    checking the build plan and the driver's data Sd, Fs, Qts- it's obvious that the TL length should be 18 cm longer to effectively apply the driver. What's the Ftl you got?

    4:40 you don't need a bigger amp for bigger speakers, it's the other way round. Bigger speakers are usually more sensitive so they play louder for 1 watt than a small speaker.

    • @DIY-AUDIO
      @DIY-AUDIO 4 дня назад

      👍 I Should of worded it differently, you are 100% correct with regards to bigger speakers requiring less power (especially free range as I am using. The bigger driver the more sensitive they become). I should of made clearer what was in my mind and referred to speakers that have more drivers ie more crossovers etc taking up power.

    I could hear a difference but I would like to be present and hear them again before picking one over the other. I have the CHR-70 in a double mouth horn enclosure I built. The bass isn't great even with that cabinet. On the Madisound site where I bought the drivers, they recommend a 100 hour break-in period which seems excessive to me. I am a fan of both Markaudio and Aiyima. I hope that Aiyima will listen to customers and start to send gaskets as well as better screws like Markaudio does. Thanks for your hard work on this, Paul!

  • @jimspc07
    @jimspc07 6 дней назад

    I can see following the use of the golden ration in planning the front layout. But as the ratio is normally applied to an image created in 2D. How does one asses the depth of the cabinet for a golden ratio. Ok, its simply using the front size as one multiple of the wanted enclosure volume size to give the depth. But is the depth to be related to the golden ratio also. Therfore giving a golden ratio application from all perspectives not just the speaker front, which is the golden ratio but it can still be varied in size depending on what is needed for the depth. Is there any relationship between the area of the golden ration front and the depth? or just work it out from the box volume and a random front golden ratio size and that will do?

    • @DIY-AUDIO
      @DIY-AUDIO 6 дней назад

      Used a.0.6 x 1 x 1.6 ration and used the internal not external measurements for this. It was just an experiment and seems to produce a lovely sound but, this was for a full range driver so not sure if it would work out differently for 2way. Based it on the plans from Planet 10 Audio (he designs and builds / well, did commercially for people. Plan link in description)

    The optimal volume is 26 liters (bass reflex) to which you must add the volume of the magnet and the volume of the tube. The 5 cm tube (real diameter 4.8 cm) must be 8.2 cm long It is advisable to also try a shorter tube 7.2 cm or longer 9.2 cm The tube should resonate at 43Hz In a closed box without bass-reflex con12.5 liters you have the best transient. The zobel network (RC series) sufficient to make it work with class D amplifier must be made with 2 non -polarized capacitors from 0.82 UF 100 volts and 2 resistance from 4.7+3.9=8.6 hom 20 Watt (10+10)

    Very nice build but I bet you were disappointed with the finish on the wood? RUclips is fantastic for learning how to build things but woodworking youtubers never finish any projects well. As a French polisher it is easy to get a flat mirror finish to any woodwork and you are never going to rest a hot cup of tea on these or put them out in the rain so why not use French polish? Follow these steps, 1) sand flat 2) mix thin french polish with pumice powder and work the area with a fad/rubber in a round motion, the very fine sawdust will fill the grain 3) sand with 400 grit 4) apply many coats of french polish with mop brush in long strokes leaving time to dry in-between each coat (on a hot day less than 10 mins) 5) use the fad/rubber with thin french polish to smooth out any brush marks and leave a very shiny finish 6) use 0000 wire wool and very lightly go over the finish to take off the bright shine then use wax polish and buff after. This sounds long winded but using other methods is longer because drying time with french polish is so quick, first timers don't be afraid of trying french polish, it's cheap, long lasting, robust (unless getting wet) easy to repair, and if you mess it up easy to remove and start again. Oh and it looks amazing. I will leave a link to a guy on youtube who has how to videos on french polishing, he is the best, ... www.youtube.com/@theenglishpolisher

    Nice job, but I have one query which relates to why you wanted to be able to screw down the backpanel. I would build a screwed panel for protyping if say I had a crossover and I wanted to quickly swap in and out components, but you have a full range driver that at best might have a resistor for the top end. Just curious as I think that screws always betray the fact that it is DIY..

    • @DIY-AUDIO
      @DIY-AUDIO 13 дней назад

      Thanks. As with a lot of builds, some people like to experiment with the amount of filling (this one seemed to have a little too much and I reduced it slightly and although I don't measure sounded better to my ears) and as you stated maybe add a baffle step filter at a later date. Plus I like to complicate things😂😂

    Very nice. A couple thoughts: 1. I just opened up some old Bose 301s. Instead of solder, they used wirewrap. 2. If someone wants to solder to anything, first make a mechanical connection (i.e. twist the wires together) and then solder to make the permanent electrical connection. 3. Those positive and negative tabs: If the top tab gets loose after a could years of service, it looks like the tab could possibly swing down and make contact with the other connector. Maybe not, but that's something youtube DIYers should look out for. This video has motivated me to make my own soundbar. Again, very nice video.
