Hey, we're a couple who quit our jobs to try and travel around the world on a budget!
We're currently on an adventure backpacking through south east Asia.
We both had a burning desire to see as much of our beautiful planet as we possibly could and made it our number one ambition to turn our dream into a reality. It's hard but we think we're slowly doing it. Neither of us come from wealthy backgrounds and we have to grind to make it happen.
We wanted to share our journey, mainly for our own enjoyment - but there is also the added incentive of trying to prove that you really can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.
We could never have dreamed that the prospect of travelling around the world without a huge amount of money was possible, but we're out to show that it is. And hopefully we can inspire you to do it too!
Please come along for the ride with us!

Is the Lan Ha Bay cruise BETTER than Ha Long Bay? Honest review! ⛴️🇻🇳
Is Lan Ha Bay in Vietnam a perfect - or even better - alternative than Ha Long Bay?
We went on a bucket list luxury cruise to experience one of the truly most jaw-droppingly beautiful places in the world.
Everything we do is on a tight budget - but this is one thing we treated ourselves to. It cost $175 each, including our minibus transfer from Hanoi to the terminal.
We booked onto the Rosy Cruise, sailed around the bay, went kayaking, visited the famous bright cave and gazed in awe at the UNESCO World Heritage Site landscape.
Areas of the bay even feature in the King Kong: Skull Island movie.

19:18 Christmas day isn't a big deal in Denmark, we celebrate Christmas eve, not really Christmas day. Sure we lounge around since it's a holiday and we try to stick around family as much as we can, but Dec. 25th is remarkably unremarkable.
Pretty much every city, village and municipality in Norway is basically just a cut out in the forrest. You're never far from amazing experiences in the Norwegian nature.
Finland isn't in Scandinavia. Sweden, Norway and Denmark belong Scandinavia, but not Finland.
Gostei muito do review. Muito obrigada por compartilhar sua experiência conosco
Helsinki for me personally was very disapointing! But if you are there you can Crusoe with a ferry to Tallinn. Tallinn >>>Helsinki
Yeah we did exactly that but in reverse. We were in Tallinn before and took the ferry across. Estonia is amazing! :)
Although many visit Hki looking for nordic beauty, i find Hki and Finland extremely boring, expensive, rude, cold, swampy.
Seems like there are very few people Christmas market, and at what exact time were you there? And how's the situation in the bars, are young people having fun?
@@QuickKickFootball2023 the Christmas market is fairly busy most of the time and it all depends on where you go in terms of the bars. But plenty of places to go and have a good night out in Riga! 😀
Nice video. It's really easy to take this view for granted. We live nearby and often drive past there. Next time I do this winter, I will try to look around a bit more than usual, and remember what you said about this.
@@nilsen39 aww yeah, that’s so true. We all take for granted the places we live… it’s totally normal. But we are so happy we reminded you how beautiful your home is 🥰
Awesome video. Me , husband and kids are going there in end of November. We will spend a few days in Helsinki, Saariselka and then Rovaniemi. My son is very much interested to learn about the Sami tribe. Do you have any recommendations where I can take my son to learn about the culture of Sami tribe?
@@Florence-s1z aww I hope you have a lovely time together. Great place for families to go! We don’t know so much about the Sami tribe - but the library in Helsinki where we visited would probably be well worth a visit! I’m sure they would help you 😀
Well, that was interesting. Generally, the overnight 3D/2N cruises, at least, do both Ha Long and Lan Ha Bays. I did one of those in November, 2023, and we were accompanied by no fewer than 17 or 18 similar 40-60 passenger vessels. In short, one's as busy as the other. If you want a better shot at solitude, I'd recommend the less well-known Bai Tu Bay. However, my experience was so dismal, I'd recommend people avoid overnight cruises and take a day cruise instead.
@@mrc6182 I think it’s definitely luck of the draw from what we’ve heard and people we’ve spoken to!
I'm going food delivery to Modalen and taking the road to Modalen. But seeing it from the sea is quite amazing.
@@Grimjar wow, that must be a nice drive 👌
Truly one of the best Christmas market videos I've ever seen. Think, I'll be going to Riga this December!!
@@SandyKH aww thank you so much, what a lovely thing to say. And you should go, it’s stunning. Definitely still one of the fave places we’ve been 😍
Love your video. It was so helpful. I am going in December.
@@anniethealchemist amazing, enjoy! It’s such a beautiful city and Latvia in general is a great country ☺️
So beautiful country and your video! Maybe I will just visit at springtime instead.
@@pinkvelvet3865 thank you 🙏 haha yeah it may be easier with less snow… but we just love winter vibes. Having said that, we cannot wait to return to Norway in spring and summertime 😍

This city is beautiful I been living here for the past year I moved from the uk to Norway it’s beautiful especially during winter btw nice video I love how filmed it
@@MohamedAbdi-v9o thank you so much. That’s so cool, how are you finding living in Norway? ☺️
Since you're British i really can't resist the urge to tell you why so many of the old brick buildings are painted/plastered (and why many building have rounded corners). We have "your" admiral Lord Nelson to thank for that little detail. He decided to firebomb Copenhagen in order to get the King to surrender his fleet, in what was an unprecedented terror attack on civilians. A lot of the city burned down because fire brigade couldn't get their fire engines around corners in the narrow streets. When city was rebuilt reusing charred bricks from the fire, the buildings got rounded corners and were painted and plastered to conceal the fire damage.
Wow, that's fascinating history, thank you! (Although I'm not sure we can be linked to Lord Nelson 😂)
Does she not want to be filmed? Seems like she's either annoyed or has a very flat affect whenever she speaks. The guy's energy is great. Keep the camera off the sour puss. 11:30 she's rolled her eyes for the last time (at me). Ciao!
i live in bergen, norway. thanks for the kind words! very happy that you had such a good time! :) and, there is always something with the trains. XD
That's so cool, hopefully one day we can live in Bergen too, it's our dream! Haha, don't we just know it, train trouble follows us around... 😅
Can you please tell me whether January is a good time to visit Norway. I would love to experience this beautiful country however, January is the only time I have time off.
@@debbiedarcy904TLDR: yes, but check the weather and plan (and DRESS) accordingly. depends on where in norway, but it's usually pretty cold unless you're here in the summer months. but if you are prepared for cold and rain/snow, (which some people are, because they live in a contry were those are rare or non-existent.) then yes, january is good time to visit.
@ if you like beautiful snowy winters, then yes 😀
Perhaps you already knew, but "Korketrekkeren" means "the Corkscrew". And by the way, the last "e" in both this word and "Frognerseteren" is silent. So, pronounced more or less like i.e. "Frognerset-earn". Or, to be exact, with a Norwegian "æ"-sound. Actually like the "a" in English "fancy"😂
Haha that's cool, what a perfect name for it :) such an awesome place. Ohh nice, we shall pronounce it right from now! So hard to adapt to the quirks of different languages!
Congratulations on the nice video! We were in Tallinn in August many years ago, we will go back for the next Christmas holidays, I think it will be beautiful. I saw some footage taken with a drone, is it allowed to fly in Tallinn? Are there any permits to apply for? Thank you congratulations again for the video Marco and Claudia
thank you! Ahh what a perfect time to go, we love winter so Christmas time was magical in Tallinn. It will depend on how heavy your drone is - ours is just 249g so it's technically a "toy" and makes life easier when it comes to flying it :) Check this page out for the details: www.transpordiamet.ee/en/aviation-and-aviation-safety/flying-drones-estonia
Advice for future tourists. If you have to travel South and you want to see the whole street, go by train. It's an experience by itself. Take a slow moving one with built-in-restaurant, and just watch the scenery as you go by, a sleeper train works too but even better is with a train that have a back balcony. Remember to choose the right station though.
Great advice! We were lucky to take a train out of Hanoi and see the street this way too :)
Bergen 💛
We love it 🧡
In quale giorni siete andati esattamente?
This was around December 18th to 19th :)
BEST VIDEO EVER!
thank you aha :)
The hype, OMG.
The slope Korketrekkeren is in the same path that the bobsledding competition from Olympics in 1952.
Yeah, so cool!! :)
We are convinced!
Haha you will not regret it!
Great video! Me and ny wife are going in December and can't wait! Do you think thermals are a must? I've heard conflicting advice. Some people say the shops and restaurants are really warm so layers may be better others say thermals all the way.
Hey, we wore thermals throughout our time in the Baltics/Nordics/Scandinavia. We would say thermals/under layers are essential. You can always take your big coats and jumpers off inside and be just fine :). Better to take clothes off inside than be cold outside... and wear hiking boots for the snow haha!
I'm planning on going over there for New Years
great choice! :)

I am Vietnamese 🇻🇳 What is your nationality? Do you love Vietnam? Because every time I meet foreigners in Vietnam, I feel very happy and proud, so not just once but I invite you to come explore Vietnam many times. 😀🇻🇳😉
We are from the UK and we absolutely LOVE Vietnam. It holds such a special place in our hearts. Beautiful scenery, beautiful people and amazing food. You should be so proud of your country, it's incredible! We cannot wait to come back to Vietnam again! :)
My husband and I always visit Tivoli on Boxing Day as it’s my birthday so this is a beautiful end of a birthday celebration. This year sadly we won’t go there as we have moved to Spain but I guess we’ll find something to do.
Which cruise company did you use?
We booked through fjordtours :)
Solneset farm is not far from where you can hike to Bergen tallest mountain Gullfjellet :)
We cannot wait to do this hike when we return to Norway :)
Its also quite close to «espeland fangeleir» wicch is a prison camp where the germans had prisoners during ww2. it was buildt in 1942 and is the only german prison camp still left in norway. I would recomend visiting if you Are interested in that kind of history.

We read about this a little while ago. What an absolute travesty. A truly beautiful building! Thank you for your kind comment :)
Did u get any travelers insurance?
Yeah we have travel insurance!
Since u are proving u can travel neither 7000 pounds for who knows how long do u think u could tell us how much u saved how much u spend on the airport hotel etc. Tell us about the prices u spent.
As a 71 yr USA female recently widowed I’ve got the explorèr breath. Please tell us how u manage the finances. Like with debit cards, mobile wallets, wise? What kind of lockable bags etc do u use? And when u go swimming how do u protect ur stuff?
Aww bless you! We are super tight with our budget - we use Starling bank as it doesn't charge international transaction fees (there are banks in the US which offer similar!) We have a small shoulder bag each that we keep valuables in and it's almost impossible to rip off. We use padlocks on our main bags. When we swim, we normally would only have a limited amount of things with us - and either take it in turns or have our stuff within eyesight!
How long do u hope to travel for in Asia with the 7000 pounds?
I wish u would leave the info on your place u stayed at. I’m 70 and will be traveling alone and on a budget
It was called Vitamin Home Hoàn Kiếm 35 - very reasonable price wise and fantastic location in the Old Quarter :)
I live in Menton. Glad you like it, as you tourists, keep the place alive. The reality for residents, is as you would imagine, different. All that said, for a family it is a nice place to chill. One hint, always ask for a French language menu; otherwise you might pay a tad more in your native tongue.
Thank you so much for your kind comment. And that's so true, living in a place is always so different to visiting. I imagine Menton is still a special place to call home though. PS thank you for the tip!!
Hi there! Would you share, what is the current situation in your area ( let's say between Nice and Imperia in Italy) for jobs in all sectors? I'm an EU citizen and I speak only Italian for the moment, so think to relocate in the italian part while I learn French to move to Nice later...
I have difficulty wrapping my head around how radically different we see the world. When in Oslo, you are awed by the nature in the city. It makes me appreciate what we have here in Norway more. When in Oslo, I am shocked by the urban impact on nature. It makes me despair on how far the urbanization of the rest of the planet has come. It's terrifying. The world would probably be a much better place if everybody had a chance to live in nature the way we do.
You should definitely be thankful for how beautiful Oslo's surrounding nature and Norway in general is. It's such a stunning country, we are so jealous haha! It's our dream to live in Norway one day. We agree 100% about the world being a better place if we all embraced nature more
