    I have a question what wood are you using for the frame?

      These panels I used 2x2 inch wood to build the panel frames. Thanks for watching!

      @ Thanks for answering my question and I love your videos, I have one more question? What type of wood is it? Pine? Or?

    What was your technique for cutting out those notches to fit around the bracing? Any tools that make it cleaner or easier?

    • @soundheadquarters
      @soundheadquarters 21 час назад

      I used a rockwool insulation knife which is very similar to a serrated bread knife. Then I just scored about 3/4 inch in and then across the width to take out the extra material so the insulation can sit flat. Doesn’t need to be the prettiest cut since it will never be seen, but wear a mask/respirator for sure while cutting the insulation. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for this video, very interesting. Question; is there a big difference between square and triangle bass traps in terms of performance in corners? I assume square is more volume so better?

    • @soundheadquarters
      @soundheadquarters 5 дней назад

      I think depending on how much space you’re willing to give up in the corners, the squares are a good option to take advantage of that added volume of absorption. That was the rationale for this particular client, to have something lower profile that wouldn’t take up as much floor space. Thanks for watching!

    A year ago, one of your videos on acoustic panels sparked a complete reimagining of my recording studio in South Africa. Inspired by your passion, I shut down in October 2023 to rebuild new acoustic panels, upgraded outboard gear, and an entirely fresh setup. I’m relaunching in January/February 2025, and I can’t thank you enough for the impact you’ve had. Your dedication has set a new standard. Thank you!

    While you're work is admirable and very professional, this booth excludes the many recording enthusiasts and beginners that don't have the resources, DIY skills, or even the room to build this. 0:58 'relocated by the electrician later on'. I need to hire an electrician? 1:12 Sonopan X will break the bank - any other materials that are less expensive? 2:08 'the client's garage' - so this is a professional job, one that the client can't undertake by themselves? 3:26 '..so that the electrician can re-locate that light'.. that electrician again - he'll have a big pay day! - can't you do something a little more DIY? 4:05 '.. and I've got Christian helping out today' - so it's at least a two-man job? 4:14 More Sonopan X?? This is getting into Abbey Road territory - the budget I'm talking about. Etc, etc.. Overall I'd say there's around 5 different skills going on here. Thankfully you have the video going at about 4 x playback speed - nice and speedy? Lol.. Want a quick and inexpensive booth to help launch your recording enthusiasm? Get some PVC piping and make a frame (you can buy interlocking PVC corners). Place frame on top of couple of rugs, cover frame with load of old towels (buy from charity shops) cover towels with continental quilts - Bob's your uncle. Great job, btw.

    Looks great! I've built 7 of the wall panels so far. I've experimented and found cloth landscape fabric with a old bedsheet for the back and 2 layers of sheets for the front. Then i cover the front with a nice burlap. All this is a precaution for retaining the rockwool fibers. Nasty stuff. It's a lot of work but so far I've only paid for the insulation and the burlap. I've had everything else or i go to estate sales for the fabric. Being a carpentry contractor helps as well.

    Exactly what I needed. I appreciate the inspiration. From contractor to contractor… If this isn’t your house, you really need to hook up a shop vac to that miter saw, and at least throw some cardboard down so you’re not using a finished floor as your work bench. If I walked in and saw you doing this in a finished room with dust sensitive instruments nearby, I would send you home.

    the only absorption I can see is on the ceiling, the room is not very big.. why do you need a diffuser? and a massive one... diffuser should be used when the room is dead and you should sit a few meters away from it.. putting a big diffuser in a small room where you have a lot of wood and not a lot of absorption seems wired to me but the diffuser looks very cool! I wonder if it's not better to build 4 smaller ones and put them with a bit of space between them.. (in general not speaking just for this room) anyways cool project keep it up

    It would be maybe even better if the drop ceiling frame could be sprayed black to get the consistent back sky effect, but that would require to take either all panels out or section by section to spray the frame. I do understand if this could not or cannot be achieved. Overall, this is hard work already and great result!👍
