      Definitely the cows. LOL. Seriously though a toss-up between the cat and Billy. Happy trails to you.

      The cows lol! Getting to see the goat up close definitely elevated it, the kitty was so far away

    Loved the video. It brought back so many memories from time I spend with my dad at those lakes when I was a kid. Thanks.

      @@LayneComfort might run into you on the trail sometime, you never know. I live and backpack in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Also hike a lot of trails in the region, including the AT. Been hiking for over 67 years. Heading out west this fall to get some bucket list stuff down.👍

    Wow! What a special trip! Rename the title to, "I snuck up on a mountain lion, and renamed a lake!"

      That wasn't a trout, it was a Buluga Whale!

    Layne, outstanding video, such beautiful views and lakes! I've heard of hikers avoiding a mountain lion but never one stalking it! Thanks for taking us with you!

    What a nice watch, that mountain goat was probably considering walking up to you to get a good salt lick

    • @LayneComfort
      @LayneComfort  11 дней назад

      It was certainly considering something but it would’ve gotten a good salt kick instead

      That lion was something else. Man there was some nice looking fish out there! Should've brought a raft and rod

    The nice thing about that map is that it doubles as a ground cover. #multiuse So sweet you saw a mountain lion, definitely worth it even if the paranoia sets in afterwards. As I was driving out of Joshua Tree last month, a mountain lion ran across the road - probably the highlight of that trip for me, even if it was from the car!

    • @LayneComfort
      @LayneComfort  7 месяцев назад

      The map was my backup plan until I lucked into that TP stash. Still super cool to get to see the lion from a car, most will never spot one at all

    "I liked it much better when I could see the cougar." LOL, me too and I wasn't even there. That is so cool, but I definitely would've had a heart attack!

    Another great video. Although I think you were pushing your luck with the big cat. Curiosity--what do you do for a living? Are you a teacher thus can have much of the summer off?

    I've heard the trails are not clearly marked and would not make the hike alone knowing that wolves, cougars and bears are in the Idaho Mountains.

    • @LayneComfort
      @LayneComfort  26 дней назад

      I found the navigation was no issue there on the main loop and the side trails I explored but YMMV. Wolves & black bear provide no real danger and lions little. The most dangerous part of this adventure was driving before & after which is statistically much more likely to cause catastrophe than spending time in the wilderness.
