    Hi Layne. Another excellent and relaxing video! One November, my wife and I (then living in Cumming,GA) drove up to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway north from Cherokee. However, it was closed in places, so we drove up to the Clingman's parking lot and walked up to the tower. There was a light coating of snow there, and we had it to ourselves! Thank you for your excellent and informational hiking videos. I look forward to many more. Also, I appreciate your using the term "blessing", as the Lord does bless when we are out in His beautiful Creation. On my channel, I have a series called "Walking in Creation" that shows what I've walked thus far on the AT. God Bless!!

    Thank you so much for this video. So many hiking videos on RUclips are about the hiker or hikers “conquering” the trail. In other words, the hike is a challenge to be overcome rather than an opportunity to experience and learn. The quote at the start of the video assured me that the purpose of your hike would be to experience rather than to conquer.

    • @LayneComfort
      @LayneComfort 13 дней назад

      Thanks for this comment Gregg. Every trek into the wilderness is an opportunity to learn. I think those of us who really spend time out deep know that there is no conquering these areas. They’ve been there long before I was born and will remain long after I’m gone.

    Hi Layne. Very much enjoyed this view of the Fires Creek Rim area. I lived in Cumming, GA for 22 years, and always intended to go there. Appreciate your great video that allows me to see what it is like. Glad the thunderstorm and wind wasn't worse than expected. I've not hiked the Chunky Gal trail. Have you hiked it further past where you parked? I've seen its intersectdion with the AT, and (again) wished I'd have hiked it. You do a great job of narration and filming, and your showing the map at the end of each day is very impressive. Keep up the great work. God bless!

  • @keekeemyfirstcat8410

    I've heard the trails are not clearly marked and would not make the hike alone knowing that wolves, cougars and bears are in the Idaho Mountains.

    • @LayneComfort
      @LayneComfort 28 дней назад

      I found the navigation was no issue there on the main loop and the side trails I explored but YMMV. Wolves & black bear provide no real danger and lions little. The most dangerous part of this adventure was driving before & after which is statistically much more likely to cause catastrophe than spending time in the wilderness.

      Shoot, one more thing I meant ask; how was the overnight parking there? Kind of sketchy, or pretty legit? To hike the same trail, we have parked on the Wislon Creek side (south of the area you entered), near Mortimer. As we have only day hiked it, I wasn't sure about overnight parking at the trailhead parking areas. Was there a parking pass or?
