Good video, but how do we explain the absense of pause conditions ? Sometimes it becomes a mandate to pause the SLAs for cases like fulfiller waiting for an info
The idea of a pause only matters against fixed time expectations. "This is usually a 1 hour turnaround but <reasons> make us pause". In a Due Date driven expectation, if there's a reason the date can't be met (besides provider incompetence) then the date itself needs re-negotiation.
And speaking of ServiceNow reporting, have you checked out my Joy of Reporting playlist? ruclips.net/p/PLkQDoKoP0MANyQVOGxtP5zChkVpFqMibd
Can you do this via subject over body?
Not with the included custom flow action. You'd have to build another one for that purpose. Plus, I'm not sure how many name value pairs you could even fit into a subject line.
If you're new to ServiceNow scripting and enjoyed this video, check out my video about making your queries SAFE! ruclips.net/video/XQxZnRwKcws/видео.html
Zip file is having a json file. Is there a way to get the content from the json file? The json file is around 42 MB.
I do not yet know how to use Flow Designer to read/manipulate a file's contents. Not saying that doesn't exist, just that I don't know it.
@robertthedukefedoruk5607 Thanks for the reply! I ditched my flow and created a BR at last 😄
Why do you record so rarely?
What is your estimate on production time for a video like this?
@@robertthedukefedoruk5607 LOL
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing
Always means extra from you, Chuck.
If you want to use the script I tested with, go to this thread on the ServiceNow Community www.servicenow.com/community/developer-blog/addextrafield-video-evidence-of-query-performance-gains/ba-p/3127640
When it comes to scheduled scripting, if your Scheduled Script Job isn't a one-liner that just calls a Script Include (where you have all the code for the job), you're probably making your own future self's life more difficult. I'd probably still opt for the Scheduled Script Job as you can't search inside FD Actions via code search, and trying to understand why certain records are being created at suspiciously regular intervals can be a little tricky if you can't use code search. Otherwise, a really good sales pitch for the FD!
Yeah if I added a round for searchability, Scheduled Jobs would have taken it.
Hi Robert, I have lookup records action in my flow using that I want delete multiple records but the out put of lookup records action records is truncated due to the long sys_id's. As per existing solution from service now allows only 466 records .But in my case I have more records is there any way how we can achieve this. Could you please provide any solution for this?
I've never heard of Lookup Records maxing out at 466. I'd highly recommend bringing this to ServiceNow Community (www.servicenow.com/community), the SNDevs slack channel (linktr.ee/sndevs) or the ServiceNow Developer Discord (discord.gg/aGnteM3m). I'm not sure if I'll be able to come to grips with this question in the short term.
Fantastic content once again, Robert. Nice work.
Thank for video background music is nice
I don't remember seeing or using .config during the skillbridge. That's a huge benefit! As soon as I saw that, I instantly thought of a couple instances where I would have used that. Thank you.
I really loved this video. Nice work!

nice
This is very helpful; and super succinct! Thank you!
I've been in the the mortgage biz for 20+ years. Cathy hit it on the nose w/ the dashboard. Great job!
Hi Robert does this still work in Washington? I'm having issues and I have ran into the issue the action is not returning any email variables I'm getting the following message in the logs *** Script: Cannot read property "1" from null am i missing some configuration on the action?
Is there a way to get a sample of the document you showed here
This is great! But what if we want to add the attachment from the email to the RITM it creates?
Should happen by default.
@@robertthedukefedoruk5607 Hmmm I've followed each step precisely but can't get the attachment on the email to show up on the request
@@robertthedukefedoruk5607 hmm I've followed each step precisely but the attachment on the email still isn't showing on the request/RITM it's creating
@@toprow32 - ok, did some R&D. It looks like there's a flow action called "Move Email Attachments to Record" This will ask you for an email record (which should be your trigger) and a destination record (which will be the RITM you create). This must be below whatever Create Record mechanism creates the RITM. I very sincerely appreciate the question, since I was able to learn something today.
@@robertthedukefedoruk5607 Thank you so much!! This solves everything now :D
Thanks Robert.
👍🏾
Thank you for this session! I have problem to get catalog item variables into notification. I searched everywhere but found nothing, but I found the answer here. So easy and straightforward. No need to create a email script. No need to code. Thank you so much!
You're very welcome. Share with your network :)
Thanks Robert for this -- very helpful, although I am still running into an issue with resolving the name-value pairs. The HTML in the received email contains an HTML table with two columns, name on the left and value on the right. The parser is unable to pull data from it. Have you heard of this issue?
I don't believe the parser is built to do that. It interprets name value pairs as being strings on separate lines.. Name1:Value1 Name2:Value2 Its not parsing through HTML.
Great job Kathy on this use case! I loved the application, the co-presentation, the editing and I feel like I actually learned something about loan processing. Nice find Robert!
Thanks @JustinMeadows! I appreciate your feedback and super excited to hear that you learned a little about loan processing.
Hi, would this also work for the case where I need to unzip a file that has folders that contain json files (from which I need to create records in SN?) Or is it only applicable if there are attachments directly in the zip file? Thanks :)
No idea what it would do with folders to be honest. You should test and let us know :D
It's awesome how you managed to incorporate all of these different processes into one. Excellent work Kathy!
Thanks so much @DerKlinker. There are so many more processes I plan to build upon, but wanted to keep scope to a minimum for my first build.
This is an absolutely fantastic use case!
Solid gold
Thanks so much @JeremyBlackston! I truly appreciate this feedback.
Love this. I See so many small to Medium sized firms which really need servicenow but cant afford it😢. There is a huge Potential
Thanks so much @examforge. I saw all the potential ServiceNow could provide a mortgage firm through first time I got an inside look at the capabilities.
Love the video. Decision tables might also help manage some of the different loan types! My new favorite.
Totally agree. Given the scope of the course, we didn't quite get to Decision Tables. But I'm happy to see she's thinking subflows already. Not bad for someone with only a few weeks of SN experience.
@@robertthedukefedoruk5607 completely agree, nice work.

Good explanation - thank you
Hey Rob, been in BMC Remedy for more then 9 years thinking to transit to Servicenow - do u have a like a MAP how and where to start my transition
No. Best thing you can do is go to NowLearning and look at their career journeys. Don't expend the effort on "just thinking about it". The market is flooded with newcomers now. It's going to take you a year of focused effort.
Thank you very much Robert, very handy trips indeed.
This is the development content I would love to watch more ! Keep doing the gr8 job ! thx !
Appreciate you taking the time to say so.
Thanks, Rob. I just finished the NextGen program, and I have my PMP, ITIL 4, CSA, & I'm working on the CIS ITSM. I also have a few micro certs, including Flow Designer. I have PM experience from Transportation & Logistics. However, my goal is to move into IT Project Management. What roles should I be focused on within ServiceNow given my experience & credentials? What other certifications should I look into? Thanks!
If you want to move into IT Project management stop doing stuff that has nothing to do with Project Management. You already have your PMP. MANAGE PROJECTS. Don't be distracted by other technical skills you won't use as a PM.
@robertthedukefedoruk5607 Got it! Makes sense. Thanks!
Hello Robert, I am facing issue to populate the reference field and Date/Time field through Email variable (Name/Value). Any help would be appreciated!
You haven't described the problem. I suspect its this. The DateTime is probably being picky about format. The Reference field is looking for a sys_id, which the email isn't sending, so you may have to do a lookup based on the name that hte email sends you in order to find the sys_id.
Diff between look up record vs look up records actions? since it seems like all you need to do is confirm if one record exists.
Look up record doesn't have the Count property. You COULD interrogate the Status property to see if its "success", but I find the count is both simpler to understand AND more flexible (because you could be looking for more than one result OR exactly 0)
@@robertthedukefedoruk5607 Awesome thanks and that makes sense!
Excellent simple explanation. Now if we all could just remember that existing as a group member who can be assigned a task consumes a license. Being eligible to read anything consumes a license. Always being careful who can see what to avoid being fined for it later. Waking up in cold sweat shouting "Which license is covering it?!" Sorry i digress.. Your vids are great!
Appreciate you taking the time to say so.
This is wonderful content! thanks a lot Duke. This is going to be useful for the interview I am conducting for an architect position.
