This helps a lot. Im only a couple years in so I'm still learning the stupid simple stuff. My other MYOG dude quit doing his videos so I'm really glad I stumbled across your channel. Thanks! Subscribed.
I use a binding attachment with seam binding tape. Sewing tight radii with grosgrain will not result in a clean finish. Use a bias binding tape instead.
Doing curves with thicker material like canvas is more difficult than with the thinner fabric you are using. Also after many tries to perfect the skill I still cant figure out how to turn the material under around the curve. I’m wondering if my walking foot sewing machine is the issue. You don’t seem to use a walking foot machine in your video.
Hey @LearnMYOG ! your videos have been very helpful. However, I was wondering if you could make a video regarding how to sew ripstop nylon? I'm making a backpack but before I dive in I have been making smaller projects with the materials I want to use. Ripstop nylon has me stumped. I can't sew ripstop onto ripstop for reasons unknown (hence why I asked for a video on the topic), so my solution currently is to attach a liner to all ripstop pieces. Help would be nice, please.; I am using 100% nylon thread, tension has been 5 with the liners underneath each ripstop piece, and I have tried both a Jean (100/16) & Microtex (90/14) needle. My guess would be I need to play with the tension? Although I've already played with it a lot and can't find the solution there, next is maybe I need a skinnier needle? and lastly, maybe I need tear-off backing although I don't see you use backing ever. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you.
Recommend posting at r/myog subreddit with photos and more info for help. Sounds like you may have the wrong needle/thread or machine settings. While ripstop is somewhat slippery, it should sew easily.
Hi, thank you for the video and for the awesome channel! Question: does this method work even for angles that are bigger than 90 degrees? I have tried it and although doesn't look too bad I still get a tiny bit of fabric crimped.

Sewing tight curves is especially tough for beginners. If you've been struggling, here's the tips & tricks that result in a pro-level result 🔥
I want to try making bags, so this is going to be very helpful
Great tip and explanation thanks
Killer trick with the masking tape. Little moves like this make big changes in quality over the course of an entire project, good stuff!
Ya not sure where I picked that up but it definitely helps get those clean curves!

This one was a really good video. Clear, thorough, and to the point. The contrasting fabrics made it easy to see what you were doing.

Just keep practicing and ensure the two panels are sized correctly. Also add balance notches to confirm alignment as you go.
On the corners, where do you cut the relief cut? Is it 3/8 of an inch from the corner? Thx
