Has anyone tried running a couple pumps and can you get them to run in anti-sync; I’d like to put one on either side of a tank and have them alternate which is pushing
I noticed they already have a dmp-m model that adds bluetooth and wifi. Any idea if that means they can be controlled remotely?
@@davidhahn79 All of mine are Bluetooth only. Hadn’t seen the WiFi version.
Hi, what is the lenght of the dry side ? Please .if possible in centimeters. Best Regards.
Thank you for great video, where can we buy the interceptor without rx, it is hard to find??
This comment is not related to this video per se. But it’s about the pumps in general. I ordered a QMP 30. Put it in my tank. But the magnet isn’t strong enough to hold the pump in place. It’s supposed to work on glass 19 mm thick but it doesn’t. Just a warning to everyone.
Ah, you mean DMP-30. So on 3/4” glass, a DMP-30 does not hold via magnetism alone? Got it. Did the suction cups not help? My DMP-10 doesn’t have the magnetism to go through my nano tank’s glass, which is thick glass for a nano. However, the suction cups render the magnetism void. After I used the zip-tie bracket on the cord, the suction cups + magnets were plenty strong to keep those wavemakers in place.
@ I didn’t use the zip ties, I’ll try that. The wet side seems to hold with the suction cup assistance but when I got home the dry side was on the floor
@ Yeah, I’d use the little plastic bracket and zip ties in the box. Attach them to the cord and hang the cord above the dryside. It keeps it flush to the glass for me.
oh shieeet so they cloned vortechs, thx for video, will try to order a gift for my self :D
That would be a sand Tire or a paddle tire😂
LOL can you tell I’m a seasoned expert when it comes to vehicles? 🤣
Nice review!
@@RobBzReef Thank you, sir!

I was looking at this about a week ago. Tbf it was only about £20. But by the time I’d added postage to the uk it was £40..I’m just going to wait untill someone adds the file to thingiverse and I’ll 3d print one
Thanks Mr ambassador for the amazing review . That guard design is stunning
@@Malick_ibn_dinar Very cool. The 3D community always blows my mind. These dudes are wizards!
I was planning to buy a wave maker for my newly set up 20long. Thanks for sharing/posting this video. On a side note, how do you like the light? I was thinking about picking up a nicrew 100/150 also.
Really love the light. It’s been excellent. Just got some fresh corals for that tank and they’re thriving.
@@kalamazoo_reefer nice👍
Are the propeller guards interchangeable between the Jebao dmp10 and the Ecotech mp10? As in: could I use a nem guard designed for the mp10 on my dmp10?
@@HairyReefFrog likely not, because the VorTech and DMP cages actually twist off in different directions.
One method I've used is the first mechanical method, but also have a small siphon hose and small net to suck up the bubbles. A helper is useful for that.
Since you seem to have tried out most sizes of these pumps, what size would you use on a 90 gallon(48"x18"x24") reef? Mostly LPS with a few easy SPS(montis, pocillopora, and stylo.)
@@davidhahn79 I’ve tried them all. I own all 4 iterations now. Haha! In my opinion, you’d be best rolling with 3-4 DMP-30s. I think the 30 is the strongest entry in this lineup. I run two 30s on one end of my 80 gallon, and a -40 on the other end. If I could do it again, I’d go with four 30s. Two on each end. The 30 just feels ridiculously solid in all aspects to me. The 40 is fine. I just have a preference for the 30 because it feels so dang solid all around.
@@kalamazoo_reefer Thanks. I ordered a 30. I want to try it out. I'm thinking of two on the side close to the wall, and either an eow or crossflow vertically on the backwall of the other side so I can keep that side view clear.
I came here after you last podcast episode. Im trying to decide between this lights or Quantas
@@Moreysreef Totally depends on what you’re looking to do. What kind of coral will you be growing, and how big is the tank?
Beautiful tank…what size he is? Liters/gallons?
I have been keeping a reef for almost a year now and I don’t don’t care what the name of it is as well just get what I like. I have been to 3 shows this year love them get such good deals
The crew were all Portuguese. Sebastian said that.
With your monti cap placement in 3-6 months they will be shading all your corals below them
hey there Kalamazoo! loved loved loved this video. you and i speak the same language/same important things such as narrow vs width of the flow iteself, etc. you spoke about 3D printed attachments you can add to make a flow pattern wider? can you perhaps show me an example of what one of those 3d printed objects looks like? like even a link to one if you would please? i sure would appreciate seeing what one of these attachments might look like? Thanks! -Lisa. ps- i have been all in on Jebao for 10 years with no issues!!
i wish they had 0-10v control too
On that struggling monti, would it be wise to clip that piece off? Ps your tank is looking great. The Corals will outgrow the tank soon. Any plans for a bigger tank in the future?
Maybe. If I clipped it, it wouldn’t be a clean clip (I’ve just got bone cutters), so I’d leave more exposed coral in the process. I’m letting it ride for the moment. If it grows algae on it, I’ll clip it as best I can. No plans for a bigger tank yet, but in the distant future, I’m sure I’ll upgrade to a 6-7 footer. Gotta let my kid grow up some first, though. It’ll take more time to maintenance a beast like that!
Dude my apple jacks montipora is growing like crazy, those corals are great. Some of these names crack me up for these corals.
The names are so wild lol I can’t keep track. My brain just rejects the chaos.
New too the channel And I just subscribed!
Welcome, friend! Thanks for hopping on board! I won’t promise the most top quality video content on the internet, but I absolutely try to be honest and get videos out regularly. 😂
Tank's looking great.
I’m super happy with it man. It’s cruising along!
What size aquarium?
Really like your light spectrum , it makes the fish pop and it’s different from the blue spectrum , you usually see
I prefer a much more “daylight spectrum” aquarium. I run ReeFi Uno 2.0 Pros and Quanta Pro bars. The ReeFi lights are quite deep-hued, but I chose the “Tropic Sun” variety of the Quanta Pro bars, and those have a super bright daylight spectrum. I really enjoy the combination of the two lights.
@@kalamazoo_reefer thanks I’ll look into those lights
Not a video about jebao dmp, talks 1/2 of the video talking about his love of the jebao dmp.
Hahahaha get outta here! I’m such a gearhead. I barely know the names of my own coral.
😂😂😂😂 He is the Jecod DMP RUclips’s ambassador
@ Lol I’m all over it!
Hey just an fyi...Reefbuilders just pulled the DMP pump review down due to "legal review"
@ lol this DMP is making a lot of noise 😂
Looking good brother! I'm digging the new additions! Like you, I've never been good at remembering industry coral names nor do I care very much. To each their own I guess.. Hope all is well!
All is well! You hanging in there?
@@kalamazoo_reefer Just chugging along as always. Slowly fixing issue after issue with my tank until one day, it will be dialed in. One day.. sigh
Coral names sound a lot like 🍃 strains. Can’t wait to add my Starry Rainbow Mega Bubble Blast Sacred torch coral to my AIO.
It is altogether too much for me to keep track of. I have enough of my brain taken up by all the names of reefing gear and lines. I just want pretty corals that I can grow. Lol.
Interesting video, question. Can I permanently keep my waive maker connected to the back up battery and it.will run on battery during a power outage?
@@macy17250 Yep. Check pinned comment!
Would be much better if you used a 12V to 24V booster and skip the inverter loss. I’d be interested in seeing the results with such a setup!
Interesting, but not something I’d personally go for, as this performance is excellent for me, and I like to keep things as direct and simple as I can with backup.
Wonder how long a return pump, say for 75 gallon tank, would run on a eco flow max generator? Maybe enough to not even bother with the flow power heads… just enough to keep tank stable during blackouts. Cheaper setup than an mp10 WITHOUT the ecotech backup.
What wattage would this return pump be running at, do you think?
@@kalamazoo_reeferNot sure exactly… depends on the pump you’ve got, but if you’re running pump just enough to keep chemistry stable temporarily power usage may not be that much🤔. Telegram probably already tried this just for kicks!
@ I’ve tried it myself. That’s why I wondered if you had a max draw wattage in mind hahah.
The Dmp 20 is it 12 or 24 volt ?
24V.
@ thanks 🙏
Does a DMP-10 wetside work with the MP10 dryside?
Sure does.
U can fix with air tube on impeller
Throw me some more detail.
Been trying to watch all the videos now that you have more then 1 have you figured out if they can be anti synched to each other. Not sure how to say it but linked so left pump runs for 20 minutes then turns off and triggers right one to turn for 20 sort of thing. Without manually programming them both
@@brockkirschenmann9711 Planning to get into that soon. It’ll probably come near the end of the series, when I rotate all these wavemakers fully onto my tank for good. Right now, doing a lot of comparative testing and accessory testing. So so much to get through. It’s a mountain. Sorry for the delay on that.
I was having that noise issue and have started trying to fix it. Just made it unbearably worse. The noise is from the dry side. I can hear it anywhere in the room at the lowest setting. I will keep trying but I’m nervous this one may be unusable. I have a DMP 20 on the way because I thought it may be quiet to run a larger one at a lower setting.
I always size up and run lower speeds. Less wear on the wavemaker. But the -20, -30, and -40 haven’t exhibited this sound challenge for me, even at higher speed settings. Hope yours quiets down with time.
Sporadically, I get the same kind of noise from my mp40 after I clean them. The problem is often that the wet and dry sides are not aligned properly.
Bro has a generator to keep that aquarium working 😂imagine how cautious he is 😂
Someday, I’ll do a video on all my battery backups for each tank. Those units are the small ones. Lmao.
what tank is that?
@@tmontana6715 IM25 lagoon!
I got the DMP10 and it made the noise at first. I was extremely frustrated. Especially because your other video posted a couple weeks ago insisted that it’s dead silent. But after making micro-adjustments, my 10 is dead silent. I put the wetside on first and then line up the dryside, looking eye-level with the edges of the wet/dry side so the circles are in just the right spot. I don’t think it matters the rotation and mine doesn’t need support from the cord. That looks ratchet tbh. Good information though. More podcast pls ty!
Boom! I love it! This is exactly what I found, as well. I was hoping someone else had the same experience to share. Thank you for sharing! And yes, I need to crank out another podcast episode. It’s been a crazy semester for me. I’ll get to it! Just spread thin at the moment 😂
Still wondering if the DMPs will sync with each other. I think that I am going to get at least one, but syncing would seal the deal for me.
@@GwonkReefkeeping There is a function for it in the app, but I need to test it out. I’ll get there. Doing my best, friend!
@kalamazoo_reefer Thanks 👍🏾
Thanks for the heads up 😊 maybe the thinner the glass the better .
If I had to guess, I’d say 1/4” glass is the sweet spot. I misspoke in the video. My glass is 3/8” thick, and the magnet is a little weak for that, but it still holds fine.
@kalamazoo_reefer Very valuable information ! Thank you. 😀
Have 2 ecotech mp10’s on 1/2 inch waterbox glass and they’re just enough to hold on, but definitely had to fine tune position of wet side to keep both sides synced properly. Otherwise they would flutter or even completely separate when I turned up the rpm’s… reaching the limits of the magnets is not fun.
@ Yeah, 10’s on half inch being a struggle makes sense. Heck, VorTech MP10’s can’t hold on at 1/2”. They fell off for me, back when I ran them. Had to rig them up to not fall off.
So I have 6mm glass roughly 1/4 inch . I actually think the glass is too thin I increased the spacing on the wet side so it's further away from the glass and it's almost dead silent. It is basically sitting on top of the rubber suction cup holder
My seller just told me that jecod/jebao wont be selling these anymore. to specify the dmp-10
I’ll believe that when I see it, frankly. Not doubting you. Doubting that specific seller.
Thank you for doing such thorough investigations on these wavemakers!
@@barelyreefer I have way more to come. When I am through, it will be a ridiculously comprehensive series.
@kalamazoo_reefer Sweet. Looking forward to watching them

FWIW - it’s actually 3/8” glass, I believe. My bad!
Can you tell me how long the outer part is? I don't have much space between the wall and the aquarium.
Have you ever tested a VorTech MP 10 on this battery backup or a similar 12 volt wave maker ? If yes how long did they last ?
I can do so quite easily!
@ I’m asking because I’ve a cheap battery backup that reefdork suggested and it can deliver power for my mp10 for over 24 hours
I wish there were mounting options for the original quanta lights instead of laying on the tank. Mounting from the ceiling isn’t an option for me 🤦♂️I’m using the Reef flare mount that attaches to the tank.
I have the Quanta Pro, are you talking about the very first gen, prior to the pro version?
@ yes, not the helix version or dimmable.
