either, but this is less guaranteed. plus you get loads of leg room,

The bus gates are a really un-premium experience, but I'd say that even having to trapse through T5, and onto the transit to the B or C gates, where all long haul flights go from (unless its a bus gate), isn't a first class experience either. Imo BA should provide a car service to your gate from the CCR (which AF and LH do). Could use Jaguars or Range Rovers to be all British (even tho they're indian), but hatever it is it would be a huge step up for the overall experience. It also means that as an F passenger, you don't care whether it's a bus gate, you get driven to the plane in a nice private car either way. I imagine the current lounge design doesnt allow for this though, there would have to be a pick up/drop off area on the ground floor under the lounge, and lifts between it and the lounge above, but BA are planning to refurb all their lounges in the coming year or so, so this would be a great opportunity to plan for a service like this. It'd probably work better if the CCR and F lounge were switched around, but idk how easy that would be to do.

Hey man, first time watching a video of yours. Love your attention to detail and sharing this back with us. You make sure to cover most questions people will have. Would like to see more videos in your style (something like “48 hours in Paris’ where you could cover hotel, transportation, restaurants etc). Back to the video, I felt standard was fine for me when I took Eurostar from London to Paris a few weeks ago. I stayed at the connected Renaissance which was super convenient and ensured I got breakfast covered so I didn’t need to eat on the train. It’s only 2 hours so it goes by quick. Luckily I got a seat at the waiting lounge.

Two observations - (1) Speedy/Priority boarding is a joke. You have an allocated seat, boarding the same time as everyone else cos most have it. And why the desire to sit on the plane for longer anyway?? (2) Whatever the review, Michael O'Leary is never getting a penny out of me... horrible man.

I'm a OW FF, and haven't tried an LLC here. I appreciate your method of doing things. Recline on SH should be off limits - even on flag carriers. It can really spoil a flight.

Priority boarding is the biggest scam ever. People actually pay extra money to lug their own suitcase up the steps into the plane (instead of checking it into the hold), AND they have to go ahead and wait on the stairs (which at my local airport are in a metal cage, often in 40-degree heat) for the plane to be turned around, while I (whose seat is just as reserved as theirs) get to sit on a chair at the gate, enjoying the view until going in at the very last minute. I rarely even have trouble finding overhead locker space once on the plane.
