I watched, subscribed, liked and then came back after I searched your channel for a flat bag to sew for my son in law that studies engineering here in Italy. I'd love to get a few new ideas; (since I am not hip and young); he is serious too, like you, and need a flat/thin bag to carry pen, some tech and 2- 3 A4 note books; the laptop they have both in school and at home so he doesn't have to carry that back and forth; his back-pack is just too big for so little. (Just an idea, if you like a challenge)...I'd love to see something a bit more modern, not too sporty but more classic. But modern. HA! Didn't ask for much did I! :))) Feel zero pressure I am still a subscriber and a new fan. <3

This is a great pattern and walkthrough to understand joining panels for pouches. When I first started (and even now) I found doing anything gusseted EXTREMELY difficult. I've been trying to design one like the Saloman pulse ( and there are others like that). It seems to be pull on but I like the idea of having a fastener. I wonder if the straps to the fastener could be a firm elastic. Your feedback on the water bottle holder is very interesting - I had assumed I would be optimizing pulling the bottle out on the run... but that would definitely be a different design. More to think about and prototype. Thanks!

I use this belt quite often - today in fact - but also want to make a lyrca belt like the one you mentioned. I'm most concerned about not having adjustability for fit and layering. Maybe there's an idea to have a mostly lycra belt but with a cord or webbing channel around the top and bottom perimeter to add a bit of adjustment. I don't mind taking the belt off to drink but its a bit unconventional. I have not found a sleeve design for soft flasks once they are half empty. To me its much less fiddly to simply leave it in the sleeve and stop for a short break. I've seen others just toss the soft flask in the lycra belt but it needs to be quite tight fitting to prevent bounce.
