Unboxing a Vintage Singer Sewing Machine, but Which One?
Hello my lovelies, I'm sorry it's been a while, if you watch to the end of the video you'll find out why.
Some years ago I realised that for some of my future ideas and projects, I would need a much tougher sewing machine than my plastic Singer franchise machine. After much research and watching of RUclips videos I found the 201k machine, it sounded ideal, electric, vintage, metal body and therefore metal parts, and heavy-duty, now just to find one!
Hope you enjoy the video, thank you for watching 💚

A Hint of Spring? Four Patch Quilt with Appliqué Pre-loved Hand Embroidery, A Flower Strewn Quilt
Просмотров 8386 месяцев назад
Hello lovely people, I hope you are all keeping well and getting through winter as best you can. I find January and February really tough months, so I thought why not think of spring and flowers and pretty things. I started planning this quilt over a year ago, I even filmed some of it. While doing a test piece I found that I really didn't like the first iteration of my design idea - test pieces...
Make a Practical and Pretty Crossover Strap Apron *Beginner Friendly*
Просмотров 4467 месяцев назад
Hi everyone, happy new year! I've got plans to do some messy stuff on fabric and I'm fed up of wearing old scruffy clothes, so how about making a practical and pretty apron? I've gone for a slightly high waisted apron with a full long gathered skirt and crossover straps and without fastening's or hardwear. It was not my intention to look like I was after a part in "The sound of music" but here ...
Gorgeous Oven Mitts/Gloves made from Vintage Tea Towels - A practical gift idea
Просмотров 7118 месяцев назад
Hi everyone, this is my third December video, there were going to be four but I've been really poorly. In this video, I show how to make an oven mitt that looks so neat and pretty. I first decided I would make some months ago and ordered 5 metres of special heat-resistant batting/wadding from the wholesaler I use. At some point, I'll send a link to the website so you can buy enough for one mitt...
Up-cycling Vintage Crochet Doilies into Snowflake Bunting | Making Christmas Ep. 2

Hi everyone, this video was supposed to go up last Sunday but the doilies didn't dry quick enough. Anyway in this video I experimented with stiffening crochet with PVA and water and made some super cute bunting for wintertime. I also had a go at making little dishes/baskets using the same method. The little doily bowl looks so nice as a way to pretty up some soap as a gift and is so easy to do....

Hello my lovelies, I love Christmas! There I said it. My Christmas is very particular to me and my family, I love our Christmas traditions, we don't put our tree up until about a week before, we always have a real tree and that's when we decorate any of the rest of the house too. Most of our presents to each other and friends are either homemade or second-hand, so the first few weeks of Decembe...
Quilting - How to Mitre Corners | Making a Quilt from One Range of Fabric

Hello my lovelies, I'm back with a quilting video for you this time. I don't often work with just one range of fabric, I mean let's be honest I don't often buy fabric at all 😂 but I saw this range and I thought my Mum would love it, I bought a metre each of the four fabrics thinking that would be loads. Roll on several years and I have no idea what the design was supposed to be so I thought it ...

Making a Last Minute Summer Dress from an Old Bedsheet

Hi everyone, I'm off on my travels and I decided I really needed it, well actually I wanted a new summer dress. I had to use what I had on hand as there just wasn't time to look for anything or go shopping. I bought the sheet on eBay last year with dress-making in mind and it was perfect for what I wanted, and it's green! I sort of draughted a pattern based on a very rough sketch of the dress I...

I am so excited for you. Not only are you able to have a solution for your health issues but you have a vintage Singer! Your repair man is going to be so thrilled to see your new machine. I was lucky this winter and got a 1946 Singer 201 and it was crusty and clearly had been in a shed or an old storage building for decades. When I took it to Steve (who also waxes poetic about vintage machines) and he unwrapped it, it was like being with a kid on Christmas day who got their favorite present. I am a new sewer and just finished my 5th quilt top and second complete quilt, all made on my Singer. Take care and enjoy. Looking forward to seeing what you make. Cheers from Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes (!) and hopefully the next VP of the US, Governor Tim Walz. And yes he is a down to earth as he appears. All the best to you Eleanor.

This is the best video instruction on this topic I've ever seen. I'm curious if this method was used for a quilt that was going to be used and washed often would the raw edges hold up or is there another way you would suggest doing it. Thank you for sharing your talents.

I know this is a 2 yr old video but I just stumbled upon this video. I am a beginner EPP. Just starting out playing around with making several different shapes and practicing sewing together a couple at a time. I have a lot to learn but have been completely mind blown by this video. I love the way you piece shapes together to make such beautiful pieces. I would love to see you do a video on how you choose your fabrics and how you envision your Kalidescope shapes. IT IS AMAZING!!! I have never seen anyone do EPP like this. I am not fond of the stereotypical Hexagon flowers. Thank you for such a wonderful video. WOW.

These are amazing machines. I have my granny’s 1937 201K that I learnt to sew on and it still sews beautifully. There’s a reason this model was called the Rolls Royce of sewing machines. I hope you quickly become best friends. I hope you get your procedure soon and are able to get back to sewing with a machine.

Oh my god that’s almost what I got. I have a 401 A singer and it came in a beautiful case like that, but my unboxing was insane. I could not get it done. I had to ask some neighbors to come help me to cut it open and the guy had packed it with carpet and paper bags and it was insane. It took like three days to get it out.

Hi Victoria, I got it from a seller on eBay, it's actually a special occasion fabric, I think the search I put in was green embroidered fabric, I do remember I ordered a sample first and that it was £40 per metre? I think? Even if that exact fabric is no longer available there are several sari shops on eBay and I think that's the best place to get this type of fabric, good luck

Thank you for this video. I have been quilting for years bit have never hand quilted a quilt. In tue beginning of your video, as you pulled out your templates you had what appeared to be a dragon wing. (I will admit that is why I clicked on your video 😆). Anyways do you have a video or pictures of a quilt you've done with that? I am intrigued.
