Film is expensive to make in Africa, the little people that have the funding are interested in stories for a general audience. Those able to make films with serious tones have limited releaseq and marketing, plus the majority of the audience can't afford it. They can't afford cinema or netflix. As a filmmaker i keep thinking of ways to make a meaningful art but for audience where they can easily have access to it and somehow not run at a loss.

how do we feel about the Beat Takeshi version? i accedetly downloaded it instead of the classic I was looking for. i like how at the end the movie becomes just a village festival art piece and then the old blind man trips. "Humour is like violence. They both come to you unexpectedly, and the more unpredictable they both are, the better it gets." ~Beat Takeshi

0:10 🎥 Previous video about best battles in Samurai movies received heavy criticism for excluding Zatoichi. 0:42 👀 The creator hadn't included Zatoichi fights because he had only seen one movie and didn't remember it well. 1:15 ⚔️ Zatoichi is a blind swordsman, like a Samurai version of Daredevil, played by Shintaro Katsu. 1:35 📜 "Zato" refers to the lowest rank of blind persons in the Edo era; the first Zatoichi film was in 1962. 1:56 🎬 The creator decided to review all Zatoichi movies in four parts, starting with the first five. 2:47 🌟 "The Tale of Zatoichi" rewatched, serves as a perfect introduction to the character. 3:44 🎲 Zatoichi uses his sharp senses to detect tricks during a dice game, showcasing his skills. 5:00 📽️ The film builds anticipation for Zatoichi’s sword skills, but the payoff is not impactful enough. 7:07 🥋 Zatoichi befriends a dying Ronin, leading to an emotional climax in the film. 8:21 🗡️ Zatoichi uses a cane sword instead of a traditional Katana, reflecting his unique position in society. 9:33 💔 Zatoichi’s reluctance for love and gaps in his backstory leave emotional connections lacking. 10:23 🎥 "The Tale of Zatoichi Continues" sees Zatoichi return, introducing new characters and conflicts. 10:51 ⚔️ Zatoichi refuses to fight criminals initially, showing restraint and strategic thinking. 12:08 🍜 Zatoichi hides from a crippled samurai, revealing more personal history and emotional depth. 13:22 ⚔️ Fight scenes are visually boring and lack violence, affecting engagement. 15:08 🔄 Plot twist reveals Zatoichi’s brother, adding complexity to his backstory. 16:10 📉 Sequel is seen as inferior due to a convoluted plot and unnecessary characters. 17:28 🌟 "The New Tale of Zatoichi" is a standout installment, offering deep insights into Zatoichi’s past. 18:14 🌟 Zatoichi uses cunning to handle thieves, showcasing his intelligence and reputation. 19:00 🥋 Introduction of Zatoichi’s old master, who turns out to be corrupt and cruel. 20:04 🎥 The movie portrays samurai negatively, emphasizing crime and dishonesty to highlight Ichi as a Robin Hood-like character. 20:32 ⚔️ Ichi grows tired of killing and wishes to change his ways. 20:39 💍 Yayo, promised to a samurai, falls in love with Ichi, who agrees to marry her and promises to stop fighting. 21:16 🎲 Ichi, forced to roll dice for his life, loses but is spared by Yayo's brother, who recognizes his sincerity. 21:34 🏃‍♂️ Ichi and Yayo express interest in marriage, but their master disapproves, ending Ichi's relationship with his master. 22:03 🔪 Ichi discovers his master has killed a good man, Bano, who had spared Ichi's life earlier. 22:24 👥 Bano kidnaps a man's son for ransom and kills the man's father, witnessed by Yayo. 22:46 🥋 Ichi fights Bano, believing he's preventing his master from doing something wrong, resulting in a memorable duel. 23:02 😢 Ichi kills Yayo's brother, cries, and leaves her, continuing his lonely journey. 23:15 💔 The movie shows Ichi's vulnerability, dealing with corruption and the loss of his master, brother, and lover. 23:37 🎨 The film's use of color enhances emotional storytelling, with the director's stylistic choices highlighting Ichi's feelings. 24:25 🎥 The direction of fight scenes, with close-ups and hidden stances, makes the combat feel realistic. 24:49 💭 The movie revitalizes interest in Ichi's character, revealing his internal sadness and the corrupt environment he navigates. 25:14 🔄 Ichi struggles with the idea that he is not better than the corrupt people he encounters, feeling conflicted about his actions. 25:35 🎉 The reviewer gives the movie an 8 out of 10, praising it as the best in the series so far. 26:14 📉 The next movie, "Zatoichi the Fugitive," is considered a major step down from the previous film. 26:44 🎭 Shintaro Katsu delivers a powerful performance, carrying the film despite its shortcomings. 27:33 💔 The movie involves a doomed romance, Yakuza politics, and Ichi's past love life, but suffers from terrible pacing. 28:59 🌟 The final act, featuring an intense showdown, saves the movie for the reviewer, though the fight choreography disappoints. 31:10 🔄 "Zatoichi on the Road" returns to the series' roots with a plot similar to the first movie, focusing on Ichi protecting a girl named Mitsu. 32:55 🛡️ Ichi fully embraces his role as a Robin Hood-like figure, helping those in need in a corrupt world. 35:26 🏆 The movie marks a turning point for Ichi, beginning his journey as the mythical blind swordsman helping others. 35:33 🎥 The reviewer gives "Zatoichi on the Road" a 7 out of 10, eager to see the character's future developments. 36:05 🔍 The focus of future movies is expected to shift to the people Ichi helps rather than Ichi himself.

Also, I think the Korean film The Man From Nowhere is pretty engaging. But I do love this list so don’t get me wrong. You chose a lot of excellent films for your list!

    03. Harakiri "Seppuku" (1962) was remade in 2011 under the title "Ichimei" (One Life). The protagonist's villain is played by some of Japan's top actors, including Koji Yakusho, who won the Best Actor Award at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Personally, I think the 2011 remake is a better work than the 1962 original. ruclips.net/video/-_KZPJu1iHw/видео.html
