I like this setup for kayaks. One of the things I like is the quick removal and install, but would worry thieves might target them for this reason. Any ideas on a way to secure/lock them down?
Yeah that’s a valid concern I have as well. It would depend on your kayaks and if they have any pre drilled holes in the plastic to run a bike cable lock thru them. If so, you could just loop and lock them to the bed bars. Mine don’t have anywhere to run a cable thru so I just always try to park in a visible spot if I have them on the truck. Next summer I’ll prob drill a hole near the cup holders to loop a cable lock thru. Valid concern! Good luck to ya
Nope. I run 2 straps per yak around them and make sure they’re tight every time I stop for gas. Never had an issue. Longest I’ve went with them so far was 8 hours at 75 mph average with no problems or movement

The longer kayak Might hit the top of the truck but they will handle any size kayak. Vicid racing makes these in a 21 inch tall version that clears the top of the truck, I would go with that one instead of what I have which is the 17 inch. That will work no problem. Do you need to strap the front or rear down to prevent the kayaks from shifting forward or back when accelerating or stopping hard?
Nope. I run 2 straps per yak around them and make sure they’re tight every time I stop for gas. Never had an issue. Longest I’ve went with them so far was 8 hours at 75 mph average with no problems or movement
Where did you get the J-style kayak holders? All the ones I find say "does not fit round bars"

This is the link to the one a have. Not sure if it’s rated for circular bars but it works perfect
What kayak carrier did you purchase?

Do you think I can put 2 j racks 4 kayaks on the bars?
Probably not, might be too tight of a fit. I would get a latter rack with a wider crossbar length if your hauling more than 2 yaks. Good luck!
Thank you and thanks for the reply😀
Do you think this work with a 13.5 ft kayak?

What kayak mode is that gray one?
If you meant what brand, it’s a Ozark Trail.
Was that US prices or Canadian? :)

@@timbear3175 Ouch..ok..lol
Yeah they’re still pretty pricy. I tried looking at ladder racks and they were pretty much the same price range too. Good luck
Can you please send me the web site and the item number or precise description of the bars?
The info and link to the webpage should be in the description
@@timbear3175 thank you
