    Thank you for this. It's been very nice watching clips of this compelling film with you and your son but - but poor boy! He's very brave sitting through that intensity! Of course, it's powerful, beautiful, intriguing, thoughtful film, full of depth, reflection and mystery. One that stays with you long after it finishes. I think your son was right though - the doctor didn't believe the original patient who could see dead people. When he played the tapes back he could hear them at a higher volume and hear the living complain about the sudden cold.

    Boxing uses the "10-point must" system. The basis is that at the end of each round, each judge decides which fighter won that round. The winner of the round is awarded 10 points, and the other fighter is awarded 9 points. In the event of a knockdown, the fighter who is knocked down loses a point. Presuming the knocked-down fighter was also the loser of the round, the score for that round would be 10 - 8. A fighter may also lose a point as a penalty for rule violation. At the end of the bout, the points are totaled. So, suppose a 10-round bout, with one fighter winning all rounds, no knockdowns or penalties, the score would be 100 to 90.

    What makes this movie so memorable is the fact that it scares the * out of you. If you waited until he was older it would not have been scary for him and it would have been forgettable. Having nightmares about it is a good thing; that's what makes it memorable. You just don't want it to be so bad that you develop phobias. I think this is a good age, maybe even a year earlier would have been a bit better.

    Dear Dan J, I love you guys. Thank you for sharing your time with us. This is one of my favorite two movies. I saw it in the theater when I was 10 years old. I was also disappointed with the ending. Though I think I had a better idea of how boxing works at the time. There are three judges in each of their scores is red separately. The first two judges differ in their opinions. One is for Apollo and the other is for Rocky. Rocky has achieved his goal of just going the distance with Apollo Creed. He’s proved that he’s tough enough and what he wants in that moment is his deepest connection to another human being on the planet. His connection to Adrian and their mutual confession of love is what he needs to succeed in life. The fight is irrelevant. Although if you listen closely, you can hear the announcer saying “and still heavyweight champion of the world, Apollo Creed.”

    • @DoakFelix-qr8uw
      @DoakFelix-qr8uw 2 дня назад

      I should also mention the brilliance of the writing and the portrayal of Apollo Creed. Apollo is the opponent in the movie, but he is not the villain. Hopelessness, despair, the pressure of life is the villain. Apollo is merely Rockies opponent. Polly, Mickey, and Adrian at times are all opponents of Rocky. His perseverance brings them to his side.

    My personal favourite is the 1998 Original Batman Movie with Batman being played by Michael Keaton , The Joker Played By Jack Nicholson (The Joker I wouldn't like to meet down a dark hallway , but definitely my favourite Joker of all Batman Movies) and Kim Basinger as Viki Vale. Also I recommend watching and reacting to Batman Returns with Michelle Pfieffer as Catwoman, Michael Keaton as Batman again and Danny Devito playing the role of The Penguin (Best Penguin character on any Batman Movie imo and again like Jack Nicholson's " The Joker" , I wouldn't like to meet that Penguin character, especially with where he lives in Batman Returns aswell) Batman and Robin (1997) with Poison Ivy played by Uma Thurman (Best Poison Ivy ever imo), Mr Freeze Played By Arnold Scwarzenegger, George Clooney as The Batman , Chris O'donnell as Robin , Michael Gough as Alfred and Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl. If you like superhero movies then i also recommend Spider Man 1 , 2 and 3 aswell with Toby Maguire as SpiderMan and Kirsten Dunst as (MJ) Mary Jane Watson. Best spiderman movies ever in my personal opinion Being born in1989 i consider myself lucky enough to have being brought up with great TV Shows and Movies in the 1990's with The likes of " The Power Rangers ( The Movie)" which i recommend aswell as "Superman" played by Christopher Reeves and (TV Show) "The Adventures Of Superman" with Dean Cain as Superman and Teri Hatcher As Lois. They are all worth watching imo as they are all classic movies/ TV Shows.

A film I do recommend, however, is "The Perfect Game" (2009), which is a splendid and probably lesser-known film to most Brits that I think you'd both like, especially for its deeper message. I think all of us, the first time we saw Rocky, discovered that it wasn't the movie we thought it was. But something more complex, and more of a drama, than simply a boxing movie. The same goes for Saturday Night Fever, which comes to mind because it's from the same era and also has this background of Italian-American neighborhoods. I recommend that you see it. We have a superficial idea of what it can be from the typical scenes that we have seen over and over again but when you see the film you are very pleasantly surprised. By the way, kind of funny, since I mention Saturday Night Fever. Sylvester Stallone directed the sequel, Staying Alive.

It's such a fun movie about an older, very rich man that goes to collage to keep his son from dropping out and one cool parts about it is that Danny Elfman does a special appearance and sings one of his songs, Dead Man's Party, live with his band Oingo Boingo. Any how, that was fun watching along with you, as usual. Take care, guys.

    If the sound volume at the end of "Rocky" were better - your son would've liked the ending more. All first time "Rocky" viewers who are not boxing "afficionados" get confused and wonder "Who won?" That was true in 1976 and it's true now.

    I'm new so do you guys have a Patron, or whatever it's called, because I'd love to see more South Park episodes of you two? ..... just a heads up, season 6-7+ are the Good to Great to Amazing episodes, the beginning is just Meh or Okay some can be bad but it's the later episodes that are worth your times(Father and Son)..... ...Message to DAD.... South Park always pushes the buttons of Controversial Subjects but in a Truthful and Historically Accurate Way, that's why they've stayed so Relevant and Hilarious over the Decades! Maybe wait a little bit for your son to mature, but as an individual who watched South Park since I was little it taught me stuff, plus other movies/shows, of real life in an relevant and factual way where schools like to shelter and hide the truth instead of showing reality.

    12:37 My brother was killed when I was going through puberty and it truly threw me through a loop that I still haven't recovered from and even to this day, 7.5 yrs later, I still feel like I was abandoned but I now can acknowledge that he was taken away and didn't leave voluntarily but even knowing that it still doesn't help the pain. People say "Time fixes all wounds" not this, the only thing that changes is your Strength which makes this wound feel smaller but deep down it's still as hard hitting as day one. I recall watching a real ex boxer talk about the Rocky scenes with what is the right and wrong way to train for a boxing match and ge said a real boxer would never punch raw meat with your bare knuckles like that , because it can make your punches weaker, just like if you punch a punching bag without wearing boxing gloves, again it makes your punches weaker. I believe (as i have done a bit of boxing growing up) that is why when Adrian was helping heal Rocky's hands after he was punching the raw meat his hands were also shaking as it's not a normal for a boxer to don't that method of training as mentoined by the ex boxer i watched here on youtube talking about the right and wrong methods of training on boxing

    I am proud and very happy to still be supporting both of you and your youtube channel as a subscriber and liking your movie reaction videos , especially since your reacting to Rocky e.t.c. Thank you to both of you and and your son for taking the time to watch a real classic movie and watching / reacting to one of my favourite movies of all time " Rocky" , if you loved Rocky i am confident you will also love Rocky 2 , 3 possibly 4 , 5 and for certain Rocky 6. Please continue to watch the rest of the Rocky Movie saga. I guarantee you will fall in love with the Rocky movies and the relationship between mickey and Rocky , but most of all Rocky and Adrian's relationship(s) as the movies go on. I was very lucky to be introduced to the Rocky movies as a child as my uncle introduced me to Rocky 3 as i was a big , massive, huge boxing fan growing up throughout my childhood as i enjoyed watching and following real heavyweight legends and icons of boxing such as The Rock Rocky Marciano, The G.O.A.T. Muhammad Ali, Joe Fraiser, Iron Mike Tyson, Butterbean, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, George Foreman , Frank Bruno e.t.c. Therefore I was first introduced to Rocky 3 by my uncle who i bonded with and still do today over The Classic Rocky Movies and real life Boxing (especially over the real heavyweights I already listed though.) That is why Rocky 3 is my favourite movie of The Rocky Movie Saga, then Rocky 2, Rocky 6, Rocky 4, Rocky 1 and finally Rocky 5, Anyway I hope you both continue to watch rest of The Rocky Movie Saga together and I'm confident you will both enjoy it as the Rocky Movie Saga keeps going. It's a real inspiration and great for motivation, especially when you don't feel like exercising e.t.c. , it will make you feel motivated and inspire you to work out and probably make you feel like boxing lol 😆😁😃. I'm now 35 and still love watching The Rocky Movie Saga over and over again as it still really inspires and keeps me motivated today at 35 and probably will for the rest of life. Whenever life gets hard I think of Rocky 6 and Rocky's take on life which reminds me to keep going no matter how tough life gets and keep getting up whenever life tries to knock me down to quote Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) himself from Rocky Balboa (Rocky 6) "If you let it, life will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently, because no one hits as hard as life, but it ain't about how hard you hit it's about how hard you can get it and keep moving foward , that's how winning is done". I hope you both enjoy The rest of "The Rocky Movie Saga" and remember to keep punching your way through life and getting up no matter what it throws at you despite how hard life is or gets 🥊🥊. As you said it pulls you in slowly , well as the Rocky movie's keep going it will pull you in more and more and you might get rather emotional at certain parts, which is ok if you do show and express your emotions, especially watching and reacting to The Rocky Movie Saga.

    Nice reaction - this movie is much more relevant and for its time very realistic (although with ancient tech displayed nowadays). There are many philisophcial and ethical questions - but at the end nuclear war is not an option (just to qoute another good movie: Apollo 13)

    38:04 As a child I loved parts 3 and 4. As an adult I especially enjoy parts five and six, but also the first two parts much more than when I was a child.

    I think you would both really enjoy Rocky 2. It's almost as good as the first because it picks up right after the fight, so it's basically a continuation. It also manages to keep the heart that made the original so good.

    33:02 Very close, from 1975 to 2024, that is 49 years with the historical inflation that we would have had, instead of 100 dollars it would now be 326 dollars.
