On this day I head into the deep blue sea and what was meant to be a day out chasing tuna turned into an epic day bottom fishing in 120 meters of water catching Kingfish and all sorts.
My Son catches his first fish ever and its a beauty!!

Taking my Whanau out fishing for the day in the harbour and helping my 2 year old son to catch his first fish, the old saying goes "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime"

Thanks man. Good question, I don’t intentionally not Braine spike/Ike my fish it’s just something I’ve not really practiced throughout my life until I got here to Nz. You will notice in other videos that sometimes I remember and sometimes I don’t it’s not quite second nature for me yet but I’m working on it

when you hook a fish slow the boat right down to a crawl and bring your other lines in befor fighting the fish lot less drama

Bloody brilliant catch bro! Did you use any leader or just put the lure straight on the main line?
Thank you! Yes I always use leader it was only 45lb to braided line. The leader I like to use is Schneider but I don’t think you can get it here in NZ

Hahaha such a crack up vid bro. Hardluck on the rod man. You handled it like a champ. I woulda cried haha. I take a lot of people in my family lure fishing for the first time. I usually just give them a quick run down before we start fishing on how the rods are delicate and they should take their time winding in fish. They are used to big surfcasts and 8000+ size reels. Islander fisherman always buzz out at how you can catch big fish on little rods with ease. Another cool vid bro. Love the content

What fishing line do you use bro? Lbs and type
Two two rods are set up with different line. 1 being 45lb 8 strand braid that I bought 1000 meters of for about $60 from some website. The other is my favourite braid which is Shimano Kairiki 8 strand and on this set up I’ve got 50lb. 50lb is overkill but it’s a reel I used to use reef fishing in Australia. Off the beaches here you could easily use 30lb and not have many of any issues.
