    The only throttle booster I trust is the BANKS throttle monster. Why do I say that? I did research and tried the device and it improved the truck a lot. As mentioned in your vid, not a lot of power with these trucks but improving the throttle response makes a nice, positive improvement. I had a 21 SR5 and now I have a 23 TRD OR. Awesome truck and if I had to compare this truck to a pistol, I’d say that a Tacoma is like a Glock, a G19 to be specific….. a gen 3 😉🫡

    I have a 2019 4X4 SR w/SX package and the v6. I have not had any real problems but at 102,000 miles I just replaced a rear u-joint and both lower ball joints. I have kept up on all fluid changes, brakes on the front at 60,000 and rear at 100,000. This is my 3rd Toyota pickup and totally love it except for the crazy, quirky transmission that many of us experience. I'm considering a ECU tune to try to fix the transmission shift patterns. I have gotten as high as 27 mpg but average 23 except when pulling our camper which takes it down to 12-13 mpg. One last comment....Dude clean that engine compartment.....lol.

    I have a 2017, and my steering wheel is the exact same...I also had the 3rd brake light water leak. Currently sitting at 150k with zero mechanical issues. One thing I'll say is the engine is an absolute dog, especially with the manual transmission. I feel like I'm beating it to keep up with traffic, but it still hasn't failed me, so I can't complain too much.

    That's a nice truck, man. I have a 2019 TRD Off Road that's running at 153,000 miles. Have had no problems with it. I use it for truck stuff as well, like hauling wood, towing trailers, and just going on some off road trails too. Mine is not modified in any way, all stock. Just put on some KO2's is all. But the truck is solid as heck still. All I've done is keeping up with the maintenance with oil changes, tire rotations, transmission fluid changes, differential fluid changes, and transfer case fluid changes. I've had 2 recall works done on it with the rear cab light seal replacement and the fuel pump, but those were covered by the recalls. Even though I never had issues with those things anyways. Other than that, I love how old school this truck is. I'm not a speed demon so the slowness to the truck doesn't bother me. Only when I need to pass vehicles on the highway do I feel the slowness, but I drive like an old person for the most part anyways so that doesn't bother me a lot. Lol. Fuel economy doesn't bother me because as some comments would put it, I'd rather pay more at the pump than at the shop. The years of refinement in this truck is paying off in how reliable it is now. So I'd rather take reliability than efficiency. I think I'm going to keep this truck up until the wheels fall off because I do not like how the new vehicles are overburdened with tech and all that. I don't mean to sound old but I don't trust all that tech. I love tech as much as the next person, but when it inhibits the driving experience and the feedback you would normally get from a vehicle is all automated, then that is when I get iffy about the vehicle. So my current Tacoma is such a breath of fresh air in how simple it is and how old school it is. It just sucks with the direction modern vehicles are going. I wish Toyota would continue selling the Tacoma's and 4Runners as is anyways. Like make it a legacy model line or something. Similar to how Ram does it with their Ram 1500 Classics, in which they still sell the older generation of the Ram 1500's, but brand new.

    There are more important things that can be addressed. How is the transmission? Many complaints on hunting for gears. Is towing worse for hunting gears? Where was it made? It'll tell you on the door jamb. Several people complained that the Mexico made trucks fit and finishes are not as nice.

    • @timbear3175
      @timbear3175 12 дней назад

      Transmission is fine, it does gear hunt when going over 70mph with a trailer, but never has given me issues. More of an annoyance than anything. My truck was made in Mexico.

    When I heard that the redesigned 24 Tacoma was going to have the 4cyl turbo, I decided to buy a 23 TRD Off Road, double cab, long bed with the Premium and Technology pkgs. I was looking in WA, ID, MT and OR. 23 came and went so I resolved to buying a used Tacoma. I looked at an access cab but it was the Gutless 4cyl and I needed a 6cyl and a 6’ bed. My salesman took us to their used truck area and there were a Lot of double cabs but only the 5’ bed. I explained that we had to have the V6 and the 6’ bed. He told me to wait because they had a leftover new 23 and it was having a hard Tri-Fold tonneau cover and running boards put on to try to entice someone to buy it. The dealership had owned it for 8 months but no one wanted it because it was a Long bed. The MSRP was $51,848. Our local dealership always puts a $1,995 dealership markup on ALL of their new vehicles. They removed the markup and gave me the tonneau cover and running boards, lowered the price to $48K, gave me an 8 year 75K mile bumper to bumper warranty and free oil and filter change and tire rotation for as long as I own the truck. Toyota says to change the oil every 10K miles but I’m oil school and change the oil every 5K miles. So I have to pay for an oil change every other time. We keep our vehicles for 15-20 years or 250K - 300K miles. I also change the front and rear differential, transfer case and transmission fluid every 30K miles. Every 4 years I change the power steering and brake fluid. Since I retired I drive 6-8K miles per year, so it’s safe to say that my 23 TRD will be the last vehicle that I’ll ever own and after I die I’m quite sure that my wife will still be using my TRD to plow our road and driveway to clear the 5-7 feet of snow we get every winter. Both of our vehicles are washed, dried, clay bared and Ceramic waxed 2Xs per year and the engine bay and interior are cleaned and detailed 2Xs per year as well. I’m an absolute maintenance freak. This is why our vehicles last as long as possible. Vehicles are Not an investment and we’re very much aware of this. We would rather drive our vehicles for a long time and invest our money into things that appreciate in value. When our vehicles wear out, we have the money set aside to pay cash for its replacement. I never thought that I’d pay the ridiculous amount for any vehicle that I did on my Tacoma, but again it’s the last pickup that we’ll ever have to buy. I’m sure in another 10-15 years we’ll have to replace my wife’s 2019 Outback (currently only 35K miles). We’ll probably replace it with another Outback unless Toyota adopts Subaru’s symmetrical AWD system for their vehicles.

    That rust @ 13:21 is probably coming from underneath 😮 not from the top. Craw under the truck and pop off any plugs and look inside. Inspection cameras (long thin wired camera lens) are now inexpensive. Applying a undercoat would be advised in your region. You will need to push down on the tab of the wiring harness with a screwdriver and pull the plug off with a pair of pliers. They are stuck on there pretty good.
